  1. Sad news... #2 was gaining color looking healthy, still getting shoved around but otherwise healthy looking, it was fattening up etc. one morning is saw him in the corner not moving. My suspicions were correct he passed. Upon further reading I may be dealing with an "inbred/farmed"dilemma of some sort that I can not find any documentation about... I added more plants and hiding places that solved nothing. So I still have #1 and the other two are getting along or so it seems. I think I might have to tap out on these discus. Who knew, when people are talking about it being difficult to take care of discus, who knew that it was behavior problems not water parameters or feeding. Anyone interested in rehoming (#1), or (#3 and #4) or all 3 red marlboro discus? If you take all I'ld be willing to let you have the 29gallon with 1 large sponge filter w/bubbler and 1 heater. I'll keep all the little creatures though.
  2. This simple internal filter can be used for fresh or salt water tanks 🙂
  3. I have 4 bully discus, 5 fat candy cane tetra, 12 neon tetra, 1 guppie, 23ish red cherry shrimp, can't count the snails... only two sponge filters in a 30 gallon box. I just did my first water change in 6 months. Plan on doing one at least once a month as Cory has noted evaporation replacement is not a water change 🙂
  4. I have two, one barebottom for strict QT and one with substrate, for corals algae and fish that I kind of trust and just want to watch... of course if any type of ich or what have you arises, the substrate gets tossed...
  5. Slight detour and how I've been cooking my live rock...
  6. But wait, there's more. Time to spice it up a notch. MikeyMikeMike aquascaper from down under is now my mentor...
  7. Our new Saltwater Goldfish: By contrast you can tell these cute little guys really care about one another... This was their introduction to the tank. They had all traveled on the road for 5 hours. The one at the bottom had a tough trip. Notice how they all stick around him. Also, off camera he immediately sunk to the sand when I put them in, two of them followed him down, they both rounded up the rest to bring them over and one of them would stay on the sand with him.
  8. Nice tank! Love the plants you have. My main concern would be that window, I know you've blacked out 3 sides, any chance you can black out the top with full on canopy? My fully planted tank was all blacked out on 3 sides like yours, there was one corner on the top, maybe 10% that allowed light in from a nearby window, low and behold algae sprouted from that corner, I cleaned and cleaned.. snails shrimp all nogo w/in 2 weeks of blacking out the top, it was all under control. This is just my experience though. I'm sure our tanks are night and day so, grain of salt 🙂 Looks great! You want some bully discus?
  9. Tank plastic rim cracking fix? Thanks to a member suggestion, we'll see if it holds or if Patrick is wet behind the ears... hahaha
  10. That's a beautiful aquarium art you have there. here's a "quick 13min no cuts video of kinda feeding time" I just rolled. lot's of junk in water column I cleaned the glass for easier viewing 🙂
  11. Thanks for the feedback, you're the first 🙂 I wish that was the case, and I'm no expert... the big one keeps #2 in a corner 24/7 except for feeding time (he's too busy eating and I put plenty in there so #2 get some). I'll have to research more on breeding behavior to be sure though. I added more plants, it's only helped a tiny bit. #2 still has to cram in the corner in an awkward tilted position. I'm about ready to give up. Might have to turn one of my nano20long into a sump situation and put him in there. The smaller two #3 and 4 still duke it out a bit but they are very equal in size now, maybe that's the key... keep them separate until they grow up?
  12. Hi all, I'm still at it, a bit behind in the vids, trying to catch up. Can't wait until Corey can travel so we can experience it all w/o moving much 🙂
