  1. yeah now that I think of it I did do some trimming but only around 4-5 of the brown ones since they weren't really in good shape from my lfs. But I only trimmed after the plant settled in. Another thing was that the main chain sword had a stalk coming from it. I searched online and it said it could flower if above the waterline. It didn't flower since it wasn't tall enough, instead it grew into a mini chain sword. idk if that means anything.
  2. I had the same experience with mine. My main plant sent a chain of 4 runners before i moved them but after that all the plants started to melt. The runners melted to the point that there was no chance of recovery. The main plant has just been barely hanging on. Just last week I uprooted it and all its root were brown and mushy. It baffles me as I fertilize with seachem comprehensive, put root tabs and run co2. 😕
  3. Ik on the bottle it says it's safe for marine use. But I've just came from a diff forum regarding this questions and I haven't found the answer yet. In that thread everyone was confused so it wasn't really helpful. Basically someone called Hikari if they could use prazipro with salt in a freshwater tank, and the man who answered said no, and that made them wonder why it was then marketed to be safe for marine uses blah blah blah. So yeah, if anyone knows please do tell.
  4. Uh... I wouldn't use it if I were you. I once got a bottle of Seachem flourish from amazon with the seal broken and it was something like what you described but not that dark. I used it for a couple of days and the fish and plants were fine. My new bottle I got expires 2024. So I think 10 years is out of question.
  5. I'm currently treated ich in my main tank. I have the temp up to 82f and I'm also dosing api liquid super ick cure. The fish with ick was a platy but now it's fine, except that I now suspect it has some internal parasite. It has refused to eat for 3 days straight. I've tried soaking it food in garlic juice but that didn't work. I currently don't have any other meds than ick meds so i'm using salt. Initially, I wanted to take the platy out and put it in my 2 gal shrimp tank where the plants in there could easily be moved but i didn't know if ghost shrimp were salt tolerant. But its all good now, i've move the platy to a 3 gal bucket with an air stone and heater with water from the main tank. btw could someone identify what's happening to my platy, what salt level treats it and for how long. Thanks!
  6. Can ghost shrimp tolerate a level 2 or 3 salt treatment?
  7. You can leave the lights on for longer periods or shine some other light on one side of the glass for algae(since you've got floaters). I do that sometimes and it works. Beautiful tank and shrimp btw👍
  8. So.... I've recently had a fish with ich and the ich med I had was Tetra Ich Guard which has victoria green and acriflavine. How long after the dose can I put back my shrimps and snails?
  9. No, I don't think the whole plant should be submerged, only the roots can or the plant will just rot away. And if i'm not mistaken, if your fish bite or chew the plant it may be toxic for them. Although i wouldn't worry about that since their roots are pretty strong. Just rmb to let the plant heal if you decide to cut it before putting it in the tank. Hope this helped:)
  10. Yeah hope so too. But at this point I've already given up on the vals, its been close to 3 months with no change. I recently got co2 so i'll see how it goes.
  11. Wow, I have the exact same problem. My water is also really hard and I have ferts, root tabs and co2 but my vals still don't grow
  12. Thanks! Yeah i've thought about it but my tank is only 10 gal and I don't want to over crowd the tank. But the bronze is fitting in pretty well and has even tried to breed multiple times with the female emeralds(with no success).
  13. Off topic but can you tell me the name of that substrate(like on the bag)? Also I have 3 green emerald cories and one bronze(I thought they were the same).
  14. I have a tank with cories and I want carpeting plants in it too. I have left some parts just gravel for the cories to dig around in. Is there a carpeting plant that can't be easily dug up and looks good at the same time. My tank is being fertilized(substate too), has moderate to high lighting and will have co2 injection(soon). I am just worried that if I plant the new plants and their roots are not anchored the may just float away when the cories dig there. I'm open to any plant suggestions!
  15. wow congrats, beautiful tank too!
  16. eww...looks like i'll be trying the baking soda/citric acid recipe
  17. I'll be using a silicone sealant so it won't leak
  18. oops😅
  19. I have not tried it so I don't know if it'll work but this is a recipe I found on a few websites. They said yeast and sugar is for the co2 and the baking soda was a ph buffer so the yeast doesn't die so quickly.
  20. I know. Thanks tho
  21. If I close the gas off, won't the bottles explode? And what exactly does an airstone do, I know it's used to split the bubbles but how does that help with not gassing the fish? Will the amount of co2 i'll be injecting lower the ph of my water significantly?
