10 gallon Metaframe Rehabilitation
eatyourpeas replied to eatyourpeas's topic in Photos, Videos & Journals
The hot days are definitely helping to soften the asphalt, but wimpy me has a hard time working in those temperatures. Progress has been slow, for sure. The only way to remove a side glass panel on a Metaframe is by removing the bottom panel. It is the only way to fit the glass through the frame. The glass has a lot of scratches and I am wondering if I should replace all of it. I really like this tank! The air pump is fully functional! -
I see a blenny in your future! 😍

We have lots of great natives, but they require very large tanks. @Fish Folk has a great journal entry for NANF that is lots of fun to follow. 🙂

Welcome home rainbow goby (stiphodon ornatus)

Gobies are such great little fish! My marine gobies are complete goofballs, especially when they pile up on top of one another to take a siesta! Enjoy this little beauty! 😍 -
If you can get a hold off some amphipods, they’ll feed on the diatoms and provide food for Globo. Usually on the beach under muddy rocks and shells.
-
How is little Globo doing? I hope all is well.

I think brackish may be a good choice. I love @Zenzo‘s mudskipper tank, and those little guys are full of personality! I think that is the trait I seek in the critters I have… 🙃
-
It is not even leather! 🤪 What do you mean? I have other FW tanks but none biotope type. I have a pond and a ditch near my house, but have yet to find interesting critters that my husband would let me bring into the house.

Well, that is how I did it. I did study the local waters for about a year before I started the tank, and contacted the Seattle Aquarium seeking advice. Back when, I was fixated on a Grunt sculpin, but the tank had other plans. As with FW, follow what the tank wants to do, the critters know better. I can’t give you any useful advice on tropical marine environments, unfortunately. But you have seen the set-up and the V-Sump (which was greatly influenced by you), and that part of the maintenance is pretty straight forward. At about nine months I started to see macros grow on their own, which was pretty exciting. I stopped collecting a while ago since most critters are reproducing on their own, and I may be already overstocked. I do follow other reefers, and be prepared for a very steep price tag when it comes to corals and anemones. Luckily, that is one aspect that has cost zero in my tank. Feel free to ask any questions. 😃

Now just trying to get motivated to go get some saltwater for a WC. It is supposed to be hot all next week, so I may just skip the trip and mix SW to keep it closer to temperature. Still having coffee, cup number three… Studying while at it, and getting distracted while at it… 🤨

Etienne and Leopold Flerken have disappeared. Maybe buried somewhere for protection, maybe eaten by a bristleworm, who knows. I have learned to not be surprised by anything in this drama box, so they may show up a few months later all grown up with beards and a guitar asking for money. 🤪 Ursula Flerken is doing well, she is now asleep and buried. Her usual morning routine until she smells food and comes out to make sure she does not miss out. I cleaned the skimmer and added a new airstone, and found very healthy red macros growing inside!

I have the worst credit score! No debt, a 22 year old manual transmission car, yes to cc because it helps me keep track of where I spend money (Coop topping the list these days 😉), but they get paid off every month. I do not like owing money. Simple. Always been that way. 😎 -
