  1. Wow, this is going to be awesome. I'd be tempted to drive up there but it's a long trip from Boise . Looking forward to pictures and/or video 🙂 I could see this being as popular as comic con only for fish!
  2. Welcome Andy! 75 gallon tanks are great, lots of room for plants and fish!
  3. Welcome to the Forum! Love oscars.. if I ever get really big tank again I'll probably get another one. If you can, put up some pictures.
  4. I was doing a water change once and filling the tank back up with my power head. I had turned it off (with the hose in tank still) and since the pump/power head was below tank level, it sucked water back into it. One of my male guppies went right down the hose and through the power head into my water change bucket. Didn't phase him in the least.. I have my guppy tub in the shop so my pond lily will survive our freezing temps here in Idaho. It has been down in the 50s at night. Evidently I did not catch all of the fry and discovered 4 healthy fry and at least 4 or 5 really large neo shrimp in there...
  5. I feel you on the too much of the same in all the tanks thing. I re-scaped 4 tanks and tried to make them all different. If I had room I'd do a native species, river rock next.
  6. I'm not familiar with Pristella tetras, but more than a few people on here have honey gourami. Starting slow with stocking will let your filtration keep up with the bioload. I'd let your stem plants root a bit more before adding Kuhlis or Cories so they don't dislodge them. Eco-complete has always given me issue with my stem plants. Snails might be a good idea as well. Nice looking tank!
  7. The big challenge with otos is their survivability rate, depending on the source. I've found if they make it through the first month then you have great fry/shrimp safe algae control.
  8. Nice looking tanks! Really like the stump in the 29 gallon.
  9. Welcome to the forum! What size tank, and any thoughts on what you are going to stock it with this time?
  10. Sounds like a good plan so far, the Neos will do well with guppies. However, as was mentioned, a pair or three of guppies can soon become a couple hundred fry if they all have babies within a few weeks of each other... I have had this happen.
  11. @Fish Folk I love your native tank and am a big fan of a little sunlight on tanks! My wife's 55 gallon is probably the healthiest tank in the house. It gets about an hour in the morning and a bit in the after noon from the windows on either side..
  12. Wow, thanks for doing this! Very impressive tanks for a fish store, they look more like show tanks.
  13. I used one of those home depot muck buckets, it's like 18 gallons? Dumped really hot water on it then let it sit out there for a couple weeks? I left it in there until the water stopped looking like tea. I still leeches a bit in the tank but not bad. Oh, and wow what an awesome piece of wood!
  14. Wow, thanks for all the info! I'm thinking your level of research is a major factor in your success in breeding fish. ...that and whatever is in your water 🙂
  15. Mine love veggies, pretty much everything my shrimp like. Since most otos are wild caught, they typically are either starving when you get them (and usually do not recover well), or they have parasites. I typically get 5 to 7 at a time, and usually end up with 3 to 5 after all is said and done. I will say that I have only gotten mine from the big box stores and not on-line...
  16. In a tank that small, fish can get stressed easily with a bunch of new tank mates. Not a lot of room for them to get away and chill out until they are comfortable. I've had the best success with letting my first tank inhabitants get accustomed and acclimate to the tank before adding any new additions. This sometimes takes months depending on the fish. Your water parameters look good, so can't give you much advice there. As @Guppysnail stated, a lot of fancy guppies are bred for color and not sturdiness or disease resistance.
  17. OMG, you guys are killing me 🤣 There are times where I'm sure if i had a cement floor, there wouldn't be a spare wall anywhere not covered in tanks...
  18. Well, Platys would probably be easiest...
  19. yes, thanks for the update. Mystery fry are always fun 🙂
  20. Bladder snails are impervious to everything but physical damage it seems. Flatworm and planaria treatments are rough on snails like nerites and mysterys but I don't have MTS in any of my tanks, so not sure how they normally react.
