  1. I like how the Lampeye occupies the top part of the tank. This to me always seems to be the hardest part with balancing out species that occupy different levels of the tank. Appreciate the input.
  2. I acclimated my shrimp by the same way I do fish. Temperature acclimate, then slowly add a little water at a time. About a 1/4 cup each time, waiting 15 minutes minutes between adds. Do this process till I double the water amount they came in.
  3. Thanks for sharing the video link. I thought I may have missed this one but I did watch this video. Had to watch it again because I did not remember watching it...That is when you know you watch way to many fish videos....LOL 😂
  4. @RovingGinger You defiantly make a solid point. Something I did not think to mention.
  5. I am looking at putting a pair of killifish in a 10 gallon tank. I am never had killifish but would love to try with a good hardy pair for a beginner. Please tell me your recommendation as to what killifish I should start with and why. I appreciate you taking your time to reply.
  6. In my experience it doesn't bother them. My mollies were breeding like crazy with no problems. Just not breeding now because my male passed away.
  7. The flow rate should be fine for guppies and tetras. I have mollies and tetras with running an Aquaclear 70 on a 38gal bow front. I have the flow turned down but still flows pretty fast. I have thought about putting a piece of sponge on the outflow lip to deflect the water a little but have not done it.
  8. I never quarantine any invertebrates.
  9. Just curious what the reasoning was when you put gravel on top of the pots? Was it just to hold them down?
  10. First off sorry for your loss. It is always sad when fish pass away that you had for a long time. It could have been a disease or just that they were older. The 2 remaining, I would put them back in the community if they are not showing any signs of disease and you treated them. They probably will feel more comfortable with other fish as well. But in the end you have to make a decision on what you think is best for the fish and your other community. Hope everything works out for you.
  11. Recommend checking out Irene's Video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyevfeqkRAM
  12. I would love to get a 20H. I may just do it but have to convince my better half because I just bought a 10 gallon for a quarantine only tank. I don't know how many times I can use "This hobby is better than most hobbies" "I could be doing worst things with my time." 😂😂
  13. Yes that is going to be difficult too get a lid for that style tank. As you said, you may have to make a frame so you can use a hinged top. Sorry not much of a help.
  14. My suggestion is put as close to the center as you can to get the best spread of light. Also attached is a picture of my 38gal bow front. The top on it came with it but I have seen them for sale separately as well. You can just do internet search to find them.
  15. I have had this plant for almost a month now. One pant leave melted and a new one came back. Now I have one turning brown and the bananas at the bottom seem dark compared to what I have seen in other peoples pictures. Is this normal?
  16. I appreciate everyone's thoughts. I just don't think it is worth keeping up with removing them. Plus it is part of a healthy ecosystem in my opinion. @Dandy Pearl good 💡. I will keep this in mind.
  17. Definitely have at least 5 that I can count. Really small.
  18. This must have been a hitchhiker at some point. First time seeing a different snail besides my nerites in the tank. Please help me identify it. Thanks
  19. Day 7 of quarantine. Today I changed out 30% of the water. Plus did a feeding. The fish were so happy to eat. I finally tested the water a few hours after water change and all is well. Fish are coloring up and look great. I will retreat paracleanse in 2 weeks to catch any adult tape worm eggs. Let them marinate in it for a week in it. Change water and monitor again for one week before putting in my display tank. At this point I don't think I missed anything. If you notice something I may have missed or should consider please let me know.
  20. Day 6 of quarantine and the fish are doing great. Tomorrow I will be doing a 30% water change. I will have to review Cory's video again to refresh my memory on when to remedicate to catch any eggs from parasites. Other than that I will continue to monitor fish behavior and tank parameters. How long should I quarantine in total?
  21. Brian, thank you for continuing to help with fish that are almost extinct in the wild. It is awesome that folks like you keep these rare fish and work on breeding them to keep the species alive. Look forward to seeing the babies grow up. Please post as they grow.
  22. I am far from being a expert but I would agree that it is a imbellis.
  23. Update: Day 4 of quarantine and all is going well. Feed them just a little bit of first bits as I would feel bad not having them eat for 7 days. The are still very skittish but I am sure one they get in a tank were they can hid out a bit they will settle down. I try not to bug them to much. Only to check on tank parameters once a day.
  24. When I first saw this picture @Daniel, I thought you were going to say you use your cat to get stuff out of the tank. 🤣🤣🤣
