  1. Remember the guidelines say that on this forum 'We don't discuss other aquarium related companies both positively or negatively.'
  2. If nest guarding counts as parental care then I would recommend pygmy sunfish. I had had multiple generations come and go in a 8 gallon aquarium. They are very hardy, but eat only live foods.
  3. I don't think there is anything to join, just create an account. It is where I buy my live cultures.
  4. Does it have a couple of dorsal fins? If so, it could be a gudgeon.
  5. Are ya'll related somehow?
  6. Murphy may be the Co-Op mascot, but to me Pooka is the forum mascot.
  7. No heater but it averages about 3ft deep. Over the course of the last year the temperatures have ranged from as low as 32°F at the surface to 95°F at the surface. I didn't take any temperature measurements in the deep parts of the pool.
  8. I put rice fish in my pond last July (at Cory's suggestion) and even though there was ice on the pond in the winter, the rice fish survived nicely and are doing great. I live in zone 7B in central North Carolina.
  9. I had to get the longer tools to work in my 36" deep aquarium. And as @Phantom240 mentions, I have had my wife and my youngest son go into the big aquarium to move hardscape around. I know I have photos of that somewhere. 🙂
  10. Congratulations @Patrick_G! That tank is beautiful above and below the waterline.
  11. @Fish Folk has been one of the finest quality additions to forum over the last year. The volume and quality of the content has been nothing short of impressive.
  12. Really long tools are what has helped me.
  13. Thank you so much @Trish, I am definitely going to try this!
  14. You know I only post the pretty ones! 🙂 Thank you for all the votes!
  15. That was an awesome livestream. Anyone who missed it , whether you are interested in bettas or not should really watch this. Very informative about not just bettas, but also about much of the basics of breeding that applies to most tropical fish. Gianne was very lively and knowledgeable and has set the bar very high for future livestreams! Good job @Zenzo!
  16. Top 5 Practical questions, that is my real top 5 What do you feed newly hatched betta fry? What sort of water change system do you use? Any concerns about cool air passing over the surface of the aquarium during labyrinth organ development What do you consider the best floating plants for a betta aquarium How and at what age do you select the bettas you will raise and what do you do with the others? If there were time I would ask these 5 open ended questions What would your dream betta look like? What is your favorite betta you have every owned? How much time commitment per week is required from you to maintain your operation? Are there any exciting developments in new betta strains? Who do you look up to and follow with regards to bettas?
  17. Very likely yes. I have several tank planted tank with no filter and there are no problems. The beneficial bacteria in your aquarium will handle the load.
  18. Here is the bubbles video from Irene that @Guppysnail is talking about:
  19. I would stay away from pipe fish because as noted by @Colu above, feeding them will be very difficult.
  20. And then there were the CARE packages. Since there had never been CARE packages (or even talk of one) when I got one in that first month, July 2020, I thought something had gone wrong with my order and contacted Candi to complain. Boy was I embarrassed to find I was complaining about receiving a gift from the Co-Op. But I wasn't the only one: CARE package recipients during the first year of the forum: July 2020 - @Daniel, @Bill Smith, @MickS77 September 2020- @Streetwise, @RovingGinger, @StephenP2003 October 2020 - @Brandy, @yannachka, @DaveSamsell November 2020 - @ange, @Jessica., @TheDukeAnumber1 January 2021 - @ADMWNDSR83, @Alesha, @Fish Folk February 2021 - @Maggie, @James Black, @Betsy March 2021 - @Aubrey, @Kirsten, @H.K.Luterman July 2021 - @Colu, @Patrick_G, @quirkylemon103
  21. Here is one side of my pool that has angelfish, ricefish, wild swordtails, and many others, including a gigantic glob of anacharis/elodea. The other side has duckweed. 🙂
