  1. I'm guessing some kind of limpet? I'm familiar with salt-water limpets... but not freshwater.
  2. Hmmm.. she's not moving much of anything right now... She has barely moved in the last couple hours... starting to worry me..
  3. Ok.. she is out and about again today.... here's a little better shot of her...
  4. Guy has a 10 gallon tank with 3 Guppies in it... wife: you gonna get any more fish, hun? husband: The internet says only one inch per gallon.. wife: Sweetie... that's not 10 inches....
  5. Welcome, friend... you came to a good place.. 😃
  6. BACK INFO: First time keeping shrimp... I have a heavily planted 10g that I cycled with the assistance of some cycled media that i got from a local plant/fish seller. My parameters were running pretty steady at about: PH: 6.3 Ammonia: close to zero Nitrite: zero Nitrate: about 20ish GH: about 5 KH: zero TDS: 215ish The tank is still under a month old... so I was leery of putting much in it... so I figured i would try just a few Cherries, to see how they did.... went to a LFs that I hadnt tried before, but the only shrimp they had was some Crystal reds.. I figured ah... my PH is low due to all the Fluval substrate i have... so maybe try just a few to see how they do... so I bought 3 of their CRS.. One of them jumped out of the net and it took the kid 15 tries to get it off of the floor, so i figured ahh... that one is a goner... but i brought them home anyway... (they didnt charge me for the floor victim) I tested the water they came with while I drip-acclimated them... The PH was like 7.1 and the GH/KH was a good few points off from mine... so I dripped them real slow.. a drop every 3 seconds or so... for a good 5 hours.... and hoped.. To my surprise... they took right to it... I know that Crystals aren't really an 'ideal' starter shrimp.... but so far so good) Sooo.... 8 days later... I found a molt in my tank... looked like a good one as far as i can tell ... The next morning at lights-on, I saw one of my females on a leaf... and she looked different than before... Then she took off and I haven't seen her the rest of the day.... I have read that they mate right after they molt... then I'm guessing they go hide until their new shell hardens? let me know what you think....
  7. It makes a nice little cloud that hangs there for a good while... the particles are mostly too small to see, which I suppose is the whole point. Great advice.. TY guys... 😃 You think a little pinch once a day is enough?
  8. Wow.. that hard-boiled yolk really dissolves... they went nuts for it.. i turned off my filter and just let it sit there and Batman and Robin just strafed through it for 10 minutes... there may be hope for these little guys.. TY
  9. It isnt pine, it's oak... I boiled it and soaked it until it sank... it's been in there a couple weeks and no discolor yet... I know it is leaching tannins... but i'm ok with that
  10. Too tiny... like under 1/4 inch to get a pic of... But I have exactly two itsy-bitsy fish fry... may have come in on my Dwf lettuce roots... i don't know... They look like 2 eyes and a transparent tail, zooming all over the top of my tank... usually not far from each other... I didn't invite them... but they are here now.. and i want to care for them as best i can until it's time for them to go.... No clue what species they are... but this is a shrimp/snail tank... so.. they are gonna have to go at some point.. They are very active... Does my heavily planted (although young) tank have enough food for them?
  11. I have about a good 2 inches of Stratum in my 10g that is cycling... I've been adding plants over the last 2 weeks... but I'm wondering if and when I should add any ferts... i have Bacopa, Java moss, Anubia, Moss ball, Frogbit, and some really nice dwarf water lettuce that I just picked up from a local guy today..
  12. Welcome to the Forum... Your tanks look fantastic! Looking forward to more pics,, I'm about to order my first ever shrimp... how long have you had them?
  13. Great looking tank.... best of luck, arc!
  14. For sure ....H.K...As I said... I was in the saltwater-coral reef hobby for a long time... was a member of MANY different forums.. and back then... there was almost a snobbish attitude given to ppl who were trying to learn.... Almost like those with 'the knowledge' felt power over you.... it didnt sit well with me.. And I wasnt going to tolerate that again... That's why I am here... 😃
  15. Thanks, Squeege... nah man... I'm startin' small... FW and plants are out of my expertise.. and shrimp? They weren't even a thing back when I was doing it... so I got alot to learn)
  16. Hiya guys, Long-time hobbyist here, was a coral-reef maniac (you almost have to be) all through the 2000's, until Hurricane Sandy knocked our power out for 5 days and it got so cold in my house that I lost everything.. That was 8 yrs ago, and I swore I would never get another tank.. But I didn't pinky-swear) I was always envious of some of the gorgeous planted FW tanks that I saw... and now with Covid forcing us to spend so much more time at home... i just got sick of looking at my dead boring furniture.... SO.... I got the itch again.. Started binging on Youtube vids... SO much has changed since I last had a FW tank, but it's exciting! I won't say I 'stumbled' upon Co-op... because I probably watched a thousand or more videos and streams before I decided that this is where I should land... I like the vids... the info... the experience... the ABSENCE of over-produced presentations... I feel like Corey just talks to you like a friend... a friend who knows a helluva lot more than i do... and is willing to share.... SO... I have a little 10g that i've been cycling with liquid ammonia for about 2 weeks... picked up a few plants, but i want more... i plan on getting some Cherry shrimps... MAYBE 1 or 2 tiny fish
