I have a single extension cord from a GFI outlet running into a 3 way splitter. I have 3 more power strips plugged into that splitter. One of the power strips has a timer on it, and all of the lights are plugged into that one. Then I have a strip for the 75 gallon, and then a strip for the 10s. I do have some heavy duty extension cords though just to cover it haha. Also I get the nervousness! It definitely is a balancing act, you don't wanna cause a fire haha. I'm not an electrician or a fire fighter... But I do work with electricity a lot as a hobby, and I contract with a fire department and have been told its fine haha

I personally ran an extension cord but I also swapped the socket out for a GFI Socket (very easy to do). That is something to take into account. I personally have 5 10 gallon tanks with each of their own 50 watt heater, light, and airpump, my 75 gallon with a Aquaclear 110, an air pump, a light, and a 300 watt heater. Non aquarium wise, I have a fridge, a couple hundred watts of Ham radios, a TV, and a dual monitor computer setup all in my room. Granted, I only share a breaker with the bathroom next to me in the hallway. There is a way to add up all of the wattage and amps and check what rating your breaker has... It is doable! haha. I'll show you my electrical setup in a minute. I know it scares some... but Its been setup for over 2 years and I've never had an issue haha.

Not under 18, but 23 and still living (and paying rent) with my parents. That being said, I cleared out my closet, and thinned out my items and got a dresser and put this in my closet. May or may not be an option, whether it be on this scale or even just a handful of 10 gallons for breading.

I started with a colony of 7 in a 10 gallon, and after a month or so I'm starting to see fry. I forget the exact math, but if you get 7 fish there's like a 99.5% probability that you'll get AT LEAST one male and one female.

I'm curious, as this seems to be a ongoing debate in the hobby. Do you prefer Flake Food, Pellet Food, or Granules? I own, buy, and feed all 3 types to my fish, because variety is the spice of life. BUT, Flake foods are hands down my favorite because of how versatile it is. If you had to pick one type, whats your favorite and why?

Sorry I went MIA everyone, crazy week! I've really enjoyed learning about everyones backgrounds! It's super interesting to me how widespread the hobby is. It's even more awesome to see the many side hustles to fund aquariums. I'm a big Side Hustler/Gig worker myself!

What does everyone do for work? It's always interesting to see what everyone in the hobby does for a living! I own a Portrait Photography Studio, I co-own a video production agency, and I have my YouTube channel (which mostly pays for the tanks). Today I'm chilling at a Fire station doing headshots!

Hey everyone! I've been looking for a heater to use with my Ziss Brine Shrimp Hatchery... My favorite heaters are Eheim Jagger heaters but they do not fit in the heater spot on the top of the hatchery. What heaters do you use? I'm looking to get one now that it's turning cold in California and my window is open all the time!

I consider my 75 Heavily Planted. My breeding tanks below I would consider lightly planted.

I'm in Antioch, and we have members that come in from as far as San Jose, Redding, Lake Tahoe... Every month. It's worth the trip once we start meeting in person again! But it's also worth tubing into our online meetings! I have fun hosting them haha.

An extra aquarium light or something will work as well, but the photo/video lights are usually more intense. If I take pictures of fish in the tank, I place the LED panel on the lid... just for extra light.
