  1. It looks fabulous, @RovingGinger! I hope they are happy there! I would guess nitrates would be an indicator if the tank was overstocked, which I don't think it would be with only 3 fish. So, altered behavior would be a better indicator, I think. But I'm no expert. I'll be interested to see how they do!
  2. We are still losing fish every day, but only 4-5 a day, unlike the last month of 10-12 a day. So...that's an improvement! We are finished with all treatments and are trying to help our parameters get back to normal. We did a 25% water change today, as the ammonia was rising. My nitrates are very low, around 10 ppm. No nitrites present for several days. We are dosing with Easy Green every other day to see it that will help. I've got BBA & hair algae growing now. So I know something is "off". We haven't had any deaths with the assassin snails, pygmy chain loaches or shrimp, so that's good! I'll sure be glad for this tank to get back to normal. 😏

    Tv shows

We're watching Sea Patrol on Amazon Prime. It's an Australian show...so you get cool accents AND lots of WATER!!!
  4. Fascinating build-a-bowl session, @yannachka! It turned out really great. And @Mike, your bowls are fabulous too. I can see that building tiny worlds could be addictive. You've both got me considering a glass terrarium out on my front porch...it's empty at the moment! 😃
  5. Hey, @RovingGinger, I'm not really sure on that. I'm hoping somebody else will chime in who knows a little more about gobies. I can tell you that the tank itself is just over 11 inches each side. I was looking up lights last night on Amazon, so I double checked the measurements. Maybe that will help?
  6. Hi @stumpfinder, your tank looks awesome! I have a couple solutions for your snails. I'd suggest you try more than one thing at a time, a 2-pronged approach seems to work better. I'd try Assassin snails and Pygmy Chain Loaches. Between the 2 of them, my 55-gallon is free of ram's horns snails and only has a very few pond snails. Neither of them seem to bother my Nerite snails. Hope this helps, Alesha (akconklin)
  7. @RovingGinger and @Lynze, it looks like @Bill Smith has a pea puffer in his, and @Brandy and @ForestJenn have bettas in theirs. 🙂 I just have snails in mine, so far. And some microscopic floating, jumping thingies! I plan to use it as a QT when we decide to stock our 20-gallon. Can't wait to see what you all do with them!
  8. I had that exact same issue with mine. I was using Easy Green & root tabs & for a little while it was growing beautifully. Then it started melting right where it went into the substrate. I never did figure it out & eventually lost the plant. That tank has since been broken down, & it has remained a mystery. I'll be following along to see if someone has the answer. 👍
  9. Oh, great idea, Brandy! I didn't consider that. But you're right...chances are someone will see that video and consider the tank. Hopefully, they'll see our suggestions and can make their own educated decisions. I know I've seen this same tank in my area on FB marketplace AND Craigslist, so I know it's still out there. I keep congratulating myself on the price I managed to get on it, though, so absolutely no buyer's remorse here! 😉 I'll be interested in seeing how it does without a filter too. Please do let us know! 🙂
  10. Ange, it looks like it's going to be a beautiful tank! And a great project for therapy! I hope you'll feel your soul settle into the beauty of the project & feel accomplished & proud when it's ready to be used.
  11. I'm going to use it for a QT. I do have some tiny snails in there that came from the plants & sponge. And this little white speck was running around on the glass today. I don't have a macro lens, so the pic is not great quality. Have no idea what that is! I didn't take off the vinyl, as we do prefer the back glass to be black, but it looks like it would peel right off. And if you keep that blade handy, it should get off anything that's being stubborn. 😉
  12. Lynze, all it took was a nice sharp razor blade & it popped right out! Go for it! 😊
  13. Yeah, I removed the old pump when I took out the partition. I just have a sponge filter in there now. Thanks for the info, though. Hopefully it will help our someone else down the road.
  14. No. I never saw any worms. We think it was wasting disease. We only tried Levamisole after trying ParaCleanse, PraziPro, salt & maracyn.
  15. We've done our 2nd round of meds in our 2nd treatment with Levamisole. I'm still seeing SO much stringy poo! I'm hoping this last treatment is getting to all the parasites. I can't believe they survived the other treatment!
  16. I think the assassins work mainly under the gravel, killing the eggs, so it's hard to see what they're doing. But I believe they do stop the population explosions. I also have pygmy chain loaches. They have helped to kill off the already hatched snails. I have no ramhorns left in the tank. So maybe a 2-pronged approach is best.
  17. You could also try Assassin snails. I got a small group of 5 about a year ago, & now have well over 25. They eradicated the ramshorns in my tank. And almost all of my pond snails are gone too!
  18. Welcome to the forum, Ben. I've noticed you're already answering some questions here on the forum. That's awesome! Everyone here is SO helpful & I've learned so much.
  19. Welcome, Joanne! That's so exciting about doing some fish paintings soon. I'm a beginner watercolor painter... brand new, really. Fish look reeeeally hard to me! I hope you'll share them with us when you do paint them. 🙂
  20. Welcome to the forum! Glad to see another Central Floridian! And yep, the MTS is pretty contagious! 😁
  21. Well, she is a beauty! Thanks for sharing her with us. I'm so interested in puffers, but worry that I'd not be able to keep them fed and happy. I already stress about making sure my red-tail botia and pygmy chain loaches ( and alllll the snails) get enough to eat. When they live with guppies, it's hard to make sure! LoL!
  22. Welcome, Jack! If you keep up with the posts here, you'll be learning daily & being inspired too. Glad to have you here.
  23. @BethanyNevitt, we like it just fine. It's hard like gravel, but not quite as rounded. We combined it with crushed coral & ADA soil, if I'm remembering correctly. I think that was a little bit overkill, though. I wouldn't do both of them together again. It looks nice after it's gravel vacuumed. I have noticed that my pygmy chain loaches don't dig around in it for food, so I feed pretty heavy to make sure they eat.
