Cleaned 4 tanks, upgraded 1 ten gallon to a twenty, set up a new 2.5 gallon for a mystery snail grow out, and moved fish out of my twenty long to make room for my pair of Apistos and my group of cherry barbs that I will hopefully pick up tomorrow! (Sorry for upside down pictures lol)

I think the cheapest way would be like 10-15 sponge filters 😆 is that being to cheap? I think so You could do a few sponge filters and one canister filter.
-
I have no experience with this big of a tank but the absolute cheapest way I could think of is to get like 30-40 concrete blocks and a piece of plywood as a stand. (About $150-200) and get the tank used from Craigslist or something. (About $1000-1500) I’m not sure of this price it’s just a guess. and the equipment like lights, filter, heater would b (about $400) and you could stock it like @Spewing_nonsense_ said for. (about $50-60) for a total of at the high end $2160 dollars. But I wouldn’t be surprised to spend around $2500 in the end. Does this sound reasonable/realistic to you guys?

I was looking in one of my tanks and I found this snail? what kind of snail is it? The other snails I have in this tank are Nerite, mystery, MTS, and those other tiny ones in the picture.
-
Hello everyone! Just thought I would give a day three update. here they are they had a HUGE growth spurt yesterday and now instead of being microscopic there are Super tiny 🤣. I think they are going to be golden when they grow up, they have a light color foot and there shells are a little yellow color with black spots. When I took this photo I was counting them and I counted 64 snails. Which is good for me, I didn’t really want hundreds and this seems more manageable. (I actually have more than 64 because I found some baby snails on the bottom of the tank the rest were floating in, so I might have like ten more than 64)

IT WORKED! I hatched them less than 5 minutes ago and here they are I haven’t counted them but I have seen some start to move already. Thanks everyone for your advice. Now comes that hard part, raising them.
-
Okay I think I’m going to hatch them out in the morning using the method that I saw Rachel O’Leary do in her video. I hope it goes well!
-
Do you think a Lee’s Specimen Container would work? Should I put the eggs in water? I’ll check some YouTube videos out to, but do you think I could wait until morning? The top is still kind of pink?
-
Help Again! so I have been checking on the eggs every day and last night they started to turn grey and tonight I checked and they are even more grey and they are soft now! Are they ready to hatch? Here is a picture of both sides So what do I do! How do I help they hatch what should I put them in? please help im very exited and very inexperienced.

Rainbow shiners spawning in quarantine?
James V. replied to David Ellsworth's topic in General Discussion
Yes those are eggs! You could totally try to put them in a container with an air stone. I haven’t kept these fish before so I’m not sure how long they incubate, but a quick google could answer that. Just put them in the container and set the air stone in there so there is some circulation in the box but don’t put way to much, also replace the water every once and a while.- 3 replies

Like this? is this right? Should I have holes in the lid? How long until they hatch? I have seen people float these containers, should I do that? sorry for all the questions 🤣 I’m excited
-
I’m so excited! I was going to clean one of my tanks when I found a Clutch of Mystery Snail eggs! I haven’t cleaned the tank in a while so the water level got low enough I guess! The only problem is, I don’t know what I should do now? Do I remove them? How do you remove them? What do you put them in? And anything else I need to know should help a lot!

I put a small heater a 2.5 gallon tank ,and then put my DIY 1L bottle inside that tank to keep it warm.

I have a API master test kit and I was wondering if they ever expire? How long does it take to expire? I ask this question because I just realized today that the test kit that I have is from 2008!🤣 I think it might definitely be expired but I’m not sure.

Got my order in today! Complete with my brand new Apistos cave and plants! Now I just have to wait for them to grow in.😁 ( ps. Zebra Danios are only in to keep the cycle)

I’m just wondering what’s the most rarest most exotic fish that everyone has? Where did you get it? Why do you like it or not? I think this will be fun to see some rarer fish in this thread! Thanks for your responses! The rarest fish I have is a koi Angel 🤣 not very exciting.

What's your dream aquarium product that doesn’t exist?
James V. replied to pedrofisk's topic in General Discussion
My dad had the best idea I have ever heard of! Its a Motorized algae scraper. think of a Mag-Float algae scraper but the piece that’s goes on the inside of the tank (the scraper part) is a round very thin algae scraper pad with a some strong magnets. The piece on the outside would have a motor and some more strong magnets. You would turn it on and the magnets would rotate causing the inside scraper pad to spin, and clean all the algae on the glass. The thin and round scraper pad would cause minimal water disturbance, and since it’s motorized it could scrub off even really hard green spot algae! i feel this would be a awesome and a very easy way to clean your glass.- 729 replies
