  1. Looks like baby MTS they mostly come out at night. Do you see any on your glass after lights out? Or do you have anything in your tank that eats snails? Mine only come out in droves with the lights on when I put snello, snails cookies or veggies in the tank.
  2. I like backgrounds. Im partial to the cling type easiest to apply and remove win win
  3. I know when you have a high reading on your parameters we all panic and want to do a big water change to correct the issue. Keep in mind wild swings is also harmful and could be just a deadly. Doing lots of small quantity water changes is preferable and less harmful to you fish. Think of it like jumping in a snow bank in winter in your bathing suit then jumping in a hot tub that extream shock of temperature is very uncomfortable. But if you sat in a cold tub of water and it slowly heated up you would not notice the change as much.
  4. This is very hard to answer as there are many factors to the equation. Generally to cycle a tank it takes 4-8 weeks. But if you use filter media from an established tank or even better yet put your heater and filter in an established tank for a few weeks before setting up a new tank and then transfer to the new tank and you can cut that time down to a few days or a week.
  5. If they are kept in good conditions and are well fed they will breed. They breed slowly but baby assassins are super cute!
  6. Thank you for the kind words. Im going to do my best
  7. Thats the best compliment a breeder could ask for.... other wanting your fish in their tanks 🙂
  8. Yes this is great advise I learned the hard way during a move when I almost lost one of my lines to have multiple tanks of each line.
  9. Some of my MTS are showing reddish purple in their shells.... is their anyway to encourage this trait to express more?
  10. So I found what I thought was an an amazing looking juvenile male guppy in my "cull" tank this June. I call him Mr. Marble because he reminds me of a blue marble betta coloration. So I shared his photo on Facebook and asked opinions on trying to create my own guppy strain from him... well I was talked down to by a guppy YouTube personality that I made a mutt and well I almost gave up the hobby. A few weeks went and I said Self who cares what he says put him in a tank and try to make more. So 6 months later and I have a mini Mr Marble. I still have a long way to go but I am excited that I am on the right track... I hope. I have a few more juveniles males that look like they will look at lot like dad and brother and in another week or two I should know for sure. I believe Mr Marble came from a blue and white strain ive been developing for just under 2 years now I call Blue Dreams but because he was in my cull tank I can't be sure. I have no idea if anyone else would ever be interested in my blue marble guppies if in a few years I can claim it as a set strain because they are short tails but I love them. The females are starting to get some white coloration on their top lines. Anyways I will share some photos and you can let you me know your thoughts. I shared the long tail blue dreams I think is where he popped up from.
  11. I want the old ones back the new ones fall apart too fast. My fish also seemed to like the old ones better. Just my opinion
  12. I have purchased a few all work awesome accept I had one that just did want to run well I did the bang trick and it worked a few times but the the last time never brought it back to life. But the others run perfectly just figured I got a dud.
  13. Its believed the largest fry puts a hormone in the water to slow the growth of the rest of the fry. So by doing small water changes everyday you are giving all fry the best shot at growing at the same pace rather than one large fry and the rest looking much younger
  14. Yes thats my chair I hate that my other tanks are in my bedroom and kitchen lol I can't see them from the comfy chair lol
  15. I've been looking for a heater that will fit in my ziss also living in New Hampshire its very cold in the winter and my hatches are taking 36 hours and some are dying. I read a post by Cory somewhere about trying and incandescent lamp. I have one arriving soon but I'm so scared I'm going to melt my hatchery lol
  16. 9 in a tiny apartment all for guppies snail and shrimp
  17. Albinos are genetically weaker which is the main reason they are considered more difficult. Best of luck to you!
