  1. Your tank is looking really good. I love the change in plants. I don't have anything against artificial plants but I will admit I certainly do prefer real ones.
  2. Hello! Your tank is lovely. It's much, much nicer than the tank I had when I was your age. I'm glad I don't have any pictures because it was a bit embarassing.
  3. Yeah it definitly is! I enjoy the anticipation. I'm not sure when or where I will set up another tank. I'm trying to be conservative as I know a move is in the near future so I'm dragging out setting up this one.
  4. I certainly would be. I have clown killies and I love them but they are not going to be easy to breed in my set up. So I got mot live bearers so I wouldn't have to deal with all the babies now I am like ... how do I get the babies?
  5. Right now I have a lot of plants growing and a few pairs of killifish swimming around. I have one lone cory cat that is sassy as heck snd wants to school with the killifish. I'm waiting for my lfs to get another shipment in so I can get him some buddies. I very much would like some more killifish.
  6. Hello fellow Michigander! Covid definitely had a lot of influence on me getting back into the hobby. When I think about my previous two tanks I cringe. The internet and access to so much information and so many other hobbyists has made this go around much more enjoyable. I currently have one 15 gallon planted tank. I am not sure I'm into setting up a discus tank (maybe some day who knows), but I definitely have plans for a rainbow fish tank and some more killifish at some point.
  7. Love the look of the tank! I just got back into it myself a lot of it thanks to Cory as well, and I'm really enjoying seeing my tank mature and evolve.
  8. Gorgeous tanks. Definite tank goals
  9. Longer rather than taller. I guess its a good thing I tend to prefer smaller fish that don't need a ton of vertical space. I am short and I have short people arms. Anything that ended up in the bottom of a tall tank would be gone for forever.
  10. I always wanted to set another tank up. With college and moving around it was too hard and a lot of work moving equipment and fish. I finally gave it up and told myself that when I was more settled I'd get another tank then life happens as it does and it got pushed to the way back burner. Quarentine gave me a lot of time to research what had changed in the hobby and track down equipment and local fish stores. Now that I have one tank set up I wonder why it took me so many years to finally get back to it. I really enjoyed the research and learning process as well as setting my first planted tank up and discovering killifish. It's so relaxing to watch in the mornings and evenings. So the extra time on my hands and the extra money didn't hurt. Inwas paid double for a good chunk of the year for hazard pay but my expenses were minimal since I wasn't able to go out or do amy traveling. I figured if I was going to drop some cash into it now was a good time. Of course... the problem is now one tank isn't enough lol!!
  11. Ooomg me too. I've already put a lot into my 15 gallon. I really want some more but I'm going to have to save a bit more before I do that. I am also slightly hesitant because I know I will be moving in a couple years and the thought of moving a half dozen tanks of various sizes makes me anxious lol. I would like a couple 20s and maybe one larger like a 50-75g for rainbow fish.
  12. Happy birthday! Killifish would work as well and they can be quite easy to breed so says thr fish breeder in my lfs.
  13. 200% agree. I see it a lot. Even using their real names people have this sense of disconnect because they can't see the person they are "talking to". They feel safe saying all sorts of nasty things like they have forgotten they are insulting and being nasty to a real person. Then again how o was treated face to face when I worked retail was enough to prove people are quite capable of being nasty that way too with no regrets or hesitations.
  14. I don't usually wash wash with soap but I will give my hands a good rinse in clean water. I handle a lot of plants and fertilizers and things around the house so I went to make sure I rinse of the resdue of those things before sticking my hands in the tank.
  15. Lovely tank and welcome to the hobby. I am pretty new myself. I just set of mu first tank in over a decade this summer and I'm having a really good time so far. The only problem is I underestimated how addictive fish are.
  16. Welcome! Welcome to the hobby and to the community. If you haven't considered killifish? They are lovely snd wuite addictive.
  17. You are welcome. I really want a pea puffer tank but they have been kinda hard to source. My lfs has only been able to get one small shipment in and they were super super tiny. They were basically large fry when they came in. The demand for them has just been astronomical, same with a lot of fish and aquatics supplies and the supply chain has been disrupted.
  18. Oh that's hard. Apistos and pea puffers are both good choices. I have a hard time casting my vote either way because I love both and both are tanks I want to have someday but I don't have right now. I guess it would depend on what you can get right now. I'd lean to either apistos or maybe some kind of killifish. I love killifish thanks to my lfs. The owner is a big killifish fan so they are always bringing in these gorgeous pairs. Absolutely stunning.
  19. My three other pets. The black snd white one is called D-dot (short for diva dot) and she is the boss female. She is the first cat I adopted after I had to put down my lifelong companion. She came from a local non profit rescue who found her abandoned at the side of the road with a grub in her neck. I love her and she's very sweet in her own way but she was a demented little wall climbing demon when she was a kitten. She is about five years old now.. The next one I got was the apricot colored male nsmes Petey. He came from the same rescue Dot came from. He was trapped and rescued from an animal dump site at some campground. He is one of thr sweetest snd naughtiest cats I've had. If he wants attention he will knock things over until he gets it. He has the sweetest and most laid back disposition. He really loves pretty much every person and animal he meets. He is my lap cat and shoulder rider. I can't believe someone threw away this sweet boy. My boy is about four years old but still acts like a kitten. The last one I got is my Penny (fat calico) she was a rescue as well. My sister had seen a post on her neighborhood site that this cat was dumped and crying outside her house. She can't take it because she is allergic and her boyfriend was going to shoot it. So naturally I couldn't let that happen so I drove over with sister and we grabbed her. She was so tiny she hadn't even lost her milk teeth yet. She os now about three years old.
  20. @BreeMarieYes thank you! He is absolutely adorable! I love the photo of him all tucked in. One of the ladies I used to work with had a bearded and she always brought in the cutest pictures of him. She has a harness for him for when he goes outside that has little dragon wings attached to it. The video of him running around the grass in his harness was one of the cutest things I've seen. Lovely kitty as well. I have three meow meows and each one is something else to put it mildly. All of them were rescues. If I had things my way I'd basically have a small zoo as well. I'd love to have some assorted snakes and frogs but I was given a hard no on that from the others I live with.
  21. My lfs recommend building the tank from the top down since the bottom dwellers can be a bit more sensitive to water quality than the others. They advised I take it slow and wait at least two weeks between introductions to allow the tank to adjust to the new additions. So I second advice that was already given. I also second needing pictures of this bearded dragon.
  22. What a steal on the tank. I'm a little jealous. I've been keeping an eye on the marketplace for my area in case something like that pops up.
