I'm sure there's cases where it really matters but I don't think PH is that big of a deal. More important is keeping whatever parameters you're working with stable.

@Karen B.I've heard of getting snails with plants but are you saying you can get fish with them as well? I just wonder what kind of fish would get mixed in with plants. That could be cool or really bad I guess depending on the fish lol.

I'm considering adding a 20 long or a 29 gallon myself. I've been considering gobies, kuhli loaches and apistogrammas. I want mystery snails as well.

I think the best you can hope for is to get a known reliable brand and then hope that you get one from a good manufacturing run.

Yea unfortunately anything bigger than pea puffers are pretty much a no go in that small of a tank. Pea puffers are really cool fish in their own right though so nothing wrong with having those.

The white slime is interesting. Do you have any more pictures of it? Also just want to make sure you hadn't used any sunscreen on your arms that day as sunscreen is lethal to fish. Just a couple things off the top of my head. It's an odd case I hope we figure it out.

I always liked other people's aquariums. I just never got around to setting up my own. A relative got a couple tanks and I loved the mystery snails she has, they were so cool looking. So I started researching a ton. I binged youtube for a couple months before getting my first tank. That way I knew what I needed to do from the get go. I already had a list of online stores I was going to use and had my preferred fish picked out etc. That made setting everything up a breeze.

The limit of 5 per type of animal is concerning when it comes to fish. Do they mean I can have 2 corydoras and 3 neon tetras or does it mean I could have 5 corydoras and 5 neon tetras since they are both different species. Then of course many fish feel more comfortable in schools larger than 5. Speaking of corydoras are they going to be banned because they could be classified with the venomous fish? And what source are they using for the 14 inch max length. You can find various max lengths for the same type of fish when searching online. Hopefully this law doesn't come to pass.

My uncle's family is in Houma. They aren't allowed back yet to check damage but from everything I've seen Houma was pretty much lost. I feel for all the people affected by hurricanes. They got lucky in Katrina and didn't get any damage at all. He did get his cats out before he evacuated.

Just watched the 1984 Dune movie. It was great if not a little confusing at times.

I like the chiefs and packers and anybody who beats the patriots. I don't really have any NCAA favorites as I don't really watch much college football. I do keep up with WVU and Marshall since they are local but I can't say I care that much if they win or lose.

I think the plakats are healthier because they aren't prone to fin rot like their flowing finned counterparts. They also aren't as heavily bred for specific looks like the others are. So I think they are more "pure" or whatever you wanna call it. Probably not the right word but I think you get what I mean.

I've gotten intersted in sci-fi more as I get older. For whatever reason as a kid I just never really got into the genre besides like Star Wars if that counts. I'm going to watch Dune though since I know it's such a classic. I think it's on hulu. Will be the first time seeing it. Back in the 80s I was into like horror movies and war movies. I still like good horror movies but don't really get into war movies anymore.

I have a fluval 3.0 with a 40 breeder. I have the whites and red set to 50 and 0 blue. I'm actually going to switch it back to 40% on the whites and red because I had 0 algae with that setting. a few weeks after moving to 50 I'm seeing algae.

Looks like a character set encoding issue going on for some reason. I'd try a different browser like chrome. You could also clear the cookies and cache in firefox and see if that helps.

I agree with James. I'd just take it as a sign that he likes his tank and you're doing a good job. My betta makes nests. My sisters does not. Soo that makes me the better betta parent in the family lol.

I've been looking at trying red root floater. Love the look especially when the roots get a dark red.
