  1. Last spring we had two baby Barred owls on our property. After fledging it took them several weeks to learn how to take care of themselves. It was really fun to watch, and the fish in the 24” deep patio pond were safe. The little Owls realized quickly that they couldn’t stand on the floating plants. 😂
  2. I’ll throw another option into the mix. I’ve seen these at my local shop and they’re very nice. AquaTop Pisces Cube Style 5 Gallon Aquarium https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P1J55CF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_RY0ZQD02526JX51QVRQM
  3. Maybe someone more experienced will reply, but I know they only grow to about 3/4”. I’d say at least 12 but someone please correct me if I’m wrong.
  4. I’ve only ever done freshwater, but I fell in love with a saltwater puffer in a huge tank at my doctors office. It was by far the most interactive fish I’ve known. I’d love to try keeping one someday
  5. If you bought a smaller fish like Chili Rasboras you could fit in a larger school 😀
  6. I’ve seen standard 10 gal kits for under $50 but they come with a preset heater that might be a deal breaker for serious fish keepers.
  7. I agree with the planted Pea Puffer idea. A nice Koi Betta and Kuhli Loaches would be cool too.
  8. I was going to say a nice square 75gal 360 degree rimless nature scape, but then I remembered the topic is dream tank so this one would do nicely. I might scape it a little differently and maybe different stocking, but the tank is perfect.
  9. You should be fine. I’ve started two tanks recently using pre cycled filter media all parameters stayed perfect. I checked with Aquarium Coop before I did this just in case.
  10. I can always think of a reason I need to go to Aquarium Coop. 😀
  11. Fish only: 1. Kuhli Loach 2. Betta 3. Ottocinclus - thanks for keeping my tank clean! Others: Mystery Snail Ammano Shrimp - so entertaining at feeding time! They fly to the sinking pellets, grab one and retreat to the highest point in the tank to eat their prize. Neocaridinia Shrimp
  12. Aqueon the label indicates it neutralizes chlorine and chloramine Would it be a good idea to switch to something like Seachem?
  13. Wow, those are really cool, I’d buy some.
  14. haha, some serious light for those buckets! I love the Fluval 3.0 but I need to make a little extender to get it centered over the 14” tank. I’m glad the shop staff at the Coop talked me into it. It’s more than enough light for the 14” depth even at 50%.
  15. Not much experience, but small shrimp would fit in my Betta’s mouth. Maybe with the right betta and full grown shrimp? If it worked it would be a great combo. My shrimp tanks seem to produce lots of nitrates, but I have a mystery snail in each tank so that might be the culprit.
  16. I’ve only had them since mid Nov, so about three months. I honestly haven’t had good luck. My first batch of very small mixed neocardinia was massacred in my community tank by dwarf frogs. I’m trying the shrimp/snail only tanks in hopes of breeding enough to restock the community tank, but I’m slowly losing shrimp to unknown causes. (The frogs have been banished)
  17. I’d be tempted to fill it with floss instead of the coarse looking sponge, or maybe half sponge or half floss?
  18. Thanks, good advice. With my tap water I’ve been losing shrimp slowly. Addressing the soft water issue seemed like a good place to start. Now I think I’ve made the situation worse. The shrimp don’t seem distressed and are eating well, but I haven’t seen a molt since I added the wonder shell. I think I’ll try and drip in a 50% change and see what happens.
  19. I’ve been watching your channel. Your catfish is really great. My family loves it.
  20. Thanks, unfortunately I noticed that after the big GH spike. I’d like to keep things as stable as possible for the shrimp, but still need to reduce the GH. Would you recommend small water changes once a day or just one big one to get it all done at once? my tap water: GH 3
