  1. I watch every video they put up and I just am like “dang I wish I lived near them. I would shop there all the time.” They are so cool! My favorite brand out of any brand in the world. I think it’s all in the serving and educational heart they have. They truly want to make the hobby better. Meanwhile my LFS had Celebes rainbows for $24 per fish. Haha. I see Cory’s videos and he talks about how certain fish are expensive and I then look at the prices of the nearest store and it’s easily double what they are asking. Haha.
  2. You guys near the Coop have it so good. I would buy everything I would ever need from the coop. Cory has made his store and brand S tier in terms of Local fish stores in the whole country. I’m so jealous!
  3. I problem! I’m still a new fish keeper, (1.5 years) but I sell cherry shrimp for profit and that’s how I quarantined them when they came in. The Armani’s in my main tank just need to eat all day. That’s why an established tank is good. Let’s all the micro organisms grow on stuff for them to pick out all day.
  4. 1: it is safe as long as the levels don’t get too high. 2: I have a 10 pound tank on my 56 gallon and it has lasted almost a year. So for a 10 gallon you could literally do a 2.5 or something and have it last a looong time. 3: co2 is okay at a smaller tank, it’s just harder to get to the desired level. Just like more water volume is easier for water parameters, same for co2 4: all plants are ok for co2. They will grow faster and more condensed, all plants benefit from more carbon. 5 it isn’t hard to set up or use, there is a video cory did on setting up a diffuser for the warehouse. The hard part is finding the sweet spot. 6. Doesn’t affect filters at all
  5. Yeah I agree with @DShelton if the media was cycled in a previous tank, but then left out for a while, then all of that bacteria died. It’s probably just restarting to cycle.
  6. I agree. You can get low readings like that after a water change if you test soon after conditioning the water. Test the tap water before you put it in your tank just to see if your local tap has some too
  7. I quarantine everything that comes into my possession, what I would do is have the 10 gallon set up for a while and maybe quarantine some fish first before you bring the shrimp to quarantine. You could also bring some moss or something covered in algae to help too with the quarantine. I find as long as they have something to graze on they should be fine. Maybe a slice of cucumber so they can constantly eat.
  8. Yeah that looks really good! I’m just setting up another show tank and I’m trying to gather ideas. Thank you!
  9. Awesome, that is exactly what I am looking for. That’s a lot of really good information!
  10. Have you guys ever made natural caves from rocks ect for your plecos? I plan on getting a few plecos, but find the man made caves off putting when it’s not a breeding tank.
  11. I bought a co2 art one for my 56 gallon. It’s not the ultra premium one, and I can’t add multiple co2 lines to other tanks. It has worked great. Although I heard the fzone ones on Amazon are okay.
  12. You should look up tank tested’s 150 gallon on YouTube. That’s my dream tank. It’s amazing.
  13. I’m thinking I’ll do 1-3 l 134 plecos, 2 pairs of rams, some amano shrimp. A few ottos, and a schooling tetra. I’ll drop the cory cats because I just can’t find one that I think can tolerate that heat. I think that bio load will be small enough that a 50% water change once a week will keep the water quality okay. I just want to do my fish right you know? I don’t want to have incompatible fish or over stock ect. So many choices.
  14. So say I do a species only tank, how many German rams would safely be kept in a 40 breeder? could I put amano shrimp in to help clean?
  15. I would like to look into that! No one else I know keeps fish, and the people at work think I’m crazy for breeding red cherry shrimp for profit. 😂
  16. Thank you so much! It’s been running for almost a year now. It was my first big tank. I had a 5 gallon spec v to dip my toes in and see if I liked it, and fell in love. I think I have watched every video from aquarium coop. They taught me everything.
  17. Hello, I am going to be setting up a 50 gallon tank for german blue rams(thanks dean) but I’m having a hard time finding tank mates. I watched the video with Sean talking about how they go with everything from corys to tetras, but can they really go that hot? I plan to stock the tank with: 2 pairs of German blue rams 1 leopard frog pleco 6-8 Cory cats (not sure which ones, maybe black schultzei school of tetras to be determined. is this doable or will these fish not tolerate the high temps. How many German blue rams should I put in the tank? It will be heavily planted and it’s a 40 breeder but a little taller. thanks for the advice!
  18. Here is my male. Haven’t gotten a good picture of my female.
  19. Hey thanks! It’s an apistogramma macmasteri pair that I got about 2 weeks ago.
  20. hello everyone! I am a newer hobbyist who started December 2019. I basically learned everything I know from the coop. I have a fluval spec 5 with my hellboy betta, a 56 gallon high tech tank, and a 20 long that I breed red cherry shrimp for profit (otherwise the wife wouldn’t let me get much). I absolutely love this hobby and the community. Not many hobbies anymore are as supportive as aquarists. I currently am going to place another 50 gallon tank on the other side of the window that I will be keeping GBR, a L134 pleco, and some other fish that I haven’t settled on. I plan to follow a MD fish tank style for the new one. thanks for looking! I am really late to the forum party.
