I think you may be over-thinking it.. my first shrimp ever were Crystal Reds.. that was just about a month ago.. I bought just a few bc I was figuring that my first batch would die... but no... A month later all of my females are egged-up and looking to pop (3 of them)... AND 2 cherries are berried as well.... I really believe these shrimp can adapt to almost any parameters... as long as the change is not too abrupt... and the water remains stable... I dripped mine in over a 4 hour period... my PH is 6.4 zero on NH4, NO2, and NO3,.... GH 6... and KH around 2.... TDS 209

Welcome, brother.. Look forward to seeing what you set up... 😃

I tend to agree with Tolstoy... A sump is a great way to simplify your filtration... no need to complicate it.... lest you spend more time worrying about your sump than your tank...

Something is living in your tank! I would take that as a compliment)

That looks GREAT! I love the color of that dresser. That's gonna look amazing with the tank done! I'm no expert on re-sealing a tank.. but why not? Now's the perfect chance.. You are sooo right... It is awesome to have drawers right there in your stand to keep your supplies in... SO handy.. (Even in my setup i kept one drawer as a regular drawer) You're gonna have room for EVERYTHING in yours! Can't wait to see more of this project... NICE WORK!

Not happy with the customer service
Toobit67 replied to Jimmy Cleveland's topic in General Discussion
You got a dead plant... and immediate refund... And you are here bitching about it... All I can say is.... try some other sellers... See if you get that kinda treatment..... Cory... the friggin BOSS.... responded to you.... you got your money back.. you were apologized to.. If that's not enough for you... Sorry, I'm from Jersey and have no filter... -

When it was all closed up, you would think it was a tank sitting on a dresser

This was my 29g reef tank with 29g sump... I modified a chest of drawers to hold it all... worked perfectly

Does anyone have experience with Bacopa caroliniana?
Toobit67 replied to Maggie's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
I dont know that it is 'wrong' to plant it that way... but mine didnt seem happy... they weren't 5 stems of the same plant all spread out... seemed to be shading each other... I'm no expert by any means... but I know mine seem much better with some separation.. just relaying my experience) -

I got some Bacopa C. from my LFS when I first started my tank.... It came in a bunch of 5 stalks, and not knowing any better... i planted it that way It looked pretty sad.... lower leaves were melting... and even some of the top leaves were turning brown... So I took it out... separated them... pruned off all the dying leaves, cut down the stalks a bit... and replanted separately... They have been happily growing ever since... (about a month) -
Presuming you have enough flow with your return pump, and you're just using it to oxygenate your water... I say go for it! It will do it's job just fine in your sump.

I just noticed I have some Hydra in my shrimp/snail tank! Looking for advice... the tank is only about a month old, heavily planted, cycled early with some pre-cycled media.. Parameters are pretty stable: PH=6.5 NH4=0 NO2=0 NO3=15 GH=6 KH=3 TDS=205I I also have 6 little fish fry that hitchhiked in on my plants... and ive been feeding them very finely ground flake,,, i feed the shrimp Hikari Crab Cuisine... just a couple pellets per day... whatever they dont eat... my adult Mystery snail grabs quickly.. I have 5 nice Crystal reds... and about 6 or 7 Cherrys.... all of whom seem well...

I don't mind their presence... The more life in my tank the better! 😃
