  1. Blanched dandelion leaves, carrots, zuchini. Green beans, and of course live foods like daphnia and baby brine shrimp. The gold fish get weekly duckweed from my tanks. Hasn't put a dent in the amount overtaking my tanks though, lol. I have a 1 gallon bag of it in my freezer, just haven't got around to making more shrimp food out of it.
  2. @gjcarew Wow, congratulations, and against some pretty tough competition! That tank look fantastic!
  3. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I second the idea for shrimp 🙂
  4. Looks like an emerald rasbora
  5. Great post. Nice to see working, successful tanks and breeding projects!
  6. As your tank "ages" you'll see more shrimp activity. Newly set up tanks aren't as ideal for shrimp as an older, established one with plenty of biofilm and some algae built up. Depending on your tetras personalities, they may be making your shrimp a bit nervous. Mine were a bit nippy, but after my shrimp got more comfortable they ignored them and did their thing. My shrimp in the 75 are out all the time and sometimes even tug of war over food with the fish, but they have been established for years in that tank. I have some blues in a 10 gallon with very boisterous guppies and they are more reserved and not out as much. Just to give you some perspective.
  7. Sorry about your danios.. I too get a smile every time I check this thread, awesome tank!
  8. Nerites are amazing algae lawn-mowers! There are pretty sensitive to some meds, but other than that (and the white eggs) they live a long time and really get to work on cleaning your tank.
  9. Wow, you've been busy. The work paid off, tank is looking really good! Also, thanks for the chuckle.. nerm glitter 🙂
  10. The fry will hunt those worm down with a vengeance. The adults will if the worms start swimming out in the open, but I've watched guppy fry systematically cruise the bottom looking for them. Overfeeding typically causes the worms to go into overdrive, it also makes fish fat and happy, and less likely to hunt down the worms 🙂
  11. I would use Ich-x for your situation. I don't think your shrimp will take the sudden increase in temp too well. I've used Ich-X several times on my tanks and it works quite well, fish and all inverts had no issues. I use @Cory's recommendation for dosing
  12. I have 3 what I'd call larger tanks, two 55s and a 75 gallon. All three have a HOB filter and a sponge filter. the 75 and one 55 are relatively under stocked. My wife's 55 is moderately stocked but is heavily planted. All the HOBs are running sponges only. I've been running them this way for years now, no issues.
  13. Your tank is looking fantastic! All your hard work paid off. Thanks for sharing!
  14. Following this topic! It's been less than a year since I got mine in their own tank. They are definitely more comfortable and bold now, but I've yet to see some spawning behavior. I have a strong suspicion that I need to work on @Fish Folk 's suggestions.
  15. Welcome to the forum! Live bearers are so fun, post pictures is you can.
  16. Love that tank, looking pretty nice! My CPDs really spend a lot of time exploring, They are pretty interactive fish. Yours are gonna love all that space.
  17. Looking good! I have a hard time with Java ferns as well. I love the tuft of moss on top of what looks like a skull 🙂
