  1. We’re living in the future, y’all. I think these are sweet!
  2. I followed my Tao comment into a google search and found this most excellent article. Your selection is most definitely from the teachings of Daoism. I especially loved from my link, "If you don't know what to do, do nothing." Probably not wise to ignore sick fish, but I do wonder how many weren't sick to begin with? But this list is definitely from the first teaching: SIMPLICITY, PATIENCE, COMPASSION. https://www.goodnet.org/articles/these-4-teachings-daoism-will-help-you-navigate-life edited to add: I'm not discussing religion, more like philosophy. (If anyone might misinterpret.)
  3. This is a top-notch thread! It's good to see myself in the replies. 😄 Cory taught me the importance of patience. It is a theme that winds through much of his content. It's a good thing to strive for, but not easy to reach, this Nirvana. Still, I'm glad to be studying the Tao of Cory.
  4. Can you imagine having to be told coal gas is poison to fish? 🤪
  5. Aw, how awful! The wood sounds amazing, though. Could you use the holes to plant anubias or java fern?
  6. The answers from the site say it's for only one tank.
  7. There are usually Q&As on some of those big box store websites. I know because I recently bought a stand online. I agree with lefty o, though.
  8. Daniel, you've just illustrated for me the benefits of being far too easily amused. 😄
  9. Welcome! Louisiana is my birth state and very close to my heart. ❤️
  10. My ex and I found something unidentified that looked just like a clam. We couldn't believe it, so we took it to our fish guru, the Fish Doctor. He looked at it and confirmed what we suspected, a freshwater clam. My husband said to him, "You'll never believe where we found it! It was lying in a puddle of water under the back seat of our VW Beetle!" George didn't miss a beat, ripped it open, and proclaimed, "It's a pistachio!"
  11. That’s pretty slick, @Anita! Maybe I need to order some hot and sour soup.
  12. So this thread has taught me a lesson. No more posting while distracted. If I need a diversion while I wait for my work computer to do its thing, I’ll stick to the twitters where no one cares if I say something silly.
  13. Thanks, @Daniel. I may be a fool, but at least I'm a fool for love.
  14. I should have smelled it when I read Cory's quote, but seriously, I am so gullible. Congratulations, Daniel.
  15. My greatest April Fool's prank was getting married and buying a house. Eleven years later and I still haven't topped it. 😄
  16. I remember this plant from my last time in the hobby, but I don’t remember the robust growth of it. I can almost see it grow. And I wasn’t expecting a lilypad.
  17. The little guy is back to normal and the only thing he's full of is himself. 😄
  18. Rosemary is so pretty, @Hobbit!
  19. I've been looking for pictures of our dogs, Alfie and Lulu. I found this snuggly pic with Lulu on the left. Lulu is our oldest pet at the moment. We got her to be a companion to my beamish boy, Spot. She became his eyes at the end. She is a terrier mix, adopted from a woman my husband knows who trains and finds homes for dogs. She and Alfie are best buds. Like Rufus, she has skin allergies, which are about to be bad (summer in the South, so fun!), but we try to manage them, the best we can. Lulu is a rough and tumble dog, terrier through and through. I looked for pics of her dirty and exhausted from hunting critters in holes, but I can't find any. Alfie is—we reckon—a schnoodle, which is to say he's a schnauzer/poodle, but we don't know, as he came from the animal shelter. I imagine, based on his fear of the kitchen, that he was abandoned after he helped himself to the expensive steaks left out on the counter, but that, too, is part of Alfie's mythical origin story. He's a funny dog. He loves to have fun and is always ready, but if there's no fun to be had, he'll be on our bed, as evidenced below. Just don't ask him what it's all about, because he is not a deep thinker.
  20. In binge watching Foo the Flowerhorn, I learned about a DIY method that seems super easy: Take a plastic water bottle with an airline tubing-sized hole near the bottom of the bottle. Glue airline tube to the hole. Attach one of Aquarium Co-Op’s air-valves to the tubing. Place a small board in the corner of the tank and adjust the new fish bag under dripline of bottle on the board. Fill with the contraption with tank water and let gravity do its thing.
  21. He didn’t seem the worse for the experience. Still hanging out at the top though. I meant to give him another bath tonight but I got distracted and now the tank light is off. I’ll reassess tomorrow. He’s very active and full of spunk, even if he does have too much air in him.
  22. No, but he isn’t super long, but he is pretty good sized.
  23. Hey, @Rikostanhere's your cat's twin brother, Rufus. He's a pretty boy, but we adopted him from a family with children he would attack. He has quite a vivid imagination. Here, he is pretending to be a laying hen. The Secret Life of Rufus Kitty.
