    I'd love to have a saltwater biome tank with inshore wreck fish from the mid-Atlantic, like black sea bass, tautog, flounder, triggerfish, sea robin, and such. I'd love to watch the fish I catch and eat as they behave in a massive aquarium, but again, it's just a dream.

    I was in a Petco today. Not shopping, just walking around and looking at the deplorable state of their aquarium section. A gentleman was at the tanks getting an associate to dish him out fish. He pointed at the gourami and said, "she'll love those things, three of them." Then pointed at one of the Glofish tank and said, "I need two of each color for those, she'll love how bright they are." He then went over to a tank with common plecos and said, "Two of those things to suck on the glass and make funny faces at her." I heard the associate say, " How big is your tank?" He said, "it's pretty big, like ten gallons." She looked at the assortment of fish all together in the plastic box and said, "Oh that will be a great stock for that tank!(#1 bad advice) How long has the tank been running?" He looked at her and said, "I'm putting it together when I get home, Is there anything that I should get to put in the water or anything? She handed him a pack of bacteria balls and said, "put these in your filter and they'll take care of everything." After the man walked away, I walked over to the woman and said, "You just sentenced all those fish to death, you know that right?" She looked at me confused and said, "I'm sure it will all be fine, as long as the tank isn't too big for just those small fish." I know one store I won't be buying from anytime soon.

    Speaking of parasites and illnesses, one topic that came up in this discussion on the other page was the ethics of flushing dead fish. From my childhood this was always the m.o., and I had never heard anything otherwise, but over there, there were some people getting angry about flushing fish. I personally can't imagine any diseases or parasites living through the water reclamation process, but I'd love to hear other's thoughts. Side note: the best answer I heard on there was building the dead fish a raft out of toothpicks, floating him in the middle of the tank and giving him a mini viking funeral pyre.

    Over on YouTube, @KGTropicals asked the poll question, how do you dispose of dead fish? The comment section was sometimes informative, sometimes absolutely hilarious. I wanted to pose the same question here. How do you dispose of fish when they go to the million gallon aquarium in the sky?

    I got to spend the last few hours researching the furry fandom for work.

    I was told at a pet shop that no longer exists that a dime-sized marbled superveil angel would be a perfect addition to my dorm room in college... in a three gallon tank. About 9-12 months later, when the bottom fin dragged on the gravel and the top fin was always out of the water, "Reggie" was donated to the science department, where they had a massive empty tank.

    I keep seeing the orange lasers and thinking how great they would be with my theme tank. At this point just can't swing the $90 plus shipping asked on Aquabid. Hopefully they'll come around to my lfs eventually.

    A smart filter would be great! Communicates with Echo or Google, built in automatic feeder, the works. I like it!

    Was able to get out kayaking two days this week! First day in my yak, ended up with a personal best for dinner. (Sorry vegetarians!) Second day when for a scenic tour, and was able to get amazingly close to a couple bald eagles perched in a tree.

    I still think when I move on from my Aquacllear it will be to a tidal, but that is definitely something to look at. Can you use outsourced foam and floss, or do you have to use proprietary media?

    I decided to give my clown pleco and cories a special treat, and last night I dropped a chunk of zucchini into my tank following a method I think found on YouTube, using a bullet sinker stuck in the center to weigh it down. Tonight, when I got home from work, the tank is filled with seeds and pieces of the zuke, and the large portion is split into sections, floating on the top. Wish I had a video feed to know what happened!
