  1. Nice @Mitch Norton, that's a fat looking lady you got there!
  2. Wow @Jessica. those are great looking fish and the color is stunning! Great buy! Thank you for sharing the video, I enjoyed it a lot! Ruud
  3. Love those teacup Platties, they are really well colored!! Angels and Gourami's are not the typical fish you see in thesame tank, but maybe I am just a purist. If you keep weekly water changes I don't see nothing wrong with bio load and such. Good luck and welcome!!
  4. I stumbled on these old photos somewhere buried in my photo bucket account. Mind you these are from 2007, its my 180 liter (that's around 48 gallon) South America tank with Back to Nature 3d background L260 Queen Arabesque - really need these back in my life in a colony tank A colony tank for Orange lasers I had back then (I know Cory likes them)
  5. Great looking sailfin Mollies you got there @MickS77. Extra cool point for being wild caught! Definitely a fish you don't see a lot here (in the very few specialized shops we have around).
  6. Help an addicted brother, without currently any fish tanks in his life, out!! I really like livebearers especially Swords and Molly's. Show me what you got and how your tank setup looks like, so I can get inspiration for when I finally move to a house with space for a small fish room! I would really love a colony breeding swordtail tank!
  7. Doesnt seem to be excessive indeed @DaveSamsell, even more for a 10 gallon. Looks like a case of just bad luck or bad quality.
  8. 12 months seems to be a very low lifespan to me for an aquarium heater. I am not familiar with the Aqueon name and whether it is known as a quality brand in US. Here in Europe I always used Eheim heaters and never had a failure with one of them as far as I can remember. In what size tank and what temp did you run the 50w? I guess if it had to work at 100% to keep up, it might have reached end of life sooner than a 100w that maybe uses 70% of it capacity to reach and maintain the temperature?
  9. Great looking planted tank you got there. Since everything is bigger in Texas, I wonder if it applies to tanks as well?
  10. Gutted you guys don't ship outside of US. Even though its expensive, I get it, but would love to get some Co op gear!
  11. Adding to what Andy says, to me it seems as well potential lack of feed. Besides baby brine, if you have algae in one or more of your tanks, drop it in as its perfect for wigglers to feed on in my experience. Whilst not looking the best, having algae in breeding tanks usually ups the success rate in my experience. Hope you will figure it out, would love to see the results here in photos!
  12. I really don't have space for any tank at the moment, but when my housing situation improves I have been thinking about getting one of those bookshelve type long tanks that Aqua tanks make. I can't get Aqua tanks here in Spain, BUT there is a guy close by that makes tanks on order at a fair price. So I am thinking about something like that, maybe a 16 gallon long and low one and stock it with Cory's. Or Tetra's.
  13. Living in Spain for a few years now and love the nature around me. I started birding this year and love to get out with my binoculars and just see what's around here. Being close to Barcelona, it is just a few hours ride to get into the Pyrenees mountains where you can fish for brown trout, brook trout and rainbow. There is an abundance of wildlife and birds as well. On the rooftop of our apartment, we have about 40 plants in pots including Peachtrees, pear, lemons, pomme granate, and we raised tomatoes this year. ruud
  14. Hi Jessica, your tank and Discuss truly look amazing. They look healthy and happy, which is the best you can hope for as a fish caretaker! Can I ask what size is your tank? Thank you, all the best from Spain Ruud
  15. Man, these look sooo cool! Where can I get a few, or aren't they shipped outside of US (Im in Spain).
  16. Hi all, My name is Ruud and I am from Netherlands but living in Spain since a few years! I currently do not have any tanks, as the past years as an expat I have been moving around quite a bit and in my current apartment there is simply no real space for one (complicated story). BUT hopefully in the next few months we will move to a real house where I want to have a small fish room. Anyway, I found some photos from tanks and fish from around 10 years back when I was still in NL: Juwel 180 liter south american tank
  17. Great looking Panda's you got there! And I love the state of Vermont 🙂 Greetings from Spain Ruud
  18. Thank you, that is very nice! Maybe to add, in the past I always had South American cichlids. Cory's, L number, Apisto's, key hole cichlids etc. And I really would like to get some Brochis this time and perhaps an Angel or 2. But since the water is so hard here I am also looking forward to get back to swords. Ruud
  19. I picked up a 400l aquarium for free! It must be at least 40 years old as its very heavy thick glass and a gold metal frame. Very very heavy. I know its leaking and will have to reseal it and I don't have space right now, but I am putting it in storage for my next place.
  20. Hello all, My name is Ruud and I am a fish nerd from Spain. I am originally Dutch, but moved here around 4 years ago and left behind my tanks and fish in Netherlands. After a hiatus of a few years, and moving places quite a lot, I am now actually looking to find a house where I can setup a small fishroom of maybe a dozen tanks or so. Over the past years, Cory's channel has been my way of enjoying the hobby and I especially enjoyed the daily Vlog series (sadly they seemed to have gone from Youtube), The Peru series and off course Deans Fishroom videos. Anyway, hoping to enjoy and contribute here from a country that is not too friendly with this hobby (Very hard water, very limited supply of fish). All the best from Spain, Ruud
