  1. I think in the long term that can potentially wear the pump out quicker because the diaphragms are fighting each other to push the air, just something to consider.
  2. Thats what I was hoping for too haha. At least I know they are happy and healthy
  3. I picked up this pair from my LFS last week. I've never had Kribensis before. I have been kicking around an idea for a ten gallon build and they had this nice pair so I scooped them up. I put them in a holding tank on my fish rack until I can get their permanent tank up. I noticed the male seemingly guarding the opening to the cave. I thought "they can't have spawned already". Well I guess they won't be moving so soon now! 😃
  4. That looks like an awesome tank! Welcome!

  6. I would let it go until it gets dirty. I think it would be good to go then.
  7. I have many of the old aquarium fish breeding books, from varies series and authors. I prefer those over searching the internet for techniques. I also like searching eBay for "aquarium book" and seeing what comes up. I've found a lot of cool old fish books that way. There are also a lot of TFH magazine full sets on eBay, I'm sure those would be fun to read through.
  8. I added this pair into my spawning tank tonight. Almost immediately upon finding each other they were displaying spawning behavior. With any luck I should have some eggs tomorrow or the next day.
  9. Probably just a 50% change and rinse the sponge. I treat these tanks like any other tank, keeping up with maintenance and water changes.
  10. I run two 10 gallon tanks for quarantine with a sponge filter in each and a heater. The tanks are bare bottom with fake plants. I keep them running all the time and I keep the cycle going with a few Zebra Danios in each tank. When I get a group of fish in to quarantine I'll move the Danios to other tank or just leave them in.
  11. They do make the "Hanna Checkers", a little more cost but its not a color read out
  12. I live in Northern PA, our yearly low/high temperature can range from -27° to 100°F. I had to worry about my 110 gallon tank overheating in the summer before I had central air installed. I have a big T5 fixture on it which heats it up to around 80°F in the summer. With the AC on it holds at 80°F. It doesn't really cool off at night because of the water volume (with sump) and the 1/2 inch thick glass. In the winter I think it actually helps keep the living room warmer. During winter I've thought if I lose power and I think it'll be out a while, I'll duct tape blankets around the tank to keep heat in. New this year I have a 75 gallon tank that sits on cold outside wall. I'm considering getting a piece of insulation board to sit against the wall behind the tank, to block the cold wall.
  13. Yeah its not bad once we dig out of 6 feet of snow 😆
  14. I had an idea, I think it would be cool if Aquarium Co-op sold stickers featuring the logos of their "Brand Ambassadors"
  15. I ended up finding a lot more fry in the tank after removing the mops. I moved them to my Dean inspired fry raising trays. They are starting to show some color now. I started feeding BBS this weekend as shown by orange bellies.
  16. Ted Judy is making one in a video series in his channel right now. It looks really cool!
  17. I have screen tops on my tank for jumpers. The screen is 1/8 wide and I was planning on setting the feeder right on the screen or center brace. I figure Xtreme Nano will fall through the screen no problem. If you have glass lids you can set it on the glass and cut a hole in plastic piece on back edge
  18. I didn't have corals so it wasn't much more work than freshwater, just mixing the salt for water changes.
  19. I was on the website chat most days, I think I still have the page bookmarked haha
  20. It was one of the old Marineland Eclipse tanks with the filter built in under the lid, couldn't have been more than 5-8 gallons.
  21. I had a saltwater nano tank growing up with a single Clownfish named Mr. Jones. I remember defrosting frozen brine shrimp every morning for him, lived many years.
  22. Wow very cool to witness, thanks for sharing!
