  1. I probably need to glue my(or what’s left of my) java fern to some wood AKA my DIY PVC log. Still testing though, and ya gotta love that black beard algae. (yes, log tank is in my closet. I have a severe case of MTS 😂)
  2. That’s a neat fish. I have something similar, just happened by chance. Is it just me, or are guppies ridiculously hard to photograph?
  3. For me at least, I can NOT kill water wisteria, even when I try 😆 😆. Also, java moss is good, but it can clog up your filters. I have my java moss in a fake reeds plant to hold it in place. Another good one is Amazon Swords. Make sure the tank is big enough first though. Last, I’ve only had it for about 2 months, but Pennywort seems to be hardy too. In my main planted tank(10 gallon guppy tank), I use seachem flourish, but I usually forget so the tank only gets it between once a month, and once every 6 months.(to show you how bad that is, your supposed to do it weekly 😅)Even if (or when for me)you overdose it, You won’t have serious algae problems.
  4. You actually don’t have to do 3 separate category’s. (Sorry about a second post. Didn’t see yours until now 😅)
  5. Well, lets see. I created a poll Here on another thread. Go vote there, and we can see the final results.
  6. Finally got something half decent from the PETG. It isn’t for the inside of the tank, but it will be in contact with water(I never take it off). Introducing……. THE NET CLIP!!!!! Still trying to get a good looking decoration. It isn’t pretty, but at least the clip works 😃
  7. Funny to see this. I made this about a year ago, following The King Of DIYs video. The only reason I don’t use it very often is because I’m a bit limited on space. This is in our basement bathroom! 😂 Side note: I didn’t use the caps he used in the video. I drilled holes in the original caps and hot glued them in place. It’s just brine shrimp, and I don’t reuse the water, and I don’t do it very often, so I’m not worried about anything leaching from the hot glue. A top fin 10 gallon air pump works great for me. I got a nicer aqueon for my main tank, and used the old one here instead. Works great.
  8. Don ‘t feel bad. We used to live in upstate NY, and everything was at least 1/2 hour away, usually more. We didn’t have a LFS that would take plants either. Now, we moved again, and I’m spoiled by the LFS in the state, and then some!
  9. Same here 😂! It has bought me a day or 2 before I have time to do a water change. I always tell new aquarium people: ”my fish live off prime, or in it 😛 ”
  10. That’s soooooo wasteful! Will your LFS not give you store credit for them? Will your friends not trade plants with you?(aquarium plants that is) Also, I found this on google years ago. Wish I could give credit, but I have no Idea where it came from.
  11. Here is an Amazon link for a set of 40 assorted ones. One idea too is to put some silicone in the 3rd hole of a tee to seal it, but I don’t know how long that would last. I checked the coop’s website and found nothing. I assume it is only a matter of time though.
  12. So I like making things. Weather it is from PVC pipe(Ah hem @Dean’s Fishroom), 3D printed, or other scrap materials, I am always coming up with new Ideas to try. This thread has given me so many ideas that I hope to turn into products soon. I have always wanted to have a fish feeder that can feed Tablets, and the Aqua-Mate F14 has come closest to that. It feeds slowly though, and I want it to release all at once. Here is an Idea, but I want to improve it a ton. When I do get around to it, I will keep you posted. If anyone is great at coding/product design, let me know. It would be really cool to work with you. One of my recent projects has been making a internal filter out of PVC pipes. I hope @Cory sees this and shows it to Dean. I have since added suction cups to the filter. It is 3” PVC, with a cheap 80 GPH pump. My idea is to take a pre filter sponge and put some carbon/matrix in it for a cheap cartridge. I will answer any questions, and intend to create build instructions soon. I will put the link here. NOTE: the discolored PVC is from sanding. It is clean.
  13. Sooooooooo. This is a random poll for the best aquarium products. Add any others at the bottom. My favorite overall is seachem prime. Enjoy, and comment on your favorites. Below!
  14. So today I did a water change on my 10 gallon guppy tank. Before you tell me how overstocked it is, just know that it has been like that for over 18 months and I have had no problems except for an occasional Ph drop. First step is to gravel vac. Everyone knows how to do this so I won’t go into detail. Next is to propagate any plants or move them. I moved a small amazon sword to my 3 gallon aqua phonics tank, which it has been a long time since it was used for that. Now I found out that it works great to grow plants in the top(pathos, duckweed, salvaina). I have heard that swords can be grown out of water, so I will give it a try. It’s called my experimental tank for a reason!😉(I will post about this going into the perks of it soon) I move all excess plants to my 30 gallon tank and grow them from there. When that gets too full, I make a trip to my LFS with enough plants for a new can of fish food, filter replacements, or more commonly, another plant! I didn’t do it this time, but I will also clean my HOB filter. I have long since abandoned using filter cartridges, and stuck an Aquaclear 50 sponge in the filter, trimmed it to size, got a round sponge thingy for saltwater tanks as a pre-filter, and stuck the excess from the aquaclear sponge in there to hold it in place. $10 that lasts forever with the occasional clean, vs $20 every 3 months for filter cartridges that don’t work. What it the clear winner?(the aquaclear is clear😒) Lastly, I fill the tank back up with Seachem Prime treated tap water, and mark my Water Change Chart you can find here. Feel free to post your questions and comments below. Oh, one more thing. All but one of my plants are real. The one fake plant is in there to hold the java moss in place. Helps tidy things up a ton.
  15. Don’t know much about ADFs, but as for guppies and really anything(I’m quoting @Cory on this), you can’t go wrong with crypts. Nice guppies by the way. I haven’t seen white ones in awhile.
  16. First and foremost, don’t let the size of my post fool you. It is actually really simple. Honestly, it depends on the parents. Some angelfish will eat the eggs, while others will do nothing, and others will care for the eggs to death. If this is your first time breeding angels, I recommend leaving the eggs in and seeing what happens. If they eat the eggs(remember that all angels will eat eggs with fungus. Don’t get this confused), than now you know to remove the parents. Some angelfish will lay eggs and lose interest. This usually happens with young angels, but they will learn eventually. A must is to put an air stone in the tank and direct a fine stream of air onto the eggs. This artificially oxygenates the eggs since the parents aren’t there. If you do remove the parents, put in a few drops of Methylene Blue from fritz, or I have heard that pimafix helps too. Both are optional, but help reduce the chance of egg fungus. Remember, it will likely take a few tries before you can succeed in hatching the eggs. One more note is that I have 3 angels, and 2 of them spawn regularly. I just let them do their thing though as I have no tanks to spare. I only saw one angel in the picture. Do you have a male? The eggs won’t hatch without a male to fertilize them.
  17. I horde aquarium plants. This is very appropriate for me and likely you as well.
  18. Don’t you hate it when you search google for “guppy’s” and this pops up: I have always hated this show. Even when I was a kid.
  19. Dragonflies only eat the fish fry. If you have see and of the Michaels fish room videos on YouTube, you will know this by heart. I would say it is only a threat if you are trying to breed fish or have small fish(<1.5”). Otherwise, they are just ugly.
  20. Not many problems, my only suggestion is set the feeder a little early since it drops the majority of the food 30-60 mins later. Also, if you use flake food, I recommend hooking it up to an air pump to help keep it dry. Saves a TON of cleanup time.
  21. Huh. Crazy how a simple phone can take pictures as good as canons nowadays.
  22. When I get ich, I start with some Aquarium salt, and if that doesn’t work, move to something like ichX, which is close to never. I say treat about 1 week after the spots disappear, and then do a series of 30% water changes.
