  1. @Cory and @Dean’s Fishroom had good things to say about Hikari's Vibra Bites. Both my angelfish and my baby discus ate them readily. I was shocked that the discus ate it right away, It was the first time the baby discus had eaten dry food! I think it is because Vibra Bites looks a little like worms.
  2. Watson (on the tank) has a twin sister named Cricket. I'll send her photo next. They both wear tuxedos all the time.
  3. Exactly! I have had the same sort grow and yank cycle with java moss and Riccia flluitans too. The other plant that has to be composted on a regular basis is hornwort, which you also seem to be blessed with ☺️.
  4. What a great forum. So many good resources and knowledgeable people. Kinda cool we are talking about Ohm's law. I suspect Dave may be on to something, that is, even though on paper this solution should work, the problem might a mismatch between watch the product was designed to do versus what we are asking it to do.
  5. Check out this thread. Lots of people use the restaurant style metal shelving. @Bill Smith was able to pick up some for $40 from Home Depot. https://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-4-Tier-Wire-Garage-Storage-Shelving-Unit-in-Chrome-36-in-W-x-54-in-H-x-14-in-D-EH-WSTHDUS-004/204466874 I have many of my tanks on rolling tool chests and yes I do have a concrete floor. Which also makes it easy when I spill water.
  6. Wow! Those are fabulous photos! I notice you refer to the first fish in the past tense. Is she gone now?
  7. I’ve been struggling to actually write anything. I manage to write a line or two down each day, but I would like to do more.
  8. Amazon Alexa has kept from from killing my baby brine shrimp twice today, but sometimes I need a reminder to remind me to set the reminder.
  9. @Brandy, You can have these 3 no charge if you want them. One has small crack, but I am pretty sure it doesn't leak. I don't remember why I have 2 sets, but sometimes I end up with 2 of the same thing. I might even have the stand for these. I will see if I can find it.
  10. I wouldn't be afraid to using any of those rocks. I don't know how I know that, but they all are crystallinish, metamorphicish, just look unreactive to me. Definitely no limestone there!
  11. Bettas prefer still water or weak current at best. They are mostly pretty tough though and will adapt to almost anything. I have picked up one off the carpet that was nearly as dry as a potato chip and thrown her in the 5 gallon waste water bucket only to walk back later and see the betta swimming around. She actually did ok and bred for me later, but initially she didn't have much in the way of fins.
  12. Dang! Out of stock temporarily at the Co-op. Oh well, it will me give time to work up a bigger order. Probably better to have bunch items in one box, than 12 items coming in 12 boxes. I usually am such an impulse buyer. When I think of something, I just order it so I don't have to remember to do it latter. I think I will write this down in my Aquarium Record Keeping Journal that I am attempting to keep 🙂.
  13. Merlin's favorite place to bask is under one of the lights on the angelfish tank
  14. It just dawned on me that ya'll are sending water out the hook end. For me I have got the water going the other way. For me the hook is the origin point for siphoning water. I never thought about putting the hook on the tank receiving the water. I need to order another hook so I can have one on both ends. I can't believe I didn't think of that!
  15. I rigged up something similar. My big angelfish tank is the source of water for all of my other tanks when doing water changes. Fortunately the top of that big tank is at about 7 ft and all my other tanks are between 30" and 60"s. I used a piece of 1 inch flexible tubing and the outflow outlet from an undergravel filter with sponge cut to fit in the intake. I also put an on/off cutoff switch on both ends and this has simplified doing water changes quite a bit.
  16. My two best buddies these days are Siri and Alexa. Alexa! Set a timer for 5 minutes! In my morning routine I pull the air from the baby brine shrimp and start draining water from the baby discus tank. Then I set an alarm using Alexa for 5 minutes. When the first 5 minute alarm goes off, I go back to my utility room where my brine shrimp rack is and do my first harvest. I keep setting alarms until all the water has been changed in my fishroom. If I get blackworms or white worms out of the fridge, I set an alarm. Until I got in the habit of using Alexa and Siri, I would suffocate my brine shrimp due to leaving them without air for an hour. Or even worse, I would overflow a tank during a water change. Knock on wood, but no disasters recently.
  17. The only way I have been able to raise angelfish fry in a community tank is to have the tank choked with plants. Even then only 2% of the fry make it, but boy howdy, those fry are the top 2% of their class. They love your water, they love your food, and they are really smart!
  18. I am looking forward to visiting the Fishroom in North Raleigh NC. I heard it is pretty good.
  19. Breeding clownfish! So cool. They look just like a pair of dwarf cichlids breeding.
  20. What kind of software are you using to create the 3d rendered plans?
