  1. Started med trio today. Everyone looks healthy but want to make sure my corydoras are healthy.
  2. Agree with @Mmiller2001 that medication would probably be the best solution just to rule out any disease. As far as hardness is concerned, I have read many articles showing corydoras even pygmy corydoras can thrive in hard water. Their nature environment can have many swings in the parameters. Most fish can acclimate to it. I have them in 300ppm hardness with no problems. I would recommend slow drip acclimation when you get them. This will help them acclimate much easier to your hard water if it is different from the LFS. I slow drip acclimate all my fish and have had a lot of success doing it.
  3. I personally would go with Rams. Nice setup on the tank looks really cool. Like the rocks you have. What are they? I think a black background would really make the tank pop.
  4. Why did the pufferfish call itself fat? Because it was fishing for compliments.
  5. Well I started with the intention of only having one and now I have three. (MTS) Each Aquarium I have has a story and chapters not written yet. 38g Bowfront-My first tank setup for my daughter and I to have something to do together during COVID, learned a lot with many trials and errors. Tank is doing fantastic. (First learning tank and now my main display) 10g-Setup a Walstad (dirted tank). Just finally got done cycling. Some fish are more resilient than we may think they are. Many chapters to go. (experiment tank) 20gal Tall- Eco-complete planted Aquascape. Just finished cycling. Learned there can be hitchhiker fish than come in on cycled filter media. (Aquascape tank) What story does your aqaurium('s) tell? Share your stories here.
  6. I am running two nano's on one USB pump. Recommend putting control valves so you can even the air flow out to each filter. If you don't one will have more flow then the other one. So far I have not had any issues with water not being clear. Here is a picture of my Nanos in my 20gal. Disregard the red circle, I used this picture to point out something in a different post
  7. Welcome to a amazing forum! My 6 month old son loves sitting in front of the tanks with me watching all the activity. When the pleco swims up on the glass he gets really excited. Hopefully James gets excited as well.
  8. Add 5 Cory pygmy cory to help with cleanup in the tank as I am feeding the little baby hitchhiker more. Picture of dip acclimation for my newbies.
  9. Had to move this Cryptocoryne Wendtii Green as it was way to close to the rock. Moved it forward. When I pulled it up from the substrate it had a massive root system already and only had been in the tank since 22 January. Also, the dwarf chain sword had sent out about 4 runners now with little plants popping up all over the place. The Montecarlo is slowly coming along. Not getting a lot of spread yet but the roots are growing very well. Got to love the quality of plants from the CO-OP. 😀😀
  10. I only had one little guy in the tank and I did a small pinch twice a day. My pinch sizes were about as big as the top of a pen. Did not want to dirty the water to much because I was still cycling the tank. So glad they are doing good!!
  11. My little hitchhiker fry is doing well. Growing but still cannot tell what it is yet. Tank Nitrite was all the way up to 5.0 PPM for 5 days and now it just dropped to .25 PPM today. I think it is just about done cycling. Interesting thing is that the one fry and the 3 cherry shrimp I had in the tank did very well through the cycle. All my plants have had some growth. The chain sword is starting to really spread. I will load some pictures later.
  12. I had the same thing happen. I cultured infusoria but it takes a few days to get it going. Before my infusoria was ready I was feeding them hard boiled egg and Sera fry food.
  13. I agree with Betsy. Love the static cling blackout. I used it on 2 setups now. Nice thing is if you ever change your mind you just pull it off plus no harsh paint smells.
  14. Here is a picture of my 20 gal high I just did a week ago. Maybe it will give you some ideas.
  15. Ph can be different from tank to tank. Many factors can cause this to happen. Different substrates, plants, no plants, water changes, and etc. I try testing at least 2 hours of lights being on every time. (I am about consistency) I have seen my ph fluctuate while using the med trio. However, I cannot contribute that specifically to the med trio.
  16. I have ordered several times from Aquahuna. My Shrimp and CPDs are doing great!! I highly recommend them.
  17. I have CPD's and had them shipped to me. They were small and stressed out. I did similar acclimation that you did. The issue I found out right away and with other fish I have shipped in and even from the LFS is that sometimes they are under feed for shipping to reduce their stress and ammonia level spikes during shipping. I let fed my on 2nd day with high quality food (brine shrimp). Then waited a day feed again 4th day. Then I started the med trio treatment to make sure they were cleaned out of any disease. You never know when the LFS got them in and they could have been stressed out from shipping to the store then you got picked them up and that added more stress. This movement is somewhat normal in the hobby and sometimes some fish just don't handle it well. They can also could have something eternally going on as well. Tank parameters seem fine to me. Also, nice looking tank. Sorry for your loss. Sometimes LFS will give a couple day guarantee on the fish. I know mine does it as long as the water parameters are within range. I hope this helps a little. I am sure someone else will also chime in on what their experiences have been.
  18. The petrified wood looks good. I have that in one of my tanks and love the look. Never had Guppies but have had live bearers with just 1 female and 1 male. They mated like crazy then those babies had babies. You will find great joy in raising your own babies.
  19. @Hobbit I would agree it takes some time to get the best yields. I started a culture about 3 days ago and I have a little concentration. But have had to use it at the low concentration right now just to get some to a hitch hiker fry. I would recommend putting a light directly on it 24hrs. It seems to help speed the process up. I started one culture and another 2 days later then put a light on them and the 2nd culture is caught up already to the first. I am just using a daylight led bulb with a desk lamp. Would have used a window but it has been cloudy here for a few days.
  20. @Streetwisewould you be able to give me the measurement of the area that hangs on the rim. Would like to know if these would fit on my rimmed tanks. Thanks
  21. The plants will have a hard time up taking nitrates if you don't have proper lighting and other building blocks for them to uptake the nitrates plus grow. I find if any of these building blocks are out of balance my plants struggle and my nitrates go up. I am sure others will chime in as well to help you out. Recommend reading this article if you have not done so already. https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/which-aquatic-fertilizer-is-right-for-you What light are you currently running? This may help out it determining if it proper lighting.
