What did you get done today?

I took a slight hiatus from thinking about fish 24/7 to watch a movie, Everest, and then had a sudden fascination with Mount Everest, its history and the trekking routes, the issues climbers face, the economic and environmental impacts, etc. I'm going to buy a couple of books about this, I think.

Back to FISH, I got my A-C order today and am especially excited about my new Fluval Plant 3.0 light (packaged well, too). I also got a Christmas moss bridge, which did pretty well considering the weather and time (9 days). And some boring root tabs (plants say not boring), the pretty plant liner, and the exciting sticker!!

Committed Snowplow to the garden.

I'm not sure which ticks me off more: the sudden unexpected passing of the most active algae eating Plecos ever, or as a final act of defiance, dying in the middle of the Anacharis cloud, requiring me to uproot all of it to extract the body.😖

Solved the cat hair problem many years ago, placed the cat tree far enough away so he can't jump on the aquarium but so he can see everything move inside the tank. We refer to it as his Big Screen TV. Ever since we got the Kessils he's now got 1080P HDTV.  We've got two Plecos that have their own tank where they can rearrange the substrate any way they want and we've had them for about ten years now, and our cat goes to check on them every morning when the light comes on in their tank, spends about fifteen minutes with them and instead of hiding they actually come to see him. It's the funniest thing.

Brandy, love the tank and the Meezer. Had one until about two years ago, broke my heart when he died at 13.

My last boy was almost 18. It took a few years before I was ready to have another.

Wasabi is not remotely interested in the fish. He wants the heat from the light. Or to steal any of their food. Hikari comes in the same type of foil package as cat treats! 🤣

Yup, same type package as Friskies Party Mix Natural Yums, Boo-boo will run anyone over down the stairs when he hears a package being opened in the kitchen. Boo-boo  got named after Yogi Bear's sidekick, "because he is smarter than the average bear!" Loves sunshine spots in the morning for his nap, "shhhh... human no talking, no petting this is serious stuff!"

We had a cat when I was growing up that would coming tearing through the house whenever he heard the electric can opener running. We ate a lot of tuna when I was young and my mom would always give him a little bit, so he would get excited thinking she was opening a can of tuna.

@Streetwise, oh how I miss cat hairs and cat purrs and cat cuddles! I had two kitties, Hiei who we adopted at 8 weeks old in 2003, passed away in 2019, and Ginnie, who we adopted at 5 months old in 2004, passed away in 2018. But I have my dog, Zodiac (named after a prior racehorse horse who was rescued from substandard conditions and given that name), who provides both me and the fish with daily doses of undercoat. Zodiac says a great big NO to another dog or any more cats (I'm afraid he might actually kill a new cat as I've seen him viciously go after one who came into the yard - I had to go down the street and warn the neighbor that I love cats with all my heart but Zodiac will kill her cat if he catches it in his yard and I cannot stop him - would if I could!). He was not alpha dog when the cats were alive, but he is now, and he knows it. He is befuddled by the fish. He doesn't have great vision and doesn't realize they're alive, yet I feed and talk to them and do stuff with the water.

Hiei shortly before passing away (he had liver cancer and was under constant veterinary care).

A box they used to like to sleep in sometimes.

Being cuddly with each other- they were in love.

This is the closest Hiei and Zodiac ever got to each other. There was a shift in personalities after Ginny died.

I had a cat/dog combo for many years.  Abbey adopted me and Cinnamon was a rescue.  Your photo reminded me that the cat could only get that close when Cinnamon wasn't looking.  I think she followed the dog around just to be annoying.

HAPPYDAY

So today I got to pick up my new and long wanted  fish  L236 (Hypancistrus Snow White)   They are   rare in the trade here. And  for me they are expencive. The total cost of the 2 I got was 220 euro ($266). Now  I have a male  and a female  I  think . they are now 1.5 inch so sexing  is hard to do. And now wait till they grow out and maybe if lucky they will spawn for me. Greetings from dutchfishguy

Did some plant trimming/duckweed removal in the 40 and 29. Moved a small sword to the back near the filter so my featherfin can have more room and gave the giant sword a good chop. Both then got a small water change.

Before and after:

Having a lunch break, and then it'll be time for betta, pea puffer and snail tank maintenance (all 5 gallon tanks each so it'll be quick).
