  1. Wow, I hadn't checked this thread in a while, nice progress!
  2. I was buying stuff on-line from the store and signed up after getting some of the newsletters.
  3. Happy birthday! Ahh, well their hearts are in the right place 🙂
  4. I think the key for you is going to be the oscar (s). They have a huge bioload and they can be really destructive. The oscars I've kept would have destroyed a sponge filter. That was however in a 100 gallon, so when full grown he didn't have as much room as your 350 gallon would. Not sure if that matters to an oscar or not, I think it all boils down to how ornerey the individual is. I personally think an enormous tank with a large fish, some big tough plants, and nice piece of driftwood would look incredible.
  5. Idaho here. I'm very envious of you being so close to the Co-op 🙂
  6. for zucchini and cucumber, I use a zip tie around a rock. I just trim off the zip ties so there's about 3 inches sticking out and file the sharp edges off the end. Then just skewer the veggie. Probably not a good solution for beans however 🙂
  7. Nice fish room, I really liked the wall of tanks 🙂
  8. Woohoo, those kind of surprises are always awesome! Baby live bearers are voracious. We used to have a ten gallon tank that had a lot of detrius worms in it. I put 2 or 3 very small guppy fry in there, and in a couple days there was some really fat fry and very few worms...
  9. Wow, those are cool! The green paint makes this image look like a professional marketing image 🙂
  10. I finally got my brine shrimp hatchery set up in a permanent spot, so I fed my cpds some bbs today. Hoping if I do that for a bit they'll start spawning. Any breeding (as long as they don't have defects) is good for the hobby, these guys are not easy to get.
  11. Those tetras look very fast. I really like those mudfish!
  12. Wow, very cool, what an adventure!! Interesting that a few of the fish look like there's a mouthfull or two of fin missing... and we freak out if there's any perceived damage on a tank kept fish. Goes to show you that wild fish are pretty dang hardy.
  13. Very cool! I still get excited when my guppies and shrimp have babies, and they do it all the time.
  14. If I had the space, and a cement pad, I'd go as big as my budget would allow. Heaven help me if I ever win the lottery! For now I'll be content with what I have 🙂
  15. It's going to be a rough start for the fish, until the tank is cycled. Doing water changes will help, Add as many plants as you can, the more the better. If you use city water then also use something to take care of the chlorine when you do your water changes. Go light on feeding, however your otos are most likely going to need something. They are typically wild caught and are almost starving by the time you get them. Blanched spinach or zuchini might help.
  16. Nice looking tank, I like how it works with the bookshelf. You don't see white trim on a tank much, looks good!
  17. LOL, I sympathize with your plight, I have come so close to ordering a couple of those little guys. Literally been in the cart to check out and had to stop myself. I'll have to live vicariously through your adventure 🙂
  18. Welcome to the forum! What kind of fish, plants, tanks, etc. do you keep?
  19. Following this. I have in the past added root tabs directly underneath the plants, and have got what you are describing happen to those.
