  1. You can see it all over rocks of a certain type in the substrate too. How easy is it to remove?
  2. One of the big issues with turtles is lifespan. If they actually are well taken care of some love very long lives, much longer than any human.
  3. I think we settled on she. 😂 Oh well. Snoopy is like me, coffee first.... Sitting here attempting to wake up, listening to the tank go bonkers and the lights are out, no glasses, so who knows what they are up to! I hear splashing. Usually that means Grace is awake and doing some laps, but she's just chilling. She's been doing good, loves her hide and just glides around with no cares. Noises are coming from the black Cory tank... Either the fish or the filter 😞 . Did you get yours to fix itself?
  4. Why the long face Pooh bear? Have a good day Snoopy! 😂
  5. Second cluster is already gone. Probably a happy clown or swordtail. First cluster there's just over a dozen eggs there still.
  6. The nice thing about those stands is that it's steel so you can just get magnets and sew them into some fabric. Can also hot glue them to some ply or whatever you want and it works. Such a nice "feature". Looking forward to seeing more. Bummer about the leak.
  7. That'd be really, really awesome if you were able to get things with her going. Nurses are really special people and working in that part of the hospital is a lot of tension day to day at times. Having an aquarium to go home to, I can only imagine how much of a calming place that could be for her on days off. Hopefully things work out and all goes well.
  8. This might be helpful. If you have any question or need any details on your specific plants just take a lot of photos and we can help out!
  9. Very sorry for your loss. Double check everything whenever time allows. Hoping for the best for you.
  10. Middle of working. Good news, bad news. Which do you want first? Bad News: I know, I know.... everyone is very disappointed to hear this. I was unable to move the tank today. It's been a slightly busy day, but a lot of it is simply put that I didn't have enough time until it got a bit later. Usually never an issue. I need to get a power strip for the new location, again, not really a deal breaker, but just a good idea. I am working out some details, fixing things, cleaning up some stuff, but ultimately, I just didn't get it done today. The filter issue on Friday meant the take was really cloudy. It cleared up a little bit, but hopefully things keep progressing. The prefilter sponges are an annoyance, but It'll get fixed in time. So I just got done with maintenance, everything was fine. A bit of a rush this time because.... Good News: I had mentioned activity, fully expecting to wake up to a spawn yesterday. they were swimming around trying to find a spot for the eggs, no dice. I watched the fish for a little while this morning frantically running around like they were placing eggs. Males excited, and all of that.... Tonight, I find this: More behavior, more frantic chasing as I drain water from the tank. I am hoping they keep laying through the night, this is what they've gotten done so far after lights out. ^^ @KittenFishMom 'Tis the season..... that's for sure.
  11. I don't think a root would behave that way. For most roots you'll see the main root and then small hairs of shooting the mass. I don't see that here. The stone you have is also known for having crevices and mud and things inside. Something could've been in there and taken however long for the mud to dissolve. All variables here.... @Beardedbillygoat1975aany ideas? @OnlyGenusCaps any.ideas?
  12. Do you have a food container that's empty or a small plastic thing? He uses a tea strainer (fine mesh) which you could find a few things to sub in there. Then you just tighten the lid down and you have a siphon. It might not work as a gravel vac, but it might get some stuff up, depending.
  13. That tank is screaming for some amano shrimp breeding. Tub or something with the zoeys and then when you go to feed, dump in some greenwater. Question, given the ammonia and other things in the tanks, would this be toxic for that scenario given your setup? Is the ammonia testing out in the water or simply being converted to nitrates? Is it being consumes quickly enough to not harm livestock?
  14. Make sure the bushing is there and clean. The part the pump latches into (HoB container) I clean that out too when you run into an issue like that. If a plant gets stuck in there or something, you get noise in there that is very similar.
  15. Unplug them, disassemble them, take apart the pumps and specifically clean the impeller and the cavity the impeller sits in. I use a toothbrush for mine. The second thing is to use something like silicone grease to ensure the impeller isn't suffering from too much friction on the shaft. Something is disturbing the pump/impeller causing grinding. I'll try to track a video down of full disassembly on the HoB to give it a good clean.
  16. Does the sound go away when you remove the plastic lids (on the tank and the HoB)? It almost sounds like the gree house panel vibrating. You mentioned that you cleaned the pumps. Impellers and everything looked good? @eddie462
  17. A common method is to use salt. Things that live in salt, often, cannot live in freshwater and vice versa. The real question is how to do that and how long to do it for. https://sciencing.com/kill-bacteria-salt-12029250.html
  18. Looks like bacterial wound. Maybe a nip or ran into something and got speared. Salt+maracyn would be where I start. If it gets fuzzy, then go for the fungus stuff. I rinse them and drop em in. Also add in your tea.
  19. Same for me, example of 1. I understand your point. I tend to err on the 7.0 PH for them and just like the amanos ran into issues when PH jumped on me. Kind of similar to running them hot. They were stressed and acting irregular. (Pandas) Enough to make me test and adjust things. Most of the time my tanks are in the 6.8-7.2 range. Usually trying to be sub 7 just because of the way my water is.
  20. Please remove that one for sure. Do you see more? Looks like a straight up earthworm to me. Just be very careful about ammonia crashing. I would basically remove the fish and things you want to keep alive, dump in far too much salt for an amount of time and then clean it well.
  21. I haven't used super green. I prefer soilent green based simply on the "aufwuchs" side of things and the spirulina. In terms of the fish you mentioned I think you're doing everything fine, just give them time. Soilent has krill and squid, but I wouldn't mind having either one. Either one is very healthy and is good for your use case. Super Green: INGREDIENTS: Spirulina Algae, Algae Meal (Chlorella), Pea Protein Isolate, Rice Protein Concentrate, Alfalfa Leaf Powder, Stabalized Rice Bran, Dandelion Powder, Dried Brewer’s Yeast, Coconut Meal, Ground Flaxseed, Schizochytrium Algae, Dried Seaweed Meal, Dried Kelp, Locust Bean Gum, Lecithin, Potassium Citrate, Taurine, Stinging Nettle, Garlic, RoseHips, Hibiscus Flower, Calendula Flower, Marigold Flower, Paprika, Turmeric, Calcium Propionate and Potassium Sorbate (as preservatives), Magnesium Amino Acid Chelate, Zinc Methionine Hydroxy Analogue Chelate, Manganese Methionine Hydroxy Analogue Chelate, Copper Methionine Hydroxy Analogue Chelate, Selenium Yeast. Vitamins: (Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D Supplement, Choline Chloride, Calcium L-Ascorbyl-2- Monophosphate, Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Beta Carotene, Pantothenic Acid, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex). Soilent Green: INGREDIENTS: Spirulina Algae, Algae Meal (Chlorella), Krill Meal, Pea Protein Isolate, Squid Meal, Rice Protein Concentrate, Fish Meal, Alfalfa Leaf Meal, Dried Brewer’s Yeast, Coconut Meal, Stabilized Rice Bran, Flax Seed Meal, Schizochytrium Algae, Dried Seaweed Meal, Lecithin, Dried Kelp, Locust Bean Gum, Potassium Citrate, Taurine, Stinging Nettle, Garlic, RoseHips, Hibiscus Flower, Calendula Flower, Marigold Flower, Paprika, Turmeric, Salt, Calcium Propionate and Potassium Sorbate (as preservatives), Magnesium Amino Acid Chelate, Zinc Methionine Hydroxy Analogue Chelate, Manganese Methionine Hydroxy Analogue Chelate, Copper Methionine Hydroxy Analogue Chelate, Selenium Yeast.
