  1. I think it's only natural to print a wrench or candlestick next for decor...you could also call it his study! 🤣👍 Lovely betta, lovely tank, lovely betta house!!! 😍
  2. Is your guy pine-coning like the one in the post you linked?
  3. A smaller belly is good!! That's progress. I bet he hogged a bunch of your good food! I hear it's magic, but I've never actually fed a pea before...have you? I found this online article about how to do it...just in case you're like me. Please keep us updated!
  4. Could you post a picture of the plant?
  5. Wanted to check back in on you! How's the patient? I was rereading your post and noticed that your tank is 70 degrees Fahrenheit ...that seems a little cool. If he's not improving, I would consider raising the temperature of his tank! Is he usually active? Or, is he usually more chill? I think the very bottom end of their range is 72...I keep my community tank at 76. Hope he's feeling better!!
  6. Adding that to the acronym list as we speak!! 😜
  7. I love a good before and after!! 😍 I am definitely team Let that PSO growwww! The pop of chartreuse in that tank is so lovely!!!
  8. I am so sorry for your loss, Maggie!! 💔 That sounds like a terrrrrible few weeks! I've missed your posts, and I'm glad you're back! Your tanks look great!! 😍 And, I am very jealous of the baby shrimp. I just got a breeder pack of Neocardina and I can't wait for the little shrimpies!! 🤞
  9. Oh wow! He looks super full! If I were you, I wouldn't feed him for a few days and monitor. I hear sometimes feeding peas can help if they're constipated...but I'm no expert! I like to include some Spirulina flakes in my food rotation to make sure my fishos stay regular...doing something like that miiight help in the future? But, again, not an expert! I'm not going to repeat your food rotation near my tank...my fish would be very jealous! 😂
  10. I'd say biofilm is a good thing! It indicates that you've got beneficial bacteria present in your tank. Here's a thread where the phenomenon is fully discussed! (You are definitely not alone!) All of my airlines have started out with some biofilm on them...my nerites will attempt to eat it and my shrimp will definitely eat it. I hope you will give shrimp another go in the future!! They're the best.
  11. Ahhh, lovely biofilm! I have no idea why there is film on one and not the other...do you have shrimp in that tank? If so, they may have gotten to one and not the other...OR...which sponge filter setup is older? It could be that if the clean one is newer, the biofilm just hasn't had a change to take over! And, Pietro is a looker! 😍 He reminds me of Spritz. I look forward to more pictures of Pietro!! 😄👍
  12. Yeah...the rhizome of an anubias is pretty firm...like root vegetable firm... And, I second what @Just Renee is saying about the smell...it can be pretty ghastly. I would recommend wafting and not going in for a full on sniff. 😂 If you determine that it is rhizome rot...are there any parts of the rhizome that are not soft at all? It's possible that you could try cutting away the soft parts to see if the rest of the rhizome can hold on. I'm sorry your anubias are struggling...I once bought 4 anubias plants from a vendor and 3 of the 4 rotted even though I tucked them all in the driftwood and treated them nicely. I was frustrated and sad, for sure!
  13. Awww! I'm sad that I can't see your pictures!! Your tanks sound SO awesome!!! (Betta tanks are my favorite!) Just to check...I always attach the picture files to my post and then press the little plus sign. Are you using that method? Or something different?
  14. Just trying to stay relevant @James Black! 😜
  15. I feel like I need to add it to the acronym list! 🤣 Pete never looks that cranky...but my boy Spritz has a pretty cranky resting betta face! (Beauuuutiful betta, btw! 😍) (Kinda crossing my fingers that this turns into a cranky betta face thread! 🤞😂🤞)
  16. Agreed! The fuzziness on the rhizome is a little sus... I look forward to your update on if the rhizome is mushy or not!!
  17. I have two sets...you could always start out with one set and see if you feel like you need more than one. I like to think as little as possible, haha! Remembering to bring a siphon home is a little too high key for me weekly...plus, those things always have surprise water in them. The other thing to think about is if there is sickness in the home tank or the work tank, you'd be sharing those germs if they shared equipment. I've found that my home tank stresses me out infinitely more than my work tank (I think I try too hard and expect too much from my home tank, sometimes). I'd be interested to know if you feel the same way once you get everything set up!
  18. Not sure if this will help or not, but yes! You just keep replying to your original post! You can also access the posts that you've started by hovering over "Forum Activity" and then clicking "Content I Started." Can't wait to read your journal!!
  19. Awww! I'm sorry to hear that! I look forward to updates!! I hope the fishos recover quickly!
  20. Holy Canoli! Noooooo!!!! I'm glad you caught it early...that stinks!
  21. Ezekiel is beautiful!!! (Are Ezekiel and Tony from that "What's your name?!" TikTok?? If so...that's awesome!) 😂👍
  22. @Just Renee - it sounds like you are prepared!! I've been babysitting a betta that is growing back some fins (he had fin rot, was a fin nipper, experienced some ammonia poisoning, and also had pop-eye), and I've found that every other day (or every third day) 30% water changes have kept his healing process going strong! Granted, his tank is a little 3.5 gal (he was in a 1 gallon 😱, and I upgraded him slightly...he still needs to go home to his owner who doesn't have space or interest for a larger tank! 😂), and it is not planted. I'd love to see a picture of the black bits you're talking about if you can get one! Here's a picture of the healing betta (you can see the edges of his fins growing back):
  23. @Isaac M brought all the magic - y'all should check out the charts on the tabs! He did an amazing job! 🤓👍 If you're a beginner cycling your tank for the first time, or someone trying to keep track of a particular stat, the Basic Aquarium Log is MONEY! And the Planted Log is a great way to keep all of your information in one place (plus, it's got all of the same charts as the Basic!)! Even if you don't take measurements every day, both sheets are really useful. Isaac knocked it out of the park! We'll have to find that nitrogen cycling chart that @Daniel has posted before and keep the basic log link close by for resources to give to our cyclers!! 🚲🚲🚲
  24. Pooka's anubias might be like a blanket on the couch...I have three blankets that I could use, but I only use my favorite one! 😂
