  1. As wonderful a time of year that it is @Guppysnail it's un-nerving to shorten their lifespan... something so unusual should definitely have a detour!
  2. So sorry for your loss, hope you will be up and running again soon. You mean't the best. Though my decades of keeping fish I've made mistakes too, some so simple, but through learning I've found my first defence is basic water changes for parameters that are off, instead of chemicals. Perhaps this wasn't an easy time to do maintenance. There's nothing like being up in the wee hours trying to fix a problem, ask me how I know! Your water sounds intricate as well.
  3. Amazing video of a native frog on Vancouver Island. I have seen the out of water migration of these frogs as they come out on the road, frogs everywhere, just heartbreaking that many get squished by vehicles.
  4. I will miss Murphy's personality. Thoughts to all who cared and loved him.
  5. I had a cat that I constantly had to keep away from my houseplants, I put up barricades, cages, hung them high, he still managed to get them... he became progressively more ill and never recovered. I would n't take the chance. I can only now have my houseplants in the open as my final cat doesn't have any interest in them.
  6. Agreed, should have mentioned that. These are also temporary as once rooted to the driftwood, they get snipped off.
  7. Pathos works for me in the 20 long... a little too well! No fertilizer, low nitrates to speak of. Six Cory's, 2 Rams, Hillstream loach.
  8. After a few months mine attached itself to everything and grew prolifically in large clumps. For me the downside was it attracts debris and if I vac'd and disturbed it, it would break off in bits and establish itself in other places. I was always having to clean the HOB filter tubes. Now that the novelty has grown off, I've of cleaned the tanks of it!
  9. These can be helpful, I have several pieces of driftwood using this type of tie to attach Anubias. These ties are the smallest ones I could find.
  10. Eat your heart out Burt Reynolds!
  11. Lovely work! @Zeaqua Keep it up!
  12. @Zeaqua My pygmy Cories aren't reclusive at all, just moved some to a 20 long with 6 Pepper Cories. Friendly as anything to each other, and like hanging out together! I was pleased!
  13. I have a group of 5 adult Bolivian rams in a well planted 40 gal breeder, and another set of 4 in a 30 gal long, again well planted, they like to have barriers from each other. One tank is 3 males and 2 females, and the other tank 3 males and one female. 2 of the males like to stay together and 1 male has paired off with a female. If I noticed any pronounced bickering I just switched fish until both tanks worked.. they seem to be compatible now. I'd bred these ones myself. When they were teenagers they were really well behaved and didn't stay out all night! 😉
  14. Buce variety's are nice if you can get them. Subwassertang is also easy and can be formed into balls.
  15. Bently Pascoe just steamed a unique video tribute to one of his Dojo Loaches that meant something to him, it was quite touching. I like all my fish, but some of them do stand apart from others in personality. Yes, they do have personality, just look at Aquarium Co-Op's Murphy. Mine was Sid Vicious, and now Clowny, what was yours? Condolences on your loss of Danger Noodle Bentley. 🙏
