  1. @Streetwise I remember gaming on 56K ~1999/2000 or so. If I remember right I got about 200-250ms to Ultima Online. Those speeds were fine except for the lag spikes where it went to 1K+. DSL was a huge upgrade a little bit later and then of course cable modem speeds today are excellent for my needs. I knew a guy who had a T1 connection to his house back then. He taught network administration at one of those private for profit tech schools. That must've been super expensive back then. Heck they aren't really cheap nowadays.
  2. I never had an arcade within walking/biking distance growing up. My parents wouldn't drive me because my mom didn't like arcades. She thought they were wretched hives of scum and villainy. That and at the time child abduction was on the nightly news every night. The country was like in a panic almost with the Adam Walsh thing happening and the Atlanta stuff.
  3. I've been just doing top offs for months now. When I was just getting started I did water changes at least every other week just because. Once the newness of it all wore off I don't like to do anything more than I have to in order to keep everything going as it should. I might be missing nutrients that don't get replenished enough. I don't know tbh but I haven't lost any fish yet.
  4. So many choices I agree with everything above pretty much lol. I went with an Electric blue acara, pearl gourami & some praecox rainbowfish. Then a little bit later I turned my quarantine tank into a betta tank. I've had em for almost a year I think at this point and haven't lost any yet. The pearl gourami is a little more aggressive than I thought it would be, going after the rainbowfish but it can't catch them.
  5. I've heard of truck drivers who play Euro Truck simulator, which is an awesome game if you've never played it. I fish occasionally in real life but one of my favorite games is fishing planet, which is just a fishing simulator lol.
  6. I don't think the fish are that picky. The vast majority of fish you'll get haven't seen a natural habitat for generations. I do think it's a cool idea though to recreate the environment the species is known to live in. But it's more for the fish keeper than the fish.
  7. I would put the Betta in the 10 gallon and just do without a filter until one gets delivered. Do daily water changes and use something like Prime. Or if you have any floating plants throw a bunch of those in. My Betta tank has a tiny sponge filter but the duckweed does most of the work keeping things in check.
  8. Looks cool. The developer appears to be very responsive in the feedback too.
  9. The Matrix Resurrections. Finally watched it. I want that 2.5 hours of my life back. Sad because I was looking forward to it. But of course you can't just expect to recapture the awesomeness of the original.
  10. Yea maybe they can let you in either before open or after close some day. It's a shame that people in general are so selfish these days. In my area many refuse to wear a mask just so they can hopefully get in a confrontation about it. But that's West Virginia in a nutshell for ya. I better be quiet now or I'll get in trouble lol.
  11. @JawjagrrlProbably is what you'd spend today I dunno for sure. I like big dogs but if I was to get one I'd want to go the rescue route. I just find old prices fascinating for some reason lol. Like back when you could get a new car for $2k or so.
  12. According to inflation calculators that shepherd puppy would be ~$700 today.
  13. I feed mine Xtreme Betta pellets. Occasionally substituting Hikari freeze dried daphnia. The betta is my favorite fish to feed as I can almost hand feed it. The other tank is a feeding frenzy when I put food in.
  14. I remember they had an Oscar in this tank once. I always liked seeing him feed the fish though.
  15. Well said @Zenzo. I've watched football 40+ years but I never played it. I still don't know every rule and I can't name a coverage when I see it. Once you start doing a deep dive into formations and man vs zone there's really a lot going on. My mother always said why do they always run it straight at the other team, they know they aren't going anywhere lol. Oh yea that show is great. If it's a team I really care about I'll watch the other channel but otherwise their commentary is the best since Madden in my opinion.
