Fluval Plant 3.0 Pure White question
Streetwise replied to Vyce's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
The color in the newer interface seems to more accurately represent the colors of the LEDs. We have a Fluval Plant 3.0 thread: -
I’m at a loss. Wife wants me to quit.

I have used dual siestas in all my tanks for a couple of years now. It works really well for me. -

I collected plants from Lake Champlain, but even though I kept a bucket quarantined for a couple of months, I could not take the risk of introducing zebra mussels. Free plants were not worth it.

I was planning on racing tonight, but we were short on crew, so my buddy took his powerboat out, and we just took photos and relaxed.

Wikipedia: The lifespan of a zebra mussel is four to five years.[6] A female zebra mussel begins to reproduce within 6–7 weeks of settling.[12] An adult female zebra mussel can produce 30,000 to 40,000 eggs in each reproductive cycle, and over 1 million each year.[13] Free-swimming microscopic larvae, called veligers, drift in the water for several weeks and then settle onto any hard surface they can find. Zebra mussels also can tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions, and adults can even survive out of water for about 7 days.[citation needed]

Please do not mess with zebra mussels! They reproduce at astronomical rates, impact other mollusks, outcompete beneficial algae, and more.

I shared that video here before I had a chance to watch it. I finally watched it. This is the best original content that I have seen on YouTube. @JimmyGimbal and @Cory, when you put everything together, you need to submit it to a film festival. Can you guys provide a credits list on the forum for all the camera folks?

I don’t see this as a debate; it is a nice discussion of recipes.

This is similar to the challenge of filtration for my school turtle tank.

Plant ID, Fert and Algae help.
Streetwise replied to Twigflinger's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
@Twigflinger, with the colors you mention, I think of Cyanobacteria, but I am not sure that is what I see in your photos. -
I think @Cory may have other videos on this topic, but this is the one I found.

There is another scenario with organic soil tanks. When I set one up, I am adding tons of nutrients and bacteria via the soil, and I plant heavily on day one. I can add fish as soon as I want. Diana Walstad explains this in her book.

@Ken, a friend of mine made me a full English breakfast, and I learned that the baked beans are different. Here is a quote I found: "American-style baked beans are cooked with pork (bacon) molasses and brown sugar and the sauce is much sweeter and thick. These British-style beans are without meat, with a thinner tomato sauce with carrots, celery and Worcestershire sauce."

@JimmyGimbal must have been busy, because @Cory has a new Peru video: Sweet!

Top Fin has a water change kit with an in-line pump with a power switch on the cord. I got it for a project idea: I don’t know how powerful it is, but I will check later. Cory has a video demonstrating a water change kit with a submersible pump.

When I got the new multi-test strips and ammonia test strips, I had to re-learn a few techniques: Read the swirl and timing instructions for each product. Let each strip dry on a suface that will not leach.

what retailers does aquarium co op order from
Streetwise replied to RockoB's topic in General Discussion
For live fish, the forum allows links to Aquahuna, Aquabid, and eBay. Any wholesale details are legitimate trade secrets. It takes years to build and maintain those relationships. -
