  1. Apologies for the late response, the unistrut has worked out great and we will either use it or some aluminum type of material that I've seen some saltwater hobbyist using.
  2. We decided to make the top row of 10s shrimp tanks and also had a surprise from our cory cats.
  3. My vote is panda cory. 😂
  4. I would like to brag on Michelle a bit as she placed with 4 of the 5 groups of her Caridina shrimp she sent in for the The American Shrimp Contest. She’s been working hard on these and I couldn’t be happier for her. Please don’t hold the poor photos against me, as I have no knack for this and just point and click.
  5. Hahaha, that was one of the judges with the hammer but yes we were wondering around throughout the day and passed by you several times! Sometimes together, some times with kids, sometimes with kids and Grandkids, sometimes alone but I have to admit my feet and legs are a little sore, 😂. I’ll not be wearing flip flops next year for sure. The raffle area was crazy packed!!! I definitely tried to stay out of that area at raffle time.
  6. We don’t drip acclimate when moving from tank to tank either as our tanks a very similar in water parameters and I don’t recall ever losing any this way. About the only time we drip acclimate is when we receive Caradina shrimp which have usually been shipped in which we have minimal losses doing this. I don’t suggest this but typically with neos we bring them up to temp then plop and drop with a good success rate.
  7. Not sure if I saw anyone either but Michelle and I worked the shrimp contest both mornings so if you saw a guy with a mustache and beautiful blonde lady that was us 😀.
  8. Agreed, I’d suggest starting with the highest quality possible even if it means waiting while you save up more money. Depending on the strain the quantity will degrade significantly if you don’t cull as well.
  9. Michelle and I will be there both days volunteering at the shrimp competition both mornings.
  10. Hi from DFW as well, my wife and I will be at Aquashella next weekend!
  11. I’d take my chances and buy a pair if I only had I aquarium to put them in.
  12. A pair would do great in that tank. You could also grow young ones out to see who pairs off but you would more than likely need to relocate the other angels out once that happens.
  13. They are only $25 each for 5, that’s how I justify it in my head anyways😂. The blue eyed rainbows should be a little less expensive as well.
  14. You could look into smaller rainbow fish like Rhadinocentrus ornatus or the blue eyed rainbows as well. On the Rhads, the different collection areas tend to have different patterns / coloration. Below is a link to see what the Rhadinocentrus ornatus look like. https://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwrainbows&1657385403
  15. Here are some pictures of our 180G “Fire Eel Disco Party” tank that is run on a block sponge filter with (3) lift tubes, a couple of air stones and (2) Fluval 3.0s. We just remodeled it last weekish after we finally got rid of the devil shrimp so the plants are still adjusting. We have 4” pvc mostly covered with BDS along the entire back wall with (2) Ts in the middle and a 90 on each end for the fire eel to hide in when it gets bigger. As far as inhabitants go there is (1) fire eel aka Howard, two different types of rainbow fish, couple of algae eaters and a handful or two of Synodontis petrocola when they grow out a little more. The pictures aren’t all that good and I just stirred the tank up so there’s debris moving throughout the water column but it could give you some ideas.
  16. I am wanting to buy a new TV to put in the fish room and have no idea where to start looking. If anyone has any suggestions for a smart TV with a great picture and sound it would be greatly appreciated. I'd prefer to not have to add sound bars etc. and I'll mostly be watching YouTube, listening to music and maybe a movie or two. Thanks.
  17. My wife and I will be going again this year and will be entering the shrimp contest.
  18. Good question, I just assumed they weren’t Sulawesi. If they’re Sulawesi you definitely need a heater.
  19. We’re still struggling with the freshwater prawns but I think we may of caught the last one, FINALLY. We have completely ripped our 180G apart to get them out. We’re looking forward to getting the tank reset and planted again.
  20. Room temperature is perfect, I do not run heaters on any of my shrimp tanks.
