  1. Hi all! @Hobbit, I've got a male honey gourami in nesting mode. So we picked up a small clump of red root floaters just for him. I don't have anything else floating in my tank. He has pretty much destored the floaters - I think! I hate to "accuse" him when I don't know for sure. 😬😉 He has moved, poked, prodded, chased and darted through the little clump until they are shredded. The red roots have turned dark, the leaves are separating & dropping to the bottom of the tank where the shrimp & snails have created on them. What floaters do you recommend for him & does this behavior sound normal? Alesha
  2. SAEs do get massive. Especially next to my guppies & sparkling gouramis. They look like Godzilla, even in my 55 gallon, I think. 😉 I believe it's the Chinese Algae Eaters that will suck on other fish. My LFS accidently gave me 1 Chinese with 2 Siamese. It was even "cleaning" my ramshorn snails to the point of removing the brown color! My LFS was kind enough to take back the ChineseAE. I did 3 things to help remove hair algae: 1. I limited my light hours for a few weeks. 2. When I did a water change, I used Easy Carbon to douse the worst patches of it, then let it sit for a few minutes before refilling. 3. I moved my sponge filters as far away from the worst of the hair algae as I could. It always seemed to grow the worst where the bubbles moved passed the leaves of my sword plants. I hope this helps a little, Alesha
  3. Our garden is doing well. First time gardeners here. I'm just so surprised by how much work is involved, even after everything is planted. Here's some pics from yesterday:
  4. Please, PUHLEEEZE, somebody make a meme from that "Is that a piece of duckweed???" moment from today's new video!!! It was an epic moment. 😎
  5. Ugh... how stressful for ALL of you! I'm so sorry it didn't work out. You're a good fish mom to call it before it got worse. Hoping things settle down as you get the tanks back in order.
  6. Thanks for the update! Glad to know it's settling down. Hopefully they will learn to be good tankmates really soon. 💦💙
  7. I received my latest order from Aquarium Co-op. My shrimp have been loving their Xtreme Shrimpee Sticks. My duck weed happily joined in to welcome the new test strips. And this bad boy was put on the fish journal! Yep...pretty good day!!! 😄 Alesha
  8. I'm excited about all these ideas!!! Since my garden is finally in, maybe you'll be seeing more of me here on the forum leading up to Nerm Day. It sounds like so much fun!!!
  9. Oh wow! This is looking great! Especially the plants! That dwarf sag is amazing, isn't it?!
  10. I wondered about the name too, @StephenP2003! Because yeah, it's growing MUCH taller than other plants. I don't think I've had it long enough to have any die-back yet. Hopefully it'll still look great. It's sending out runners everywhere, too! Definitely a happy plant right now.
  11. Very cool idea! I think I'll just let it be for now. 😄
  12. The substrate is crushed coral & white aquarium gravel. No nutrients...I forget even to add Easy Green.😳
  13. ... now it looks like a teen who gave in to peer pressure & let her friend trim her bangs at a slumber party!
  14. Very cool! Thanks for sharing the info!
  15. Ok, yep, I can remember him saying something about root beer! That's so interesting. Thanks for the info! One of our local friends just collected their honey last week. Their bees gave them orange blosson this year. They were excited. I guess they got something else last year. Interesting how it changes.
  16. My dad always talked about his grandmother making sassafras tea from the plant. She was part Cherokee. I always wondered what it tasted like. Do your bees give sassafras honey? Do you like the flavor?
  17. Oh my word! That's even funnier! I'm reading a book just now with a horse who was a twin foal and wasn't getting enough food, so had to be hand-fed. They named him "Second Best." 😂😂😂 At least our dogs can't understand the insult. My pup's name is LexaBelle (After Alexander Graham Bell. Our first dog was Newton and our second is Kepler. We've got a name-thing going because our son is "Isaac". We're weird, I know.) Half the time, I call her "Lexa-Ding-Dong" cause she's SUCH a spaz!!! But if I say it sweetly, she responds just the same. 😉
  18. Had I employed your razor-wit dog-naming method in my household, I'd have a "WobegoneEyes" and a "Nippin'AtMyHeels". 😁😁😁 The baby snails are adorbs!!!
  19. Best of luck on that project! NERM ahoy, indeed!!! 🐟🐠🐌
