  1. An updated photo of the small fish room now that I have all of the tanks up and cycling. I might add 1 more 20 down low and I can squeeze a 5 gallon where the brine shrimp hatchery is.
  2. My apistogramma macmasteri momma brought her babies out of the cave today! First time breeding them!
  3. Here is my boy boomer. Hellboy HMPK. I love him.
  4. Trident fern. Grows pretty fast for a Java fern and looks amazing
  5. You could try buying a long vinyl tube for siphoning water out to your lawn so you don’t have to deal with buckets. I hate buckets.
  6. So I have an aquarist fail, but I’m sharing this out of my amazement. I received 6 black schultzei corys in the mail today. All alive. Acclimated them to temp and went to do the plop and drop. I put them in the tank and they all scurry like normal. I come back an hour later and can only find 5. I’m looking everywhere and can’t find the last one. I deal with my kids and get dinner started and I’m like I know I saw 6 in the bag, where is that last guy. I throughly check the tank and only see 5, so I go to the trash and look at the bags they came in, and I was expecting a dead fish that I didn’t see when emptying the bags, well THIS LITTLE DUDE WAS STUCK UNDER THE TAPED EDGES TO MAKE THE BAG SQUARE. And there was a little bit of water, but he was ALIVE. I couldn’t believe it because it had been 3 hours at this point since I put them in the tank. I hurried and put him in the tank and he did fine, it’s now been 3 hours since he was out in the tank and he is still breathing and moving around. I will monitor. i feel terrible about this. I should have caught it. The only thing I can think of as to why he is still alive is because corys can absorb oxygen through their gut. it’s either that story, or when I was losing my red tuxedo koi colony to something that I couldn’t figure out. Meds and everything wouldn’t save them. So I put a sick momma in a breeder box and hoped she made it long enough to give birth. She did and then died a few days later and now I still have that colony of guppies.
  7. Hello! mom going to be starting a L134 pleco tank in the coming months and was wondering what is the best size caves for these epic fish?
  8. I love Jimmy’s photography. And if they made high quality prints for your fish room of fish jimmy had shot, I bet it would be a hit. I’m dying for a high quality L134 picture for above their tank. please Cory!
  9. My honey Gouramis are male and female and the male can be a little of a turd when he wants to breed and the female is out of his league.
  10. Hey all! I’m currently towards the end of my small expansion to my small fish room for breeding. I’m getting into it for fun, and a way to support the hobby. I’m currently breeding red tuxedo koi guppies, red cherry shrimp, and sterbai Corys. What’s the most fun/ rewarding fish or invertebrate that you have ever bred? I’m curious about the responses.
  11. I cut out the carpet since it’s in my laundry room and I really don’t care. It was cheap stick on anyways. And I made sure the tanks were sitting level. I just want to be cautious before I fill them and start cycling to get season tank time.
  12. Hello, does this work with a little gap if all 4 corners are supported, or should I buy another block and just be 💯 safe?

I wish corys were more distinct because I will keep this guy forever. He is the smallest of the bunch and a huge fighter.
  14. It’s not an auto water change system, but I connected a drain to my washer drain so I don’t have to carry buckets everywhere full of mulm over the carpet and I can drain directly from siphon to that drain. For the tanks that are lower I plan on just pumping the water to the drain for water changes
  15. Do any of you know where dean and Cory get these screws that go into pvc for the fry system and general water taps? I can’t find them.
  16. I think I’m going to leave the 20s bare bottom and use a power head to pump for water changes, and it will be about 8 inches off the ground which is high enough for a 2.5 gallon bucket to be lower than the tank, that way I can spot vacuum. I think that should work.
  17. Hello, I’m planning on having a mini stand built to hold some 20S below my work table. How high should the tanks be off the floor so I can gravel vac and change water okay?
  18. One more question, what size tank should be dedicated for GBR grow out? I’m planning for a 20 high.
  19. Okay I checked my Tap water parameters: Ph 7.4 KH 4 GH 7 TDS 302 i think this could be doable with German rams. Idk y my tds is so high with a gh of 7.
  20. Yeah I’ll have to try. I’m really getting into the whole breeding game and I just wanna do it right.
  21. Yeah that’s where I get confused. The coop test strip says 300 my api says anywhere from 7-10 for degrees hardness. Those two are very different.
