  1. Yeah all white clouds are extinct in the wild, altho I think they’ve reintroduced them some. Also I really want barrens topminnow which is one of the endangered fish Chattanooga aquarium is working with
  2. Yeah that was my thought was food dye that’s non toxic, dropping it right in front of the filter and see where it goes
  3. Huh, interesting. I wonder what type of hair algae that is bc it's not like any type of hair algae I've had infect my tanks before, I honestly kinda like this ones look. Also idk that moss comes from a swamp in virginia along with that algae
  4. Ok but I wanna know what those black planter things are you're trying the plants down to??? And where do I get them lol
  5. Also I really like those fish and I plan in the future to get some orange rice fish, but it's a future project
  6. So I'm definitely more of a noob, I mean ik a lot mainly just bc I've probably watched hundreds of hours of youtube videos and seen the majority of the live streams lol, and just the coops videos in general, plus many other channels, but I'm currently breeding white clouds and planning on getting bloody mary cherry shrimp and breeding those and I'm trying guppies again, but everytime I get them they die within a week and it's been frustrating, usually from a fungal infection from the pet store, and I've bought from two local fish stores and petsmart and same problem at all so I'm planning on getting a colony going and then subjecting them to fungal infections and ich and not medicating and making a stronger fish and selling to lfs. I'm also looking forward to setting up a 40 breeder and getting multis and having a nice colony of them going
  7. So I have this moss that came on with a plant and I've slowly been growing it, dont remember where I got the plant, but I was wanting proper identification of it so ik exactly what it is
  8. Dang, yeah I told my dad about this bc hes been pretty supportive of my fish hobby and he was like yeah even back when I was your age it was expensive and it made him get pissed of when a fish died or jumped out, he said how the redtail shark he bought was $15 and back then he was making $1.50 an hour and I was just like wow, idk if when I first got into aquariums that I would spend a days wage on just one fish let alone getting like 10 or 15 like he did, like thatd be $50 today and it honestly got me thinking hmmmm maybe I could turn him into a fish nerd lol
  9. I just have this in a little plastic tub with some snails and I'm just really curious as to what it is?
  10. You can also freeze unused hatched bbs, just get yourself a dedicated ice tray and fill each cube, then when you wanna use it just thaw it and throw them in the tank, not as good as fresh but better than throwing it away!
  11. I think I might have an idea, but since I dont know for sure I wanted to make sure it wasnt anything to worry about, and if it's not just tell me that dont have to necessarily tell me what it is Also ignore the calcium deficiency, I'm working on it, I've got the same water cory has tho, or had I guess lol
  12. Alright thx for responding, I've been dosing maracyn for the past 2 days but I'll start dosing ich x too if you think thatll help
  13. I agree with most of what was said here except the used horse trough, bc you dont know what the farmer has put in that and I would just get a new one to avoid that risk, that being said you could always take the risk
  14. If you have multiple tanks then I would just do it on one tank for a month or two and see if theres any adverse effects, and do it on one that you care less about, and also if you have shrimp then one with shrimp or add some shrimp to the one you're testing bc they're usually a little more fragile and will show it more
  15. Get yourself some malaysian trumpet snails, that way when they get to close and the multis move them it looks like they're "playing a trumpet"- Cory's words
  16. Alright so this morning I found the pregnant female and male were dead, and the other female was honestly kinda looking better, and all the fry were loving life
  17. Heres a pic I just snapped, shes pregnant and been lying on the substrate for the past 30 min, also she has a small orange dot coming out her butt, altho since shes on top of the gravel it kinda just looks like a piece of gravel but you can clearly see it
  18. Alright so, I just got 3 guppies on saturday, they were from petsmart so diseases are to be expected and I'm pretty sure it's just something they brought home with them and not caused by the tank I have set up for them. The first one to get something was a female that had babies on sunday. So I was thinking maybe the stress of the birth or something but now its spreading, altho the other female is also pregnant and was having contractions. Now the female that's currently pregnant has a white growth near the end of her tail, and she also has an orangeish ball coming out of her butt which I'm worried may be a still born or something? Idk need diagnosis on that too, and then the female that already gave birth has a white spot under her dorsal fin, altho the picture is really blurry, and the male has a ring on his tail but couldnt get a picture of that. The babies seem to be doing just fine, and I dosed the med trio on saturday, sunday all seemed to be fine so I didnt do anything, then yesterday I noticed the white spot, that wasnt ich, on the first female guppy and I decided to dose another packet of maracyn, then when i came home today and saw it had spread to the other female amd possibly starting on the male i decided to test water and when that showed nothing to come here. Also my params are Ph: 7.4? (Hard to read test kit lol) Ammonia: 0 Nitrite:0 Nitrate:0 Temp: 77°F
  19. That was the coolest thing ever I just got to watch her give birth and I only just got her yesterday from petsmart and was super surprised.
  20. I personally would go with a nano sponge just bc it has a smaller footprint, but you can go with a bigger one too, and technically the taller the tube the more suction you have, and the bigger the sponge the more surface area you have for beneficial bacteria and also to catch more debris, so really it depends on those factors and what you're looking for more than this specific one is for this specific tank.
  21. No, those are trimmings from my other 10 gallon, they also had that clown puke blue substrate in it, but it came with the light and stand and 3 air pumps and an under gravel filter, all for $10. So I was happy about it😊
  22. Just took this picture, this aquariums been up and running for a year and a half, altho granted I just recently rescaped it and also the white clouds have done a number on the microfauna population lol
  23. So got this fish tank and its eventually gonna be a quarantine tank as it has some scratches and stuff but for rn itll be these 3 guppies home for the next month or so, and I mean they are in quarantine getting the med trio too. But i definitely need to get a finnex stingray from aquarium coop ordered soon lol
  24. So bought a new tank today lol, this is gonna end up being a quarantine tank and that's what I'm using it for rn for those guppies but also this will be their temporary home for about a month or so
