    @TimeTravelerIt's complicated! We have 1 or 2 that occasionally stop by for a meal and might let you walk past without bolting. The three official cats were born there. Blackie and Brownie are feral to a point, and Shakes was abandoned later when the owners moved. Shakes is bipolar and we serve at his pleasure. Brownie unfortunately may have been a Covid cat and passed over Thanksgiving. Blackie meets us at the sidewalk and follows us to the door each day. He will not enter the building unless all of the doors are open, He enjoys a neck massage and ear scratch, but no one can pick him up. Blackie lives in his own 2 bedroom condo with central heat, w/w/w carpet 2" insulation rubber roof and vinyl siding. I keep saying "he" but all of the official cats have been fixed.

    Like @TimeTraveler, as a child I also tested allergic to everything. The doctor said no fur, feathers or dirt. So that left me with fish... and dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, mice, birds and houseplants. Today, I am back to just fish, houseplants, and the feral cats at the shop.

    There is a little bit of fuzz on the guide lines. A little common sense will keep you inside the lines. Intentionally or otherwise, a link to another retail site that sells fish/aquarium products, or mentioning that company's name, is promoting the other guy. It is not fair to your host. It is that simple.

    I'm with @Ken Burke on this. You have to do a water change on the other tank anyway, so why not reuse some of it? People seem to overlook the water itself as a source for the bacteria. When possible I like to use power heads on the under gravel filter. You get more water circulation, oxygenation and the water clears up faster.

    Store bought stands are just plain ugly. Almost any piece of old furniture is an improvement, and possibly stronger. My 29 is on an old kneehole desk. $25.00 at the thrift store.

    Water changes haven't bothered me as much since I started using my fish cart. The cart is still in it's early design stage, but it includes a switched power strip and a water pump so I don't have to lift 5 gallon buckets over my head. I can do other things while the water pumps and the whole thing can disappear into a closet.

    If my tank is so dark, why are the fish wearing dark glasses? I want an economical device for poor people to measure the quality and quantity of light in their tanks. LFSs near me don't use/lend them. and unless you have a fish room or grow plants for sale, the ROI isn't worth it for the average hobbyist.

    I would move as much decor, plants, etc. as you can into the new tank including water from both of the 29s. This adds bacteria and nutrients into the 25+ gallons of tap water already in the tank. I would follow that by blending over a day or three the water between the 29s, the goal being to have two and eventually 3 tanks with identical chemistry.

    I'm experimenting with crushed lava now. Containerized sand surrounded by crushed lava hides the container and can have a striking effect both with the plants and lighter colored fish. Mixed sand and lava may become an optical disaster ...or not, depending on your taste.

    C19 has made it a little difficult to find some days. My best results have come from removing and spraying plants and hardscape outside of the tank. Second best results came from treating before bedtime. I stop all of the pumps, spray the submerged plants and turn off the lights. Everything is restored the next morning. I can't prove it but Hornwort seems to be sensitive to peroxide and the bleach dip stunned my Anubia. Peroxide is still my go to product.

    I don't use either of those, and most of the water collects in the hinges. Now that you mention it, the splash could be from the hob filter. ...and the Barbs habit of striking at the food floating on the surface.

    How are you going to keep the substrate out of the filter? Those holes look huge!

    The closest thing that I have to organization is writing the name of the device on the power strip so I know which plug powers what ie: HTR, HOB, UGF, PH1... The strip are all screwed to the bottom of the shelf or high enough to provide natural drip loops.

    Why do I keep fish? I don't have to worry about stepping in fish poop. It is easier to maintain an emotional and physical detachment from fish We provide the best possible world that we can for them to live in, and they don't criticize. They provide an ongoing learning experience and creative outlet. Fish keeping in most situations allows us to eliminate seasonal concerns about their care. and our enjoyment. Fish keeping is also a hobby where you control just how expensive and time consuming the hobby gets. I am interested in almost everything, primarily anything out of doors. You already have my screen name, otherwise Dan I am.🙂

    I wish my plants had a room of their own! Sometimes my plants are the reason I do the water change.

    1. Anything that is not part of the a natural world created in the aquarium bothers me. That is why we try to hide the plumbing. 2. A heater and an on/off switch on top of the filter. 3. I don't except for inspecting and cleaning the impeller one or twice a year and an occasional filter wash or change, 4. With water and a tooth brush. 4a. The filters are not on separate switches so I either turn everything off or I go fishing for the plug. 5. Modified filter cartridges or sponge. HOB filters are grossly over priced and easy to modify. 6. The Aqueon filters I use either came with parts missing or a design flaw. The filter rests against the side of the housing on the output side. This results in water flowing thru less than a quarter of the media, or bypassing the media all together. A piece of sponge wedged between the housing and the filter on the output side allows the water to flow thru all of the filter media, and provides additional media for the good bacteria.

    Welcome, I think you will find your time here well spent. MTS is often brought on by adopting someone else's equipment and fish. Another way is to have your wife/husband agree to help. Good luck

    The plecos did not make it, and I've added salt as @Colu suggested. Now I have 10 gallons of Fungus cure for 1 tetra with an eyespot and fin rot. Do I : wait and see what effect the salt has, Take the fish to the medicated tank, or take the medication to the fish and ruin the whole tank. Obviously I would prefer to wait.

    Today was all about the 65 deep community tank. ☹️Committed the last of my suddenly ill Common Plecos to the flower bed. ...stared at the glowing green fungus cure tank that I never got to use. ...did another 30% water change on the community tank just in case. ...failed to find any of the Wisteria and Hornwort that I planted while the water level was down last night. 🙂The Moneywort is still where I planted it, and the Anacharis was broken loose but not eaten. Topped off the other tanks, wired up another LED light for the community tank, and of course I visited here frequently.

    I'll give it a shot, but it is probably to late for the last pleco It rolled over while I was posting. I'll do a second water change tomorrow.
