  4. looks like hole in the head, not sure thhough but what @Colu has suggested to use would treat that also. If your fish is still eating get some seachem focus also, mix the focus and metroplex together with food and feed. If your not sure just follow the directions on the bottles...
  5. Yes cut back on your water change and use distilled water mix like others have said
  6. I have 3 in a heavy planted 10 gallon. Started out with 2 but found one at LFS by himself so I picked him/her up( flt bad for the little joker) They are doing great as of right now....
  7. biggest one I could find in my quick search 3.5 to 4.5 inches
  8. I have 2 Jewl cichlids in a 36 gallon tank, plants and caves is key, them jokers are always looking for a fight but I think you would be good with 2 of them. They are a pretty fish and fun to keep. Just a thought if you still want to go the cichlid way..... My next setup, a 55 gallon, is going to be Gouramis 6 of them. They like still water, pH should be neutral to slightly acidic, with low hardness. I think I'm going to try black water with them not real dark but more of a tea tint golden brown. I would suggest to do some research on them to make sure you understand the fish your thinking of getting.
  9. Good deal, sounds like he was not happy by himself. My little group of 3 do very good in my 10 gallon.
  10. Mine ate a 3 inch cichlid the other day, well I think it did cause the cichlid is nowhere to be found....just gone, ther one day gone the next☹️
  11. bad strips or moisture got to them some how which caused them to go bad, that is my thinking.
  12. Not sure what folks do wrong but Ich-X has never stain none of tanks, not once....
  13. might take a week or so, the larvae will need time to grow a little also.
  14. also if the little guy starts feeding, give him time, he will get use to you and will come up when you show up to feed him
  15. I got two 5 gallon buckets set up out side, I set them up when it started to heat up outside. I know that is no help but any water that is stagnant. I use a small fish net to catch them and rinse the net and larva off befor I put them in my tank.....
  16. as fish folk said mosquito larvae. also when you feed, walk off stay out of sight if you can just a heads up they do better in groups belive it or not I have 3 in a 10 gallon tank
  17. I was able to find mine local at a LFS.
  18. Green terror all day long....in that tank he/she will reach 8 to 10 inches, if you can get a male and female even better I have one female Green terror, 3 golden dojos, one fire mouth, and 6 cory cats in there with her but my tank is a 150 gallon
  19. you use 1 inch bulk heads, 1 inch pvc rturn, 1 inch drain, and a 1 inch energency drain just in case your main drain clogs......
  20. I had this happen to me after I did a water change and for got to treat the water with a decholorinator. My fish looked exactly like yours, not matter what I did I could not save none of them. The damage had already been done. I lost all my cichlids in that tank within days.....it was a hard taught leasson for me So sorry your going through this situation.....
