  1. I have not yet tried brackish tanks. My introduction to marine tanks was when a buddy moved in college, and gave me a tank and some saltwater fish. I had to very quickly learn to mix marine aquarium salt with my local water in a bucket. I would test with a specific gravity meter, but after some practice, I could do it by feel, along with the tap temperature. Go for it!
  2. I am still trying to catch and release a chipmunk. I just got bit for my troubles. So slippery!
  3. Three different tanks. Second photo is new pre-filter. Third photo is duckweed.
  4. I love Anubias! I have wet houseplant tanks just to grow it for fun.
  5. The old pre-filter sponge seems compressed, and doesn’t expand back to the original size after squeezing out. The in-filter sponges don’t seem to get the same workout.
  6. After getting into this thread, I went and topped off all my tanks, and squeezed out my pre-filters, which are the first to clog. One of them was already restricting flow again after a day. I removed it and it seemed to be permanently compressed, so I replaced it with a spare. What kind of lifetime are you all seeing for filter foam and pre-filters?
  7. @nabokovfan87, I don’t think so. I just think that it is another design for comparison. It fits several Aquaclear foam sizes, and a few pre-filter sizes.
  8. There is another HoB that should be in the discussion:
  9. How are you getting to your thread? I usually browse the forum by using Unread, the little newspaper icon, and in the thread list, each thread will take me to where I left off, the newest unread post.
  10. Unfortunately, that is an old interface oddity, documented in the first post.
  11. I asked a local Vermont restaurant owner about his favorite pizza spots, and he mentioned this place in Providence, RI: https://casertapizzeria.com I think @Fish Folk would approve!
  12. That is the Mad River going through Moretown. I took a moment to stop on the way to get lunch.
  13. @Mmiller2001, I enjoy seeing your tanks, whether in competition mode or not.
  14. I bought a pair of Top Fin water-change sets with tubing and in-line pumps to kitbash into filters. Each pump has a power switch about halfway on the power cord. Python disappeared from all the LPS and box stores in Vermont years ago. The pump setup was useful for draining a tank to move with a layered substrate intact. The Aquarium Co-Op Powerhead might fit all the same stuff, but with a right angle setup, and probably more power. These are both in my utility kit, with a variety of pre-filter sponges.
  15. @nabokovfan87, regarding search, sometimes it can be more effective to do a Google search with an extra parameter, such as site:forum.aquariumcoop.com This is a useful strategy that is not specific to this forum.
  16. @nabokovfan87, I don't see custom development in the cards for your idea ($$$), but if you can find an application or plugin for Invision Community, perhaps. For example, Trader Feedback is an application for the forum. @Lemon, I made up replies for a couple of locked single-post threads. The settings only let me include or exclude forums. Let me know what you see now.
  17. @nabokovfan87, the forum is running Invision Community, if you want to research what is available. https://invisioncommunity.com
  18. @nabokovfan87, I looked at the notification settings, and I don’t see any options that precisely line-up with your idea. Perhaps follow the author, rather than the thread.
