You can get your hands on newlife spectrum food easier and cheaper then xtreme flakes. Conclusion I like newlife spectrum food better then xtreme. I find that there ingreidents are better quality then extreme and its cheaper then xtreme. and because I am a teenager in this hobby I look for the cheapest yet, best quality food. Which in my opinion is newlife spectrum. I beleive that xtreme has better marketing and advertisement and therefore is more popular. Newlife spectrum is an underated food. What do you like better?

I would move the fish with pop eye to like a hospital tank. Just because your other fish in that tank may not like those meds because they are not sick.

Looks like popeye. This can be caused by poor water qualities. The poor water qualities is probably not so much your fault because it most likely came from not using a water conditioner or using a water conditioner that is obviously not working. Stuff like chlorine or chlorimine may cause something like this. try Fritz PH Netrulizer, this will remove chlorine, chlorimine, amonia, and increase/ decrease the ph to 7.0 (if thats the number your going for)

Do you think my betta fish would eat my shrimp in a 5 gallon? My betta fish is a male koi plakat. and I want cherry shrimp.

Introducing some tanins will help decrease the PH (driftwood, almond leaves).

With my experiance when I see a fish on their back trouble breathing, they die with in a few hours. I don't know if there is much that can be done. What probably happend was that he/ she injured their swim bladder. This can be caused by trying to jump out of the aquarium. I wouldn't try to add airation because gouramis have a labrynth organ, meaning that they dont get oxygen from the water but that they go up to the surface for oxygen.

You could do a large school of like (30, maybe more) cardinal tetras or neon tetras to add some more color. With maybe some congo tetras (8) and some cory catfish (12). With your shrimp.

Could you get a clearer shot of the betta? Keep an eye on her and see if any more symptoms develop, if so let me know. As far as speeding up the nitrogen cycle on your 10gallon there are a few things you can do that will cycle the aquarium "imiedetley" or with in a few days. You can sprinkle some food in the 10 gallon to cause amonia which can cycle the aquarium in a few days. You can use botteld amonia that will also help speed up the nitrogen cycle. Fritz Turbo Start (heres a link to the product) Amazon.com WWW.AMAZON.COM Fritz Turbo Start claims that it cycles your aquarium imediatley and is safe to add fish. I do not persanolly beleive that it cycles your aquarium imediatley but that it allows you to do a fish in nitrogen cycle much easier. You can also do a waterchange and dump some of the dirty fish water in the 10gallon aquarium. I persanolly like the sprinkling the food in the aquarium, method just because its simple and cost effective. I am currently cycling my 36 Gallon and am using this method and its working very well. I would agree with you not to use the filter media from your 2.5 gallon just because it could be a parasite desaese (which I suspect it is) and some of those parasites could be on the media. When it comes to treating your fish remove the media as it will remove the meds from the water. Hope this helps 🙂 Can you try to send a better picture of your betta fish?
