I really enjoy street food and food trucks, especially gyros and other skewer goodness. I found this excellent graphic for vertical meat skewers:

Growing Moss for Shrimp tanks
Streetwise replied to Redwing RC's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
I have tested terrestrial moss, and it does best on emergent wood that just touches the waterline. -
There is an upcoming video game where you get to play as a cat!

Aquaclear not starting up
Streetwise replied to Jacob Hill-Legion Aquatics's topic in General Discussion
It doesn’t siphon out when off. I just turned it off and back on to reply, and it was fine. -
I can remember two youthful turtle interactions. As a teenager, I cleared leeches from some turtles in a stream near Lake Champlain. I also pulled a snapping turtle across the road when I had my first car. I put out a branch, which was snapped-on instantly. I dragged it to the other side. I have all of my fingers and toes.

I’m a symmetry nerm, so this is my HoB: It fits a few sizes of Aquaclear foam. -
Some of my plants aren’t growing?

Why blue 100%? I never run more than 1%. -
@Torrey, I need to top-off all the tanks from evaporation. I’m on it now.

Summer Tubbing & Outdoor Ponds - Species to Consider?
Streetwise replied to Nicohorse318's topic in General Discussion
One fun surprise with keeping white clouds outside until late fall, was that they almost instantly spawned when moved to an indoor tank with room temperature water. I wasn’t prepared to deal with it, so I didn’t get to enjoy fry. As others have mentioned, neocaridina are also temperature-hardy.- 29 replies

@JessLynne7, your local climate might give you a margin of error. I’m in an old building in the northeast, so my tanks regularly dip into the 60s F.

I have been running without heaters for a while now. My last one was for a betta. My fish and shrimp are doing fine. My species are in my journal.

I had a busy day yesterday. I helped my dad setup his new Mac mini and Apple Studio Display. I’ll take his old iMac 27 for a home office. I also took the neglected basement tubs outside to see what is left. I don’t know what I will do with them. I want to take at least one to my apartment for a duckweed last chance saloon, and maybe one for green water. I don’t want to have to winterize, so no grand plans. Then it was a big Subaru day. My dad traded in his 2009 Tribeca 3.6R and my mom’s 2017 Outback 3.6R for a 2019 Ascent Touring. I traded in my 2011 Legacy 3.6R for a 2016 Legacy 3.6R. This is my fifth Subaru. I can’t wait to pick it up tomorrow!

My Askoll 20 came as an all-in-one with overhead filtration. It was really cool, although the built-in light biased the front of the tank. Some early posts in my journal might show the original configuration. Maybe I will revert it for fun and take some photos.

I should clarify that I got one kit with a pair of detectors. The lunar lights are just a string of singular white leds, which can be controlled by the Apex lunar schedule (or not). They would be more interesting with a marine tank. I already had the Apex.
