  1. Thanks! I am just getting into breeding fish, and I love it so much. I’ll definitely keep everyone updated on my adventures.
  2. You could also take some media from the hang on back and throw it in the canister for a while. Then run both filters for a few weeks before you remove the HOB. You don’t want to take out all the bacteria that is in the filter for a sterile filter.
  3. Is that a MD fish tank inspired light and light holder?
  4. Yeah I wash small amounts at a time (like 1/4 a bucket) and rinse and slowly churn it around until it runs clear.
  5. Hello, I have been watching TM aquatics on YouTube and he feeds a lot of ebo aquristik foods to his plecos. Has anyone tried this food? I’m generally curious as I have a group of L134 plecos coming this week. thanks!
  6. Huge clutch of eggs! I think we are in the 60s somewhere. Best hobby ever!!!!
  7. I feed a shrimp pellet, green beans, xtreme sinking water, occasionally blood worms. And mine are thriving. Are you feeding enough? I have a 5 gallon upstairs that I threw some cherry shrimp in with my betta and they don’t get target fed and they won’t multiply in population. My breeding tanks explode in population because I feed them heavy. I do about a 30% water change weekly. My water parameters are ph7.2-7.4 gh 7 kh 3-4. I keep them at 76-78. I also keep a tank at room temp to slow them down. I hope this helps.
  8. Proud momma sterbai is watching her wrigglers hatch. So far so good 😊 😬
  9. I feed omega shrimp or catfish sticks. They always go for that. I also have a lot of Java Moss in my tanks.
  10. The instant no no is pricing. I have walked into stores and seen products that are 30-50% higher than online. I never buy anything from that place unless I see an ad for things on sale. They are a huge store and they tell you to go to Lowe’s next door for their bathroom. 😆. The other off putting thing to me is dirty tanks especially display tanks. It just screams lazy.
  11. I honestly can’t tell their sex until I see the male get the black throat and try to breed. Idk if there is another way to sec theM beforehand
  12. I also would put blood worms in, but then put a good chunk of them down near where they always sit so that the food was right by them. I also almost always feed close to when the lights go out.
  13. I love my rummynose tetras. They are by far my favorite tetra, with cardinals a distant second.
  14. I would also get glass covers to keep heat and water in and to not get water on the light.
  15. Get the 48 inch. The 36 says 36-48 but it only stretches the legs out. Get the 48 so you have leds above the whole length of the tank. I have an extra 36 inch that’s over 2 20s and I wish I had a 48 inch.
  16. I bought 2 metal gang valves and I love them. They are perfect for having a small fish room like myself. I will only ever use them from now on for multiple tanks
  17. I tried the 5 watt mini aqueon and it cooked them too. So I put a 25 watt heater in that turns off and on and it’s working.
  18. That’s just 1 ten gallon of shrimp. But I’m hustling selling online. I haven’t tried to get into a LFS yet. I’m trying to get more than just cherry shrimp to show on a stock list. That’s why I’m doing sterbai Cory, schwartzei cory, super red bristlenose, my tuxedo guppies, and I’m going to be buying L134 plecos for a lon term breeding project.
  19. Yeah I’m going to do an auto water change system when/if I can expand down the road. I think I just have to prove myself to my wife. And bank some money to be allowed to do it. I can sneak another 20 and a 5 gallon on this set up still.
  20. Thanks! It’s nothing huge, I’m hoping I’m a few years down the road my wife will let me take the workout room and convert it to an actual proper fish room. Until then, I’ll keep this set up going.
  21. Came home from work today to FINALLY find my sterbai Corys had spawned. Now to see how well I can hatch these and raise them. We will see. Never done this before. I counted 55 eggs.
