NERM Week 2022 - What did you learn this year?
eatyourpeas replied to Beardedbillygoat1975's topic in General Discussion
Things break. It does not have to mean the world is coming to an end. 🙄 -
She is messing with me! 🤪 "Members of the class Anthozoa are either gonochoric or hermaphroditic. Mature gametes are shed into the coelenteron and spawned through the mouth. Life cycle: The zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva. Metamorphosis begins with early morphogenesis of tentacles, septa and pharynx before larval settlement on the aboral end. "

Since I bring the water from the ocean (only had to mix twice) the salinity has registered anywhere from 1.022 to 1.018 I try to keep it at 1.020

That was going to be my question. The salinity jump seems like quite a lot. 🐡

Another morning of critter greetings! Nems were happy to eat leftover fish (that is how I look when I get ice cream!), and, it may be too soon to be excited, but do we have a Baby Flerken????

Thank you! It has been a good drama box, for sure! And you are going to be scarily close to the CoOp! Please let us know when you land! 😃 Also, you should talk to @Robert since I think he has a marine AIO cube.

They almost look like insect larvae. Are your tanks covered? Could a fly of some sort have deposited eggs in the tank water?

Celebrating the one year mark for this tank. Remembering the departed critters, enjoying and being grateful for the current inhabitants, for they make me happy!

Nope. Unfortunately BBA will not grow for me. Will probably take the tank down and move the WCMMs to another tank.

It is all good. I am on my first cup of coffee so can take it. 😉 The link in my signature will take you to pictures. There are other colors that look fun too! One note on the color, they tend to be darker in real life, and that is why I chose the Apricot since their colors are a bit more vibrant.

An update on keeping parameters more stable. I added some crushed coral to the filter and it is helping maintain KH at a decent level. Thank you @Cory for the recommendation! 🦀 🐌 🦐

Thanks for the reference, @Biotope Biologist. Yes, I have three Apricot Vampire crabs that are almost a year old. They are fun, even though they hid a lot in the beginning. Will eat snails, but not touch the Neocaridina shrimp. Happy to see someone else getting them! 😃 🦀

And they all came out beautiful! Lost a couple of itty bitty bladder snails that were tangled in the algae. RIP. On a side note, a big cheer to @Guppysnail for becoming an aquatic gardener extraordinaire. I was looking at early pictures of your tanks, and oh my!, your jungles are impressive and gorgeous! Inspiring, as always! 😍

I have used No-Planaria successfully as well. Shrimp and fish were fine, snails were not. It will kill snails of any kind. I had no issues with the BB either.

Looking for some advice from goby (Stiphodon sp.) keepers
eatyourpeas replied to Jess's topic in General Discussion
Even though my gobies are marine, I noticed they like lots of O2 in the tank. I tend to bleed the internal skimmer a little to provide microbubbles for them. They go on an O2 high and are fun to watch. 😍 -
Joining this experiment, because it is too much fun! Currently treating Riccia fluitans, Süsswassertang and a tiny bit of Water wisteria. Went to the SodaStream spa at noon today. Will report tomorrow. 😎 I did apologize profusely to the algae. Green hair and staghorn. BBA still refuses to grow for me... 🙄

And he is such a puppy! Always coming to the front of the tank to say hello and wiggle his tail! 😍
