  1. It looks to be some pretty bad damage. Can you please give us your water parameters for everything, including ammonia? How is your filtration setup.
  2. KH is definitely a fickle one because of how KH works. But yes, all buffers I have heard it mentioned about how they "don't last forever". Things like seiryu stone will be a constant stream of GH buffer, but slower. Crushed coral would be a constant stream of KH. https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/ph-gh-kh I try to wait 24-36 hours, then test. So yeah, as long as it's been 24 you should have an accurate reading.
  3. It could. Initial reading after ~8-12 hours vs. 24 hours and everything has dissolved can vary. There might be an initial high number, then it tails off as things mix around evenly.
  4. 💪 Fingers crossed that everything rebounds quickly for you, get better Spike!
  5. It can, but you would just test the tap to verify. The plants or inverts may end up using up some of the GH and that could be attributing to the drop. Sometimes buffers don't dissolve and a lot of them recommend that you dilute them, then add to the tank. It's also been mentioned with things like KH buffers that over time they will "drop off" from your tank water and stop buffering. It's just something to test, track, and really dial in the process. It's tough to get it going at first, but once you do it's easier, I swear!
  6. PSO will definitely "out compete" other slower plants like the lily or fern. I've had it choke out dwarf sag as well. Between the floaters and the PSO, I can see a lot of those two doing a lot of growing and pushing nutrients away from other plants. I would imagine that if you keep the PSO in check, keep the floaters from blocking out the other plants, then you'll have a really developed planted ecosystem. I can't really chime in about the fish, but I don't see any issues with adding a gourami to the group. Adding "some nano fish" might be fine, but just keep it in the temp range that fits for all of the fish. Panda would be "cooler" which would be rasbora, minnows, danio, or barbs, but I am unsure what a gourami needs! 😞
  7. This of it as an issue where it gets to step 4 out of 5 and it's just hanging. You did the right thing by hard resetting it, but it's also something where power cycle everything, the device, the phone, and the internet, and give it another shot. It happens. If you need me to I can try one of mine and give it a shot. I don't think I've updated them in a while.
  8. I don't think Miir is available there, but they make some cool stuff. Hydroflask? Camera stuff? Winter clothes (or gift card for that)? When you say nature-loving, are we talking hiking, beach, forests, or? Details might help steer direction towards specific useful things.
  9. Fritz has them online on their website. These are them: Day 1: Add the contents of one packet per 10 gallons of water. Day 2: Add one packet per 10 gallons of water. Day 3: Add one packet per 10 gallons of water. Day 4: Add one packet per 10 gallons of water. Day 5: Add one packet per 10 gallons of water. Day 6: Repeat this five-day treatment if symptoms improve, but have not completely disappeared. What size is your tank?
  10. you can just use an airstone, drop the waterline, and drop all your ceramic media into the tank for a few days. It should keep everything going. That being said, it's incredibly difficult to repair a seam line that. The silicone prep you need to do in order to get the bond to hold over time is going to be something that isn't as simple as adding some to the portion that was damaged. The way the glass tanks are bonded there is two beads of silicone. The first is the ones that is used to seal one pane of glass to the next. This is the portion you see when the glass is placed against one another to form the cube. The second seam is the internal one that is along all of the edges to try to fully waterproof the tank. The portion that is damaged is that inner seal and it looks like what you would want to do is just keep and eye on it and make sure you don't see things progress. Take photos and keep a record for yourself to look back at. It's a weak point, but not might actually be damage to the seal itself. Let me elaborate... This gives you an idea of how to repair a seam and what happens when you try to do layers of silicone as opposed to proper bonding of the silicone to the glass. The fish corner ran into a similar issue where they had a leak... Ohio fish rescue same thing.... and they did a similar thing of trying to clean it, prep it, and then add more silicone, but ultimately it is very difficult to prep it properly and get the silicone to bond. You might get bubbles, you might have it just peel off after a short time, there's a lot of ways where it may not do anything if you just add some to that area.
  11. Well done, nice work! @JillianGarcia05 I send this video and it's not sarcasm or a joke in any way. It's not a clickbait title. It's just honest conversation and it's the place I start and remind myself constantly whenever I have an issue. One thing I will mention or specify here as a major note is that understanding your water is key and critical to success. You have the tank cycled, so learning about filtration and how filtration works might help. Understanding KH and GH might help! Understanding the basics of plants might help. All of that touches on and focuses right around what is the water doing..... testing when you need to. https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/ph-gh-kh

@Cmullins Heres an article about mycobacterium. This is the common disease for rainbowfish unfortunately. I will also attach Bentley's talk which does have a segment covering the disease. It does appear visually to be this. https://fisheries.tamu.edu/files/2013/09/SRAC-Publication-No.-4706-Mycobacterial-Infections-of-Fish.pdf At about 32 minutes he discusses Myco
  13. @govsfabshop can you get us some photos a bit closer to the fish? It's really hard to see. I believe, whether ich is stress caused or just from external contamination that you'd want to treat for ich properly using the salt+ich-x method:
  14. My only experience rep with the eye issues is Riddick. It was a bacterial thing in addition to an actual eye injury. This is her now: That eye never got fully recovered and based on research it's likely a cataract. When I first saw the issue she had ghostly white eyes. If you want to share photos and stuff that might help Colu and Odd Duck with their recommendations on what to use. I would recommend the maracyn 2 route or Kanaplex route just to try to clear up things if the salt doesn't show any affect here shortly. If you haven't, I would also toss in some botanicals.
  15. What flavor do you want! There's a channel out there, Mark's shirmp tanks and he's got half a dozen or so. All of them work for both shrimp and snails. Here is a playlist of his food videos as well. He makes the food out of a lot of different things:
  16. Mine never had any issues. He was with some Julii corydoras. Every fish has their own personality, so fingers crossed for that situation. I'm sorry about Punk, is there anything in the water besides salt? Have you tried any bacterial meds apart from the flakes?
  17. I really feel like I should boil some cones or something tonight. I did a good size water change today and just cleaned the main feeding area. I tried to be extra careful adding water back in with the delicate baby shrimp in there. Almost busted out the ladder and dripped some water back in, but it's colder and I wanted to just do it manually, scoop by scoop, and get the tank up to temp. I messed with the air and try to adjust and balance that aspect. I added some heaping scoops of the GH buffer to cover that and hoping I have the dose dialed in. Testing tomorrow to verify. I dissolved it prior to adding the tank and in trying to be a lot better about the method to reduce stress on the shrimp. So far the total is 8 females, 1 male. 1 male and 1 female had no molt issues showing while 7 females did have molt issues. I could be missing one, but I believe that's where things are at. The last one I found was in the feeding dish the day before yesterday and it was a younger female, no sort of molt issues. I'm leaning towards food as the result of that one or she did molt fine, but still was overstressed. It's a big two weeks for the tank.
  18. How was balancing? I have one pump with the collar on one tap and the ziss stone on the other and it's been a bit of a challenge. I had to open up the ziss to be able to not have the pump angry at me with the gang valve. I think that helped a lot. I was hoping that having everything on collars would make it a breeze again, similar to having everything on airstones.
  19. I scoop mine up with a 5-8" fine mesh net.
  20. That moss in the shrimp tank looks pretty perfect in the vid. Very cool thing you did @Guppysnail! as always. The killis look great! That one in the center of the photo looks so much like a rainbow version of a Greenland shark. It has a red line right where the doodle mouth would be. Can't unsee. 😂
  21. If you're limited on time, I think episode one speaks volumes. It's a busy month, but it's also a very quick show and you can probably knock it out in ~2 nights or something. It's well done and it is one that I think is one of the better ones made of recent. I'll add more thoughts as I get through the other episodes, but for episode one... here we go! Ep 1: Ep 2: Ep 3: Ep 4: Overall, I really do enjoy this look into the chimp culture and how things work. It was really well done. I was glad when I stumbled upon it and I was really glad to get a chance to revisit it with fresh eyes again. It's a "long movie" of sorts, but it's just enjoyable and broken into manageable chunks. Even if you don't want to watch the whole series, I think the first episode is really enlightening and it's good to be able to share that! Love the pick, looking forward to more like it.
