  1. Had a death in the fish family yesterday. Bought a rubber lip pleco on Wednesday and put him in my 20gal. He did fine until I did my water change yesterday. Tested water this morning and noticed that their was ammonia and a nitrite spike. Then I noticed my Amanos picking at a tail in the back of the tank. Well he must of passed last night. I am thinking he just did not like the water change. Well that stinks!!! I may just put in a baby bristle nose as I seem to have good luck with them. Hopefully my rubbernose in the 10 gallon does good. Swim in peace buddy!!
  2. My favorite would have be dwarf chain sword for a carpeting plant because it propagates very easily and very easy to care for. Bucephalandra for all the same reasons as @Steph’s Fish and Plants stated.
  3. It's definitely spring time in South Carolina. Turtles are on the banks soaking up the sun and the frogs are laying their eggs. Took these pics in the pond that is behind my house.
  4. @Dancing Mattmine does the same thing and I have a Samsung s10. This is a new feature so I am sure there will be bugs.
  5. I always cycle my tanks with plants. Works for me and my water parameters. I am sure you will get people on both sides of the fence but I would say a majority would say plant now. Have fun!!!
  6. Welcome to the forum. Would like to see some pics of the tanks.
  7. Agree with Daniel. I have high nitrates and hard water straight from the city. My plants eat up the nutrients fairly fast so I still use EG to supplement. You should be all set.
  8. Welcome to the forum. You will learn a lot if you dive in. Definitely try planted tank!! They are fun and rewarding.
  9. Welcome. This forum is amazing and you will learn a lot if you dive in.
  10. @OceanTruth yes the water lettuce is doing very well in all my tanks. I have to thin out my main display tank weekly. I have been just keeping what I pull out in 5 gallon buckets. Going to ask my LFS if they want it to sell..maybe I can get some store credit.
  11. Well I needed to get my hands wet again. Rescaped my 10gal and did a water change. I also did a water change on my 20gal. Little (Adrian) is growing up. Got a few shots of the hovering pygmy corydoras.
  12. I don't have a answer for you on improving the growth as by java fern has struggled from day 1 (I even dose extra potassium as I know they really like it). I did however have a question, Do you use Easy Green along with seachem flourish advance? I have saw some older videos on Aquarium Co-op Youtube with them using them in combination but wanted to see other peoples results as well.
  13. You can try some dwarf chain sword. It sends out runners and is working on carpeting one of my tanks.
  14. My 10gal dirted tank (experiment) is coming along. Set it up and planted on 24 January 2021 with a cycled sponge filter. Added a HOB as well so I could add some crushed coral and media for benifical bacteria. I am still having some higher nitrites levels. They did go away for about 3 days but came back. Been doing 25% water changes every 3 days. No nitrites in tap water. No ammonia and showing nitrates. Hopefully it will level out soon. 2nd day of setup 8 February 21 February
  15. I have not used them but had a funny thought. The fish would be happy all the time with the wiskey that might leach out into the tank. 🤣 More seriously, I would like to know as well if this has been done with success.
  16. I would nurse it back to health and enjoy watching it get better. It will really give you a appreciation for the species then as others said give it away to a LFS or some else that can take care of it long term.
  17. @Joshua Harding so glad it worked out for you. Tank looks amazing.
  18. Looking really good. Excited to see the end result! Thank you for posting!
  19. Mine would definitely be my CPD's if I could only pick one.
  20. Today I did a 40% water change on the main display tank that I have been neglecting. Cleaned filters and did some plant trimming. Also, added some more Aquarium CO-OP root tabs. A few photos I took on the main display tank.
  21. Changed the title because I would like to document all my aquarium activities in one area instead of several. Yesterday, I did a 30% water change on the 20 gallon planted tank after running meds for a week. Fish and plants are doing great. The little baby hitchhiker fish is growing..still do not know what species of fish it is yet.
  22. I had the same issue. First I had to clear the cache in the browser and that worked one time. It happened again several months later and I had to clear the cache and then reset my password even though I knew it was right. Once I reset the PW it worked just fine. If you still have issues then I would contact Candi @ shipping@aquariumcoop.com.
  23. Definitely going to try my hand in doing a small tub this year. Probably just do some Guppies and cherry shrimp. More excited about all the plants I can grow in the tub. I will need to make it esthetically pleasing so the wife will be ok with it but other than that I should be good to go.
  24. A friend of mine has this same tank and did set it up with a fluval 3.0 Nano. He did remove the old light like you were said. He said it has been working good for him.
