  1. I have no experience with this, I’m trying Apistos out for the first time. But! I can tell you what I think, and am planning on trying. I haven’t ever used a planted substrate before but I definitely want to try it. So I got some eco-complete for my Apistos and I’m going to see how it works out, I think it will work out great! I also want to try shrimp with them. I plan on setting up a colony in a separate 10 gallon Tank, so that if some of the shrimp get eaten I can add more and more until they are able to get their numbers stable with the apistos. these are my plans and experiments I want to try, and I hope I can pull some of it off.
  2. Getting my tank set up for my Apistos! Here is a picture of the tank I’m going to put them in. (I can’t get the picture to be right side up sorry) 🤣 Also my day ended great, with an order from the co-op.
  3. Nice Cube @Streetwise I love that foreground plant that you have! What is it dwarf Sag or something? I think I want to use it in that new 20 gallon
  4. I recently got a 20L and I am loving it! There is so much floor space to work with, and lots of swimming room! I also have a 40b but I don’t know why I but I just don’t like the shape, I think if it was either taller or longer I would like it a lot more.
  5. If it was me I would do a max of about 25-30 ember tetras. It all depends on how often you want to change water from nitrate buildup. How often do you do a water change? If your in your current setup how long does it take for your nitrates to get too high? If it takes two, three, or even four or more weeks before you have to do a water change ,Then You definitely could add a lot more ember tetras in, but water changes might have to be more frequent On the other hand if it only takes a week or less before you have to do a water change then don’t add more, unless you don’t mind doing even more water changes.
  6. I have always wanted to try Orange Rice fish Or some sort of really cool looking guppie. I thinks it’s awesome when you look in a tank brimming with tons of the same fish!
  7. Today, I went to a local fish store to give them some of my platys for some store credit. ($1:25 each!) Then I went to Petco, to get gravel and some rocks for a new 20g-long Apistogramma tank I’m setting up! I got Twi bags of eco-complete And a bag of REALLY nice looking dragon stone. The only thing I didn’t find was a piece of spider wood, so I’ll have to get that later. ( For some reason it won’t let me put the picture right side up so sorry lol ) Now I just need plants and the fish!😀
  8. I think you could do around 5 or so angelfish in that tank. Right now I have a 40 gallon and there are 3 of my angelfish in there with some Congo tetras. If you are looking to breed the angels I would buy all the angels your getting, at about a the size of a quarter, and let them grow up together in the tank.
  9. Thank you guys for your advice! I was planning of pulling the fry, so it sounds like this might work thanks. ps. I watched the Aquarium Co-ops live stream and when Cory went to the forum (17:34) ,this topic was under the “Current topic” section lol 😂 it was amazing.
  10. Thank you so much for your experience with this! I am currently planning this 20g-long Tank out so I’m wondering if you think it would be possible to add a pair of Apistos in the same tank as the pair of Bristlenose? Or do I have to get them there own tanks? In my mind It doesn’t seem doable to put them in the same tank, but while I’m here it wont hurt to ask.
  11. Okay THANK YOU for your advice everyone AWSOME! I Should only do a pair in that size a tank right? Can any other fish be put in the tank too? What about other bottom dwelling fish? im a long way from ready to put fish in the tank, so no pictures for a while lol
  12. So I really want to try breeding Red Bristlenose plecos but I’m a little limited on space, so I was wondering if it would be possible to keep a pair in a 20 gallon long.(long because of its big surface area 13x30”) thanks for any advice that you can give me.
  13. How much on average would you say a pair of Apistos are on Aquabid? Including shipping
  14. Can you fit a Bristlenose in a 20 gallon? If I just had him with the Apistos would he eat fry?
  15. What Clean up crew would you guys suggest for this tank? With just Apistos.
  16. I wasn’t going to really do anything today until....I looked in a 10 gallon that I had taken all the fish and equipment out of and I found these... VERY VERY TINY celestial peal danio baby’s! i think there is at least 15 maybe 25 in there! I love the Days when you find accidental fry! So I ended up rearranging my mini fish room For these little guys. before After
  17. I almost always pour prime into my tank, then use a python strait from the tap into my tank. i haven’t had any problems that I know of that came from doing this, and my fish don’t seem to care how I do it lol.
  18. Thanks for the advice so far everyone! i also wanted to ask. Should I get a pair, or a trio? Or does it matter? What’s your experience?

  20. Hello everyone! I really want to get some Apistogrammas for a 20 gallon long that I am setting up. The only thing is, I’m not sure if my water will work for them? These are my parameters ph7.0 kh 8 gh 11 Can they live in this water? Will they thrive? Do you have any advice for a newbie for this fish? Also can rummynose tetras and corys live with them?
