I bought a second-hand 12 gallon rimless tank from an honest aquarist. I watched the package tracking and saw two non-deliveries, before I got the news. The seller took care of the claim, and offered a refund, or other things for sale. I took two Apex utilities: a moonlight kit, synchronized to the sky, and ironically, a pair of leak detection kits.

@Zac, how can we convince you to try live plants?
-
I have not done this, but some aquarists use substrate in mesh bags to create a sloped environment. In previous recycling threads, I wondered about ACO plant bags. I tested them under a tap, and the water flow is continuous.

CO2, Algae, New Plants. Need guidance on strategy.
Streetwise replied to Minanora's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
Your lighting changes will probably take about a month to show an impact. -
The forum software has an available feature where forum members can automatically get upgraded to a different role based on post count, reactions, etc. That role could grant access to a specific sub forum. I’m just mentioning this as a possible component. If the developers can also link to ACO and/or YouTube accounts, all those things could be used to control the threshold for access. Maybe you need to have an ACO account, a YT subscription, and also X number of posts, and Y number of reactions. I’m just thinking out loud.

Your first screenshot actually has more information! I still want to try a proper CO2 setup with my Apex. Please keep sharing! -
I can’t speak to the trust required for member transactions, but it does need a baseline. I can comment on spam. @Candi deals with fast spam on YouTube. Forum moderators deal with slow spam. Spammers will often comment on a few old threads, before dropping links. Member reports really help!

That is a lot of blue. -
City v Liverpool was amazing. United was disappointing again, but Ten Hag looks closer.

I have many sponge filters which have settled slightly above the substrate because the airline tubing has stiffened over time. I might eventually replace the tubing, but it is not much of a problem.

Night video camera to film fishes in 4 foot aquarium ?

Wyze did not report known security risks, but I don’t have a comprehensive link to post yet. -
@Nyssa, there is a poll option, but once a poll is posted, neither the original poster, or moderators, can edit the poll. We have have had some previous polls which included demographic questions, such as age, which we didn’t feel comfortable with for member privacy. If you have a brilliant poll idea, a moderator could post it, but otherwise it is better to have a thread with a conversation.

I love resolving a tech ticket!

I try to keep my shrimp tanks as boring as possible: only water top-offs, and continuous algae and biofilm.
-
I am not a fan of Purigen. As far as I can tell, it is composed of microplastics, which can only be reset with a risky bleach treatment. If you are using wood, enjoy the tannins.

@eatyourpeas, thank you! I would enjoy doing marine again. I lost my last marine tank to Tropical Storm Irene. I tried to give the tank away after the flood, but it is now my 16 bow. PS, I tried to pull some algae from one of my small shrimp tanks, and caught a shrimp by accident. I tried pouring out the algae vase twice, and we have this: I had to pour everything into a bucket, and now I wait for my next chance to catch this rogue shrimp! Edit: mission complete!

I love mulm. My shrimp can survive on mulm, and snails too. I don’t vacuum anything.

What is your lighting schedule? Do you have any window light? Hair algae won’t hurt anything, but it is nice to get it under control.

@Nicohorse318, those are Fluval Plant 3.0 Nano lights. I like the versatility of the L bracket. I recommend using felt pads for buckets.

Mulm is part of my baseline for aquariums. Wood is the primary source for my mulm.

Also Streetwise credit for those things! 😉 -
Fluval Stratum helped me grow this gorgeous algae
Streetwise replied to Cyndi's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
That is a lot of blue. I only run 1% blue for the final hour of my schedule, when all the other lights are off. -
