  1. Assuming i would be alone I would want a water puppy sort of fish to keep me company. A big south american cichlid of some sort. If I did that I'd probably have to go floating plants mainly so I'd go with hornwort. It would also keep me busy by growing so fast.
  2. Well with 2 canister filters filled with good media like you have you don't need no stinkin plants lol. J/K I love plants of course but you have a lot of beneficial bacteria going on.
  3. I noticed my crypts started to take off when I lowered the light intensity. Maybe they are "reaching" for light I dunno but I'm seeing more growth than I did before.
  4. Wonder if he would chew or pull on pothos roots? You might be able to put it in the main tank as well. Of course fill up the sump too. More the merrier I say. I agree with hornwort as well. It was the first plant I thought of.
  5. Cats are great. I'm an animal person so I got love for dogs as well. But there is something about cats. You can't force them to like you, you can't get one over on them. I like their independent streak. After 15 years one of my cats just discovered she likes sitting on laps.
  6. @lefty oMom had lots of Crystal Gale albums. I remember those and Boz Scaggs and Eric Clapton. I do still like Eric Clapton.
  7. I have my desk setup with multiple monitors. One of those is dedicated to Spotify. The one constant is Pink Floyd and lots of Primus. The rest is usually a mix of 80s-early 00s music. Probably due to the nostalgia factor. You always like what you listened to as a kid to young adult. It could be alternative, metal, pop, rap depending on mood. Recently lots of the Cure. Last song that played was "She talks in stereo" by Gary Myrick. Tomorrow it could be Kottonmouth Kings, Megadeth or Madonna.
  8. Exactly. I've used the bottled bacterias and things like fritz complete. They worked for me. Yea shocking I know. It's almost like if these kinds of products didn't work then they wouldn't be selling them. But there's always that one guy that knows more than the company and millions of hobbyists that have used the stuff for decades lol.
  9. Yea but she goes to the feeding ring I have floating in the tank. My electric blue acara on the other hand goes absolutely nuts if he catches a glimpse of me. He's like bro over here bro!
  10. You're going to have to do a fish in cycle at this point. You say you have seachem prime & stability. According to seachem, prime detoxifies (whatever you want to call it, can be controversial topic) up to 1ppm ammmonia & 2ppm nitrite per dose. You can safely dose up to 5x, meaning you can detoxify up to 5ppm ammonia & 10 ppm nitrites. With that said I would start dosing stability at the recommended level every day and do a 5X prime dose. 2 days later I would recheck parameters and as long as you are under 5ppm ammonia & 10 ppm nitrites you don't need to water change & can redose the prime. If you see the fish are lethargic, sluggish, looking cloudy or not eating then I would do a 50% water change. You keep dosing and checking like this until you get 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite & some nitrates.
  11. Get what I need (reason for the order), grab what I might need shortly and depending on the total get something else to meet the minimum order amount, though usually I'm above that amount anyway.
  12. What I figured it'd be too time consuming to stay on top of all the places that probably do this sort of thing.
  13. So I was looking in to the Xtreme line of foods and I came across a site I hadn't heard of before so I visited. Under the Xtreme Krill flakes they have copy pasted the product description from the Co-ops site right down to the "I've personally been using this flake food with my livebearers and they love it." line at the end. It's none of my business and I don't know the legalities but that didn't seem like a manufacturer provided description, though maybe I'm wrong on that as well. Apologies if I'm out of line here just thought maybe I'd give a heads up. Here's the link if anybody from the Co-op is interested in checking it out: https://www.supercichlids.com/products/xtreme-krill-flakes
  14. Oh for the fish you mean lol. Was gonna say that sounds pretty gross.
  15. On the one hand it makes them more versatile as they can be any size. I don't keep anything as big as like Oscars so I imagine I'll always have some sort of flake in the rotation.
  16. Now I could just have really bad luck but I've had 2 pythons and quit using them. They both ended up coming apart when I closed that valve and for no longer than a few seconds. What happened was the hose came apart closer to the faucet end and sprayed water all over the bathroom.
  17. I guess you want to use one so you wouldn't have an ugly heater inside the tank? I don't know enough about them but I just suspect it wouldn't work that well. Would they handle the weight of a full aquarium? I'm just thinking about punctures and water going someplace it shouldn't and electricity. Maybe somebody will come by that's used one I dunno. Just seems sketchy to me personally.
  18. I've watched most of those and more. Though honestly I haven't been watching anybody that much recently. I kind of binged when I was just getting into the hobby and I know where I can go back to find more if I want. I like some more than others of course and really can't stand a couple but I won't go into that.
  19. I mean it's got good reviews but I've learned that doesn't always tell the tale. I do find it odd that even on the official product site they don't even show a picture of the back of the package nor tell you exactly what's in it and how much.
  20. For my betta tank I went with something from imagitarium. Looks similar to above but can't remember what it's called. It was cheap and on the shelf at petco.
  21. Cory's said before he doesn't want to do Twitch due to how much moderation it would need and how toxic chat can get. Though I can't imagine Asmongold's fans would be watching an aquarium stream you never know.
  22. Not an expert but I've managed to bring a major algae infestation under control in my 40 breeder. I've come to the conclusion that if you aren't running co2 you can't max out that light. Right now I'm at 40% on all settings for 8 hours. I'd try reducing it to 75% or so and wait a couple weeks. Then reassess and lower it again if needed.
  23. I use a mirror for a minute or so every day so my betta gets to protect her empire from invaders.
  24. I laughed when I saw that on the news the other day. But yea unless it's something like shrimp I'm on team plop and drop. I believe it's less stressful on the fish to get them in the tank ASAP.
  25. The cat may not have wanted to kill him but give him to you. They can be very gentle holding fish/kittens/mice in their mouths. My cat once caught a mouse and carried it through the house with it's arms and legs flailing. She set it down in front of me and it didn't have a scratch on it and took off again. Or he could've just fished it out of the aquarium who knows.
