  1. In Maryland, US, I am blessed to have a local LFS, Tom's Tropicals, that has an AMAZING selection of driftwoods. My biggest problem was when I went to shop for the wood, I spent hours trying to decide on the perfect piece, and every time I go in there I see other pieces I wish I had picked up.
  2. I have a nice piece of Spiderwood in my tank, which I have had issues with due to tannins, but I don't knock it. I've also heard mopani is nice as it doesn't float, but I don't have any of that at this point. To be honest, I don't know the differences between the kinds, I just go by how they look.
  3. Show of hands, how many people get asked often to send pictures of poo?💩🤣
  4. I don't have any suggestions, just wanted to say I'm loving the names!
  5. That's the only way I get a notification, but I am one of the few, the proud, who still cling to my basic flip phone, so I only use the board on the web, not an app. I am not sure what it can do through the app on a phone. There's also a notification bell at the top, but I think that just tells you when someone reacts to a post you've made.
  6. Gotta love that he's hugging a fish while he does it!
  7. Yeah, this doesn't default to notify, you have to click the follow topic toggle, then it will send you notification emails. If I can't answer many aquarium questions, at least I can give some tech support! 🙂
  8. Maybe inbox cleaning is scheduled as a Sunday activity.
  9. Did about a 75% water change(dang tannins!) and filter maintenance yesterday, so today I just started at my buddies for a while, while they tore apart a bloodworm cube.
  10. Are you making sure to click "Follow topic" at the bottom of the reply box? I had to learn that the hard way.
  11. Some back story first. I had three golden wag swords, a male and two females. I noticed the male seemed to always be hanging out with a single female, and the other seemed to be an outlier. She eventually began lying on the bottom for several days, except during feeding when she was in the fray and acting entirely normal. All other fish in the tank were normal, and water parameters were fine. After several days of this, she was stuck to the filter intake when I got home. After an acceptable period of mourning(for those 30 seconds I was inconsolable), I went out and got myself a new female golden wag. After several days in the tank, I'm seeing the exact same behavior beginning with this female. What am I missing? I thought having multiple females per male was a good thing, and they would enjoy the school dynamic? I am testing the parameter like they are going out of style, and nothing seems out of sorts. All the other fishies seem happy and healthy. Thanks for any insight!
  12. Can I just say, I feel like the plan with these care packages is working as far as I'm concerned. I'm pretty new to the site, and to the hobby, so I try not to say much and give bad advice or open myself and prove myself a fool, but I have begun responding much more in this forum than in others, in hope that someday I will be in the elite. Plus, I've discovered that way I get more notifications and more reminders to return!
  13. The closest thing I have to non-fish pets. This was two days after I moved into the new house. They seemed very interested in my kayak.
  14. I feel like his look says, "I'm not cheating on my diet if I'm just looking at the menu, right?" My fish are my only pets at the moment, but the squirrel in my brain loves to watch... until something shiny comes along.
  15. Being up each others' anal fins... HAHAHA😂🤣
  16. My question was going to be what color is the Betta, since that would make a difference for me on the schoolers
  17. Welcome Marie! I just have one measley tank at the moment (you can see it under "Theme Tank" in Photos. Looking forward to learning from you and your husband!
  18. I've always wanted aquariums, and have been through several in the past, but the current tank I'm probably most serious about. In this case, it honestly comes to a question of money. I just purchased a new house, so funding is at a premium, yet I set aside some extra for a tank and start-up costs. I expected to get some inexpensive fish and just see what happened with them, but then I found Angels plus and fell in love with the koi angels. Now, I've got a tank where every decision is impacted by my vision of a theme, and two of the most expensive fish I've ever raised (which I realize are still relatively inexpensive compared to many fish, but for my finances they were pushing it!) It has me paying more attention than I've ever paid, and caring more about how the fish are doing.
  19. I'd give it a few months, then use frosted mini-wheats on a small barbless hook and have some fun. But maybe that's the fisherman in me showing through! 😉
  20. My immediate concern would be for the well being of the guppies once the angels get big enough to eat them, but that always seems to be my concern.
