  1. They are a check valve. It will prevent water back flowing through an airline if the pump shuts off.
  2. No specific species at the moment. Just a question I always wanted to ask but just never got around to it. Wanted to know others opinions.
  3. Would like to get everyones thoughts on if you allow natural breeding & raising of the babies. Pulling eggs or babies after they hatch? Just leave them and let nature do it's thing?
  4. Finally, I was able to capture a few photos of emerald dwarf rasboras.
  5. Well new fish came in. Sad and happy at the sametime. The espei Harlequin Rasbora's did make it in shipping but I know Aquahuna will make it right (no worries there). Just sad that they did not make the trip. Happy that my emerald dwarf rasboras came in alive and active and so did my two nerites. The snails already started cleaning the brown algae. Excited to see the rasboras color up! Oh, Adrian (still not sure what species he or she is yet) seems happy to have some tank mates as well. Will post some photos once they get comfortable in their new home.
  6. @Mikeo @Mattyzz what 3D printers are you using?
  7. My powder blue gourami is always picking at plants in the tank. However, never seen any marks that would indicate they are doing damage to the plant. I also have rotala and never encountered they digging it up. What other fish or shrimp you have in the tank?
  8. The pygmy sunfish would be my favorite. Thank you @Daniel for inducing me to them. Someday I might keep them.
  9. This forum has taught me a lot. From fishless cycling to organic soil tanks. @StreetwiseI think it would be awesome for you to start a thread on organic soil tanks. Mine has been one of the easiest tanks to maintain.
  10. @Streetwise @ChefConfit received mine in as well. Also, got my first order of brineshrimp and started a batch already. Stepping up my game with these amazing Aquarium Co-op products.
  11. @ChefConfit never thought about the selling off portion of it. When talking with my LFS and I asked about ricefish they said they don't get them in often because they are hard to get for them and whiteclouds I only see at the bigbox LFS which don't except any trades or selling. Thank you for the comment...got me thinking now. 🤔
  12. Super stoked about my new fish on the way. I had some misfortune with chili rasboras and only have 3 to 4 left. So to ease my setback pain I ordered some different fish from a source that I trust (Aquahuna). Espei Harlequin Rasbora and Emerald Dwarf Rasbora and two nerite snails.
  13. Looking at getting some input on what everyone thinks about what fish would be best in a 20gal outdoor tub that I plan to overwinter as well. I never done a tub before and going to try. Having a tough time deciding on what fish I want to put in there. Summers are hot and humid with day temperatures often above 90°F (32.2°C) on average. Nights are mild to warm in the 66°F (18.9°C) to 75°F (23.9°C) range and are warmer along the coast than the interior. Winters are mild to cold, with daily highs in the 58°F (14.4°C) to 62°F (16.7°C) range, while nights are between 38°F (3.3°C) to 42°F (5.6°C) along the coast. Appreciate your inputs!
  14. Looks like ICH and it sometimes can be very stubborn. But you want to treat until the last signs are gone and then at least one day after the signs are gone. I did two days just to be safe when I had it. As @Colusaid...treat the whole tank as it is not just on the fish. The cysts are in the substrate as well.
  15. Looking amazing!! Really love the natural environment.
  16. Got the greenlight from my wife to start a outdoor tub pond. Going to use the half cut whiskey barrel with a liner. Add some plants and a small pump fountain. Don't think i will filter it but may change my mind as I go along. Still deciding on fish to add but really been thinking medaka ricefish.
  17. Did a water change on main display tank today. Been 2 weeks since I accomplished it last. Looking good.
  18. Would you be able to post a picture. That would help in identification.
  19. I have had no problems with floating plants with lids. They propagate very fast and I am constantly having to remove once a week.
  20. Yesterday I put in the last treatment. No signs of ich. 🙏 However I lost 7 Chili rasboras through the treatment. 😢 I did learn through the process which is a good thing. I find myself learning the most through personal experience.
  21. Did a water change yesterday & today. Day 3 with no white spots. Tomorrow I will do one more w/c and dose. So far all is going well.
  22. Sounds like you have a good plan. I just wanted to rule out water parameters. I have had cloudy water running meds before. Normally clears up after a day or two. As far as the stuff on the bottom of the tank it looks like mulm but hard to tell in the picture.
  23. Do you have a test kit? What are your water parameters? How long have you been cycling the tank? The more information you can give the better. At first look it looks like a bacteria bloom.
  24. If you could post some photos it may help identify what is going on.
