  1. Checked on the dude today. His patches got darker. Black-looking patches now? What’s that supposed to mean? @Colu pardon the detritus. I did siphon that up after the photos.
  2. Yeah. It was ok at first but now I notice I have to quickly turn it upside down after siphoning to ensure stuff doesn’t simply fall back out, and I put my finger over the end. I think I know the kind you’re talking about. Maybe it is called Tovolo Dripless?
  3. The video was really cute @Torrey. Thanks for doing that. Congrats to everybody! Hope all Is back to normal with the plumbing. My parents had a plumbing issue and to have it fixed involved contractors busting holes in walls all over the house. And then new carpeting… and patching holes.. and painting.. and noisy floor drying machines. What a mess. You can imagine the expense that went with that as well.
  4. We have a mission @TeeJay. I did a nice trimming on the swords today. Maybe it will stimulate new growth. Also thanks @Guppysnail for the shrimp lolly idea. Credit where credit is due.
  5. I guess since it’s Dia De Los Muertes, it’s the most appropriate time to say R.I.P. guppygrass. Cooked in transit I think. But the bulbs and swords show promise. ☺️
  6. Some fish tend to be shy/hide if the current in the tank is too strong for the species. This may or may not be a factor here, but thought I'd throw it out there as a possibility. Current too strong can also cause fish to become stressed/ill.
  7. Also a mild dose of aquarium salt if you have it; it will help the fish with electrolytes and aid in recovery. 1 TBSP per 5 gal. More reading material here:
  8. Sounds like columnaris to me. The treatment is the treatment is not safe for invertebrates (ie: snails, shrimp) Also you’ll want to add a second airstone when using medication. Here's a link to @Colu's thread about columnaris as well: https://forum.aquariumcoop.com/topic/15673-the-most-effective-treatments-of-commonly-posted-diseases/?do=findComment&comment=130613
  9. Do the bumps look fuzzy or fluffy, or are they kinda flat? Also do they appear white or grayish?
  10. Based on the description, possibly white hair algae or perhaps biofilm, neither of which will harm your fish. Either one is actually beneficial. Algae helps with water clarity and oxygenation. Biofilm is a food source. Pics would help with a more solid identification. I have some on my filter outflow too. If it gets annoying I remove it with a (new) toothbrush.
  11. Do you have any photos of the lumps? Tagging @Colu & @Odd Duck to see if they have any ideas.
  12. Had you quarantined the CPD and looked for signs of internal parasites (such as white poop)? Had you noticed any that were hiding or smaller/scrawnier?
  13. Is your liner all tarps or do you have a rigid one as well, like this? https://www.lowes.com/pd/MacCourt-71-in-L-x-58-in-W-Black-High-Density-Polyethylene-Pond-Liner-125-Gallon/3389466
  14. Divers love duckweed in the springs! It makes for crystal clear water underneath.
  15. I closely follow Father Fish, but he puts like 10 things in the substrate. Each additive has its own benefit, and the result is that the minerals/nutrients do not get depleted over time, which is what he found to be the issue w/ Walstad method. However, I will not try the method by buying all the stuff because it's CRAZY expensive to buy that many bags of things, esp. if just starting 1 tank or just "trying it out" (and then what would I do with all the leftover product?). But I would consider buying the soil additive kit he has on his website instead, which is only like 10 bucks. Over in the planted tank forum I read that soil users had a dramatic pH drop within 24-48 hours (ie: 7.5 to 6.6). Let us know how you fare.
